solid fit, basic sound
Andrew from Mount Rainier, MD on 6/22/2025
I have never found a pair of earbuds that fit me well. I had a pretty pricey pair of Sennheiser noise cancelling buds that I fiddled with trying to fit and worked ok, until I moved or talked or really anything. When I got these and put them on I first thought, oh no, another pair of earbuds that don't fit, they aren't even in my ears. I tried them out, and well, they sounded pretty good. They sort of sit above your ear canal and project into it, so there's no direct contact and your ears are open. The sound is ok, not as immersive as something in or surrounding your ear, but solid with good detail. The open fit means that you hear everything around you, which is really good, if you wear them frequently and don't want to feel like you are inside a headphone bubble all the time, or really bad, if you are in a very noisy environment and want to hear any detail at all. I have also gone into the kitchen looking for a weird appliance noise and realized it was something on a T. Rex track I hadn't noticed before. I bought these to use at work and have survived a many days of interminable zoom meetings so far and people say they can hear me easily. The fit is comfortable enough that I have scrambled a couple of times to find them when a meeting is starting and realized I was wearing them, but they irritate my lobes a little after an hour or so. Versatile headphones, stable, reasonably comfortable and decent sound for a good price.
Pros: stable comfortable good detail hear what's going on around you
Cons: hear what's going on around you lacks bass

After Crutchfield graciously allowed me to try several different styles , these are it absolutely perfect. Do not fall off, able to hear surrounding sounds, very comfortable. No issues easy to find and connect. Highly recommend them.

Not great for music
Belinda from Winchester, CA on 9/20/2024
I really wanted to love these! They are great for listening to podcasts, movies and phone calls, but they lacked sufficient volume for music, especially when working out. Comfortable and stable fit.

Of an industry-mandated form factor, this is one of the best

For sport purposes, a two earbuds connected by a strap that goes behind the neck is insanely more sensible than two independent earbuds. However, the only ones like that still being sold are abandonware and, in my experience, have such an old version of Bluetooth that cars passing me while I'm riding my bike will produce distortion, big dropouts, etc. So I bought Shure Aonics, which have an over-the-ear style to the Cleer. They were not much better at dropouts than the abandonware products. Poor volume, too. The Cleers are better. Dropouts are rare. When I'm using just my phone (iPhone), they connect reliably. The sound quality is good, and they do not interfere with hearing what's happening around you. Good battery life Disadvantages because of the form factor: The over-ear mechanism pushes my ear out, making me look even more dorky. The tap-surface is awkward enough that all I do is single-tap to play/pause. When I forget the case, it's easy for earbuds lying on a surface to "get tapped", meaning a podcast starts playing without me noticing. Minor annoyances: when I'm using them on my laptop, then switch to my phone, the phone reports the earbuds as connected, but sometimes I get no sound, which requires fiddling. For riding in traffic, a bit more volume would be good. Fine in the gym. I think these are a good choice until the world comes to its senses and realizes there's a *reason* ears are connected by the skull, not just swinging

Overall great.

Very clear on vocals, but bass is not so great, as one should expected from this type of unit. Don't forget to set up Bluetooth to answer calls, not from the app, otherwise it will shut down in a few minutes. Motion control needs to get use to.
Pros: Easy setup Clear vocals Comfortable Fast changes
Cons: Bass not so great EQ could be better

Fantastic

These are very nice earbuds. I bought the Shokz Openbuds at the same time to do a comparison. It only took about 10 minutes to realize I was sending the Shokz back. The Shokz were a bit lighter on ear and a bit more comfortable, but the Arc II won in every other category. The Shokz were very quiet and the bass distorted terribly after about 70% volume. The sound quality of the Arc II for open ear earbuds is in a different league. They can be quiet enough to increase awareness or loud enough to drown it out when required.
Pros: Loud Comfortable Nice case Very good sound Very good call quality
Cons: Slightly uncomfortable after long listening session (2+ hours) - everyones ears are different though.

Good sound but...
Steven from Long Beach, NY on 8/17/2023
The sound is great, deep bass and rich high tones... The drawback is they feel a little unstable on the ear and phone calls and notifications are muted. If you want to hear your surroundings and be aware these are a great option, just be aware there are tradeoffs to this. Volume could go higher in apps, but for music it is more than sufficient.
Pros: Great sound. Can hear cars and people etc. around you which is invaluable.
Cons: Iphone tones muted and phone calls are not clear or loud enough. Great for music but if phone calls is your primary purpose you may want to keep looking.

Fantastic!

I have so many head phones and wearables that seems ridiculous. My problem is that in-ear headphones cause my ear to have a reaction resulting in infection of some sort. Many in-ears headphones also have the issue of falling off and get lost. Over-the-ears are no better because of weight and lack of breathability that cause the ears and surrounding areas to be sweaty and hot. Well, the Clear Arc II solved all previous problems that I experienced AND provides great acoustics. I've only worn them for about 2.5 hours during light workout and 5 miles of walking. The weight is acceptable with no numbness to my ears.
Pros: No sweats or infection resulted from wearing them. Great sound quality. Comfortable to wear for 2.5 hours of light exercising and walking.
Cons: On the borderline of being heavy.
