Features

CD Transport: The 9000CDT is a dedicated CD transport incorporating a tray-loading mechanism. Extremely robust and reliable, it uses read-ahead digital buffering to reduce disc-reading failures, able to play scratched and damaged CDs that are unreadable by conventional mechanisms. By mounting the transport in its own, electromagnetically shielded enclosure, and including a dedicated power supply, the digital signal extraction from any CD is accurate and precise as it is possible to achieve.

Note: The Audiolab 9000CDT is a CD transport; not a CD player. It is not equipped with its own built-in DAC.

Slot Loading Mechanism: Using Audiolab's slot loading mechanism, the transport uses read-ahead digital buffering to reduce disc reading failures and deliver the highest level of digital signal extraction from a wide range of CDs, even capable of reading scratched and damaged CDs that are unreadable by conventional mechanisms.

  • The Audiolab 9000CDT supports playback of CD Audio discs (16-bit/44.1kHz), as well as CD-R and CD-RW discs with PCM music files (16-bit/44.1kHz)..
  • The 700CDT is not compatible with with MP3, WMA, AAC, or WAV music files on CD-R or CD-RW. SACD, DVD Audio, and CD Text, discs are not supported.

High-Precisions Optical System: The Audiolab 9000CDT uses a high-precision optical system with an electronic data buffer for accurate and seamless CD playback. The 9000CDT employs a read-ahead digital buffer to reduce disc-reading failures, helping it plays scratched and damaged CDs that may be unreadable by conventional mechanisms. To ensure a flawless signal reaches the accompanying DAC, the coaxial output of the 9000CDT is fed from a differential line driver. The master clock is controlled by a high-accuracy crystal oscillator, enabling the digital output from both coaxial and optical sockets to exhibit vanishingly low levels of jitter (digital distortion).

Non-Resonant Chassis: The low-friction loading tray, sturdy aluminum base and chassis of the 9000CDT work to tackle vibrations that are experienced due to the mechanics of a high-spin-velocity motor. Further, the transport is mounted in its own, electromagnetically shielded enclosure with a dedicated power supply. All of these contribute to the exemplary digital signal extraction, while the proven resonance reduction further improves performance and onward effect in ancillary Hi-Fi equipment and signal chains.

Optical & Coaxial Digital Outputs: The 9000CDT's onboard digital decoder utilizes digital coax and optical outputs to deliver the maximum versatility. There is one coaxial (RCA) digital output and one optical (toslink) digital output that can be used to connect an external DAC, preamplifier, or integrated amplifier.

Note: The 9000CDT does not offer any analog audio outputs.

USB-A Port: In addition to CD Audio playback, the 9000CDT also features a rear-panel USB-A port for music playback from a connected USB MSC (mass storage class device), such as a USB thumbdrive formatted in FAT12, FAT16, or FAT32. Supported music files include MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV. The 9000CDT can recognize up to 700 folders and a total of 65,535 files.

File Format Sampling Frequency Bit-Rate or Bit-Length
MP3 32-44.1kHz 32-320kbps
WMA 32-44.1kHz 32-320kbps
AAC 32-44.1kHz 32-320kbps
WAV 32-44.1kHz 16-bit

4.3" IPS Display: The 9000CDT features a full-color 4.3" IPS display on the front-panel with a detailed, but simple-to-use GUI (graphic user interface). The front-panel IPS display offers a vivid representation of information including system settings, format identification, folder and track numbers, elapsed time, as well as other data. The unit will even display song/artist/album info (no album art) from your USB music files.

Note: The unti does not support song/artist/album info for CD Audio, CD-R, or CD-RW discs.

Controls: The Audiolab 9000CDT features front-panel, push-button controls and comes with an IR wireless remote control.

  • IR Remote: The included IR remote control provides wireless operation of the Audiolab 9000CDT, as well as control of an Audiolab integrated amplifier (such as the 9000A). Remote control functions for the CD transport include Power On/Off, Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Next Track, Repeat, Random, Program (99), plus direct track access (0-9).
  • Front-Panel: The front-panel includes the following control functions - Power On/Off, Eject, Play/Pause, Stop, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Next Track, and Repeat Disc.

Note: There is no eject button on remote; the eject button is only on the front-panel of the CD transport.

12V Trigger Outputs: The 9000CDT has a pair of 12V trigger outputs (3.5mm) on the rear-panel that can activate the Audiolab 9000A integrate amp's or any other component's trigger input. This will enable your connected devices to be brought in and out of standby using the trigger connections.

Auto Standby: The 9000CDT CD transport will automatically enter standby mode after 20 minutes or 1 hour of no playback signal and control inactivity.

Detachable AC Power Cord: The Audiolab 9000CDT comes with a detachable 6.5' IEC 2-prong AC power cord.

Q
Is there a minimum or maximum size for the USB device?
watneys  Oct 23, 2024

A
Greetings John. Thank you for your question. There is no minimum drive size, and the maximum drive size is not listed, however there are limitations on the number of folders and or files that the 9000CDT can recognize. 700 folders, and or a total 65,535 files.

Q
Can the Node X be used for the DAC?
david  Sep 26, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Dave. Thank you for your question. The Node X has a USB input, which can be used for music playback from a mass storage device like a thumbdrive. In that scenario, you would be using the Node X's DAC.

Q
Can the Technics Su GX70 integrated streaming amplifier be used as a DAC with this or any other CD Transport?
paul  Aug 08, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey Paul, the Technics SU-GX70 can definitely be used as the DAC for that Audiolab transport. You would just need to run an optical digital or coaxial digital cable from the Audiolab to the Technics and you will be able to enjoy your tunes.
