Amazing sound, great build quality
Rian from Portland, OR on 5/27/2025
I owned the 6000CDT and loved the sound of that one but the slot mechanism drove me bonkers, so I ended up returning it. Took at change on the 9000CDT and it's blowing me away. It *shouldn't* sound better than streaming my FLAC files via the same DAC, and yet it does... Definitely recommended. One thing I had a hard time figuring out: the unit does NOT support CD-TEXT. So it will not show track titles on the screen for CDs. A small nitpick, but a missed opportunity IMO.
Pros: Incredible sound, great build quality
Cons: No support for CD-TEXT

Don't hesitate
John from New Port Richey, FL on 11/18/2024
If you're thinking about it, get it. As a computer engineer, I was skeptical about hi-end CD xports thinking "bits are bits" comparing to the cheap drive in my PC always able to make perfect bit-by-bit copies of files. So I've been putting this component off but still feeling the other components weren't sounding to their potential. Simply replacing a semi-old Pioneer Elite CD player (using as optical xport) with the 9000CDT (connected with same optical), I couldn't believe the improvement. It wasn't just noticeable, it was amazing. It's like listening to my CDs again for the first time. For cons, I just have the same minor ones on the remote and slow disc loading as others. I don't use the USB so can't speak to that.

Audio lab 9000 cdt
Brian from Northfield, NJ on 11/12/2024
The audiolab 9000cdt is a great looking, great sounding piece of gear. I couldn't be happier about my purchase. Crutchfield did a great job with delivering my product and I will definitely continue to purchase from them in the future.
Pros: Display can be easily read from across the room. Sound quality is excellent and built like a tank.
Cons: No XLR

WITH USB PORT
Patrick from Arroyo Grande, CA on 7/31/2024
If USB is not important, only interested in CD transport, then this is a 4/5 star unit. If USB is a deciding factor, as it was for me and you are thinking of buying, my advice is don't. Obviously the folks that designed and implement the CD transport have years of experience. Whoever implemented the USB, obviously do not use USB. OK USB seems limited to use of a memory stick or similar storage device. If there is some other supported Use Case I would like to know what that is. - One of the advantages of USB stick is that they are swappable. Why would you put this port on back of unit? - No USB switchable hub support. OK, so you have port on back, maybe I can use a switchable hub to make that work. Tested 2 switchable hubs, confirmed with support, Hub not supported. - max size of USB device that can be accessed? OK, so now I am down to putting in one stick in back. So I want a large one. Per manual supports fat32 USB Devices, doesn't say anything about size. fat32 implies at least 32 gigs. I cannot access data on a 32 gig flash drive. One song comes up, freezes, can't play or navigate. - 8 gig memory stick plays, but with drop outs. I occasionally get dropout, sec of silence in middle of song. - One way navigation. I can navigate into a subdirectory, but once there I can not navigate back up or move anywhere else. Really? - Supported file formats. Weak for a flagship product. - AR Support. Unresp

Audiolab 9000CDT
Antonio from Newhall, CA on 11/1/2023
I was using an Audiolab 6000cdt, which was quite good. I decided to step up to the 9000cdt as a "better" cd transport sounded like a decent idea. First, I like the tray better that the slot load. Also, construction quality and finish are a step up. As far as sonics, greater resolution, deeper bass and a deeper and wider soundstage are all apparent. There seems to be a greater sense of ease to the sound all while having more detail. Still using the same digital cable. The only thing changed was the transport. Remote works as it should. No problem loading or reading discs. Definitely a great purchase.

Step up from the Audiolab 6000CDT
Joe from Ormond Beach, FL on 10/29/2023
The Audiolab 9000CDT replaced an Audiolab 6000CDT. The 6000CDT was working good but I kept reading reviews about improvements in sound quality the 9000CDT provided. The 9000CDT cost 3 times what the 6000CDT costs so there is an expectation that an audible improvement will be heard and the reviews are correct. Small details that previously were suppressed are now easily heard. Separation of instruments and voices are much improved. The 9000CDT has a display that gives more information. If you have a good quality DAC and amplifier, you might try the 9000CDT with Crutchfield's 30 day return policy. Negatives are - slow reading the disc initially (seems longer than the 6000CDT) and the size of the remote that has many buttons that have nothing to do with the CD transport (same as 6000CDT).
Pros: Better detail and sound stage
Cons: Slow reading the disc and remote with buttons that are not needed.

Audiolab cdt 9000
Romeo L from Jamaica, NY on 10/23/2023
The Audiolab 9000 cdt is a big leap in the sound improvement/difference from the Audiolab 6000 cdt. ( which I have also). Bass is tight and vocals are crystal clear at least to me. Imaging presence in the sound is so noticeable. The looks of the unit itself is unique specially the screen on while playing music if you prefer it that way. It seems to add life to what you're listening. The unit is solidly built. If you have a library of CDs, this is a wonderful upgrade to what you might enjoy more ( only my opinion) Happy listening!!!!
