Great Purchase
Duane from Olive Branch, MS on 12/30/2024
Purchased this camera per the recommendation of Crutchfield support. It was priced in line with other quality cameras and connected to an Alpine ILX-W670 that was purchased at the same time. The image is clear, and stable, and the connecting cables seem to be designed to be run through small recesses which made running it from back to front as painless as could be expected.
Pros: Price
Cons: None so far.

Daniel from Riverview, FL on 9/29/2023
Great camera. Put it on both my kids cars paired with the Alpine iLX-W650. Great picture and even had guide cones or lines to choose from. First camera lasted 2 years through Michigan winters. Can't complain for only 49.99. Thanks Crutchfield, you guys and gals rock!!!
Pros: Great Price Easy to install Compact camera
Cons: None

Would not work.
Crutchfield customer from Port Royal, VA on 7/28/2021
I had my aftermarket head unit and camera installed professionally. This camera would not display video. Checked against another camera to troubleshoot and the other camera produced video. Could have just been a fluke camera.

Good camera, long cable
Crutchfield customer from Redding, CA on 6/12/2021
Installed this in a 2004 Ford Expedition with a Sony 2-din CArPlay receiver. Camera has nice video quality, very compact. I like that it doesn't look like an aftermarket install, very clean and compact. Included signal cable was long enough to reach the receiver at the front, although the power cable meant to route to the rear light wasn't long enough for my SUV rear hatch, I had to extend it by soldering some wire to it.
Pros: Good quality video, compact, long signal cable.
Cons: Short power cable

Good cheap camera
Joshua from YAWKEY, WV on 5/31/2021
Good little camera, I used as backup camera to help line up hitches. The quality could be better but it's cheap. The backets are fixed so you may have to make a bracket to attach between the camera and the vehicle. The cable length could have been longer I have a truck and it just got to the back of the truck.
Pros: Price
Cons: Cable length, fixed bracket

Scott from LAKEWOOD, CA on 12/20/2020
Great camera. Picture quality is great on the JVC KW-M560BT I installed in my wife's '07 Nissan Xterra. Not too hard to instal. Did have to make a bracket for it due to where I mounted it, otherwise it would just show the ground about a foot behind the vehicle. Highly recommend.

Better wire please
Jonathan E from MOORHEAD, MN on 10/28/2020
Camera works well but the wire to the backup light is going to fail. I have over 40 years experience working on everything from lawn mowers to C-141 aircraft. I have never seen such cheap wire. There are like 8 strands of brittle, hair like wires that break off with any movement. Had to strip by hand with a razor blade. I would gladly pay an extra $0.50 for a decent wire.

Well priced Quality camera
Crutchfield customer from Boca Raton, FL on 7/8/2020
Nice camera. Fairly easy to install with appropriate length wires. Good image. Just be aware that there is only one way to mount this camera. It's meant for the under trunk lid mounting style. You can't flip it over or adjust it or the image will be upside down.
Pros: Good image; Good cable length; OEM appearance
Cons: Only one way to mount (not adjustable)

Installation was not difficult, camera has nice clear picture how ever I have not seen the guide lines but it could depend on the system that I have installed, I figured the lines would be automatically there as long as I did not cut the guide line wire. Still a good camera.

Crux CUL-09
Trent from Montgomery, AL on 2/6/2019
Camera looks steeply downward. Installation was very easy and straightforward. However, I mounted this camera where an OEM camera would go on my 2012 Tahoe, and the camera looks too steeply down. Its great for hooking up a trailer, but not good for seeing the area behind the vehicle.
Pros: Easy installation All required materials provided
Cons: Looks too steeply downward

Frank from Atlanta, GA on 8/8/2017
Great color. However, the wide angle the camera shows, gives the impression that you are much farther away from an object then you think. Not like my back-up camera that came with my 2016 Nissan Frontier which is much more accurate in judging true distance.
Pros: Great color
Cons: misleading wide angle camera makes it seem you are further away than what you think.

Better than I expected!
Pete from El Paso, TX on 9/12/2016
I was very thorough when trying to research these cameras. Out of all the ones I saw, I was drawn to the CUL-09. I had a plan on how to install it onto a 2007 Toyota RAV4. This product came in a very generic looking box. Inside, it was carefully wrapped and only had a small sliver of paper that told what each lead did, as well as power and ground. The camera's lead has a detachable connector that attaches to the rest of the wiring harness. This is small enough to get it through the body using a small hole. I routed it through and past an existing hole in the RAV4's tailgate, using grommets along the way. The wire seems strong, but I did use wire loom protectors. I was able to get the camera lead all the way past the door flex and into the cabin before I had to connect the rest of the harness. The rest of the lead was more than enough to stretch from the back of the RAV4 to the dash behind the stereo. I was surprised to see that the power and ground leads were next to the video lead behind the stereo. I was able to tap into the stereo's Ignition 12V and Ground, so that it only comes on when the ignition is on. The camera image is very high quality. The guidance lines arent too helpful but can be deleted. The image can be reversed if necessary. It is great at night, as the camera still shows clearly even only using the light from the RAV4's backup lamps. Finally, mounting flexibilitymade it a great choice, as I had to turn it slightly due to an o
Pros: - Camera lead has a small connector so only a small hole needs to be drilled. - Power and Ground are with the video lead toward the end where it connects to the stereo. - Flexibility in mounting. - Great, Clear images even at night. - Very Small Footprint. - Universal. Connected it to a Pioneer AVH-X2800BS and it worked perfectly.
Cons: None that I could see.
