Cleaner sound is a smart power cable away

If you've invested in high-end A/V gear, it's worth checking out upgraded power cables. The iFi SupaNova employs lots of sophisticated technology to eliminate noise and even protect your gear. This three-pronged active cable has noise cancellation built into it. It works on the same principle as noise-canceling headphones. iFi's Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) II technology creates its own noise current, but it's an inverse wave compared to the noise already in the cable. These currents cancel each other out, keeping it out of your connected gear where it could otherwise mar audio signals with distortion.

Five conductors, smartly arranged

Before ANC even activates, the SupaNova is already working to minimize noise. Unlike most power cables, which have three conductor wires inside, the SupaNova uses five oxygen-free high-conductivity copper wires: two hot, two neutral, and a ground conductor. So what do those extra conductors give you? They're set up in a balanced configuration — each pair of hot and neutral wires are 180 degrees out of phase, so their magnetic fields cancel each other out. This balanced design limits the residual electromagnetic interference that can plague stock power cables.

The conducting wires themselves are also arranged in a geometrically balanced design around the ground conductor. They're also offset by a couple of extra air-filled tubes. This "Ground Zero" design further keeps residual magnetic interference away from the ground conductor and out of your connected component. There's also a cool feature that allows the cable to detect whether or not your connected component actually needs a ground connection. If it doesn't, it won't engage the ground connection in the cable, further keeping noise to an absolute minimum.

Surge protection in a cable

We always recommend plugging gear into a power protection device. But the SupaNova cable has its own power protection built in. Over-Voltage Surge Protection can detect spikes in voltage and shut off power to your connected component...before any damage is done.

The internal conductors are well-shielded by the heavy-yet-flexible polymer sheath. Each end of the cable features 24k gold-plated connectors, for enhanced conduction.

Features

Overview: The iFi-Audio SupaNova is a specialized power cable for your home AV equipment. Its high-end construction and advanced technology delivers pure, clean AC power to your components. SupaNova also adds in-line power conditioning and over-voltage surge protection. The 62" cable has a 3-pronged NEMA 5-15P plug and an IEC C-15 connector on the component end.

Ground Zero Cable Design: SupaNova is equipped with five heavy-gauge, continuous-cast OFHC (Oxygen-Free High Thermal Conductivity) copper conductors for excellent conductivity. Two pairs of live (hot) and neutral conductors are arranged in a geometrically-balanced, double-helix circular configuration, cancelling out each other's magnetic fields, and wound around a straight center ground conductor. This Ground Zero design results in no residual magnetic fields and no unwanted induced voltage being applied to the center ground conductor. The individual conductors are wrapped in a polymer matrix insulation. In addition, a pair of air-dielectric delineators (polymer matrix tubes filled with air) keeps the live and neutral pairs separated, and contributes to the solidarity of the cable construction. The whole cable is equipped with a flexible polymer outer sheath, and is terminated by iFi's audiophile-grade connectors and 24-carat gold-plated copper conductors.

Active Noise Cancellation II: The SupaNova power cable features an in-line cylindrical housing for iFi's proprietary Active Noise Cancellation II (ANC II) technology. ANC II actively eliminates more noise across the frequency range than a passive product, even across the lower frequencies. Its Wireless Purification System significantly reduces noise on the power line to improve your home's AV system performance without hampering dynamics.

Polarity/Earth Detection: The power conditioning module has a Ground/Earth connection diagnostic and polarity detection to ensure the neutral and live conductors are not reversed. There are two LEDs on the module that indicate the following:

Noise Rejection: The sophisticated design of the SupaNova power cable results in constant impedance, as well as superior rejection of Electromagnetic and Radio Frequency Interference (EMI/RFI). The cable pairs effectively with the iFi PowerStation to deliver pure, noise-free power from the mains, all the way to the connected component.

Over-voltage Surge Protection (OSP): The in-line power conditioning module can automatically detect an over-voltage surge or a short in the mains, it will automatically cut itself off.
