Features

Radio Replacement Interface: The CRUX SWRSU-38B is a radio replacement interface for select Subaru vehicles. It facilitates the integration of an aftermarket radio and enables retention of specific factory features (such as steering wheel controls) when replacing a factory installed radio in select Subaru vehicles.

Vehicle Compatibility: The CRUX SWRSU-38B radio replacement interface works with the following 2008-2015 Subaru vehicles.

Make Model Year
Subaru Forester 2009-2015
Impreza WRX/STI (without factory navigation) 2008-2014
Legacy 2010-2014
Outback (without factory subwoofer) 2010-2014
XV Crosstreck 2013-2014

Steering Wheel Controls: The CRUX SWRSU-38B also features a steering wheel control output for Alpine, Boss, Clarion, Dual/Axxera, Jensen, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony, and other aftermarket head units. The steering wheel control output consists of a right-angle 3.5mm connector and a light blue/yellow wire (use the connection that your aftermarket head unit is outfitted with). The SWRSU-38B interface module will work with any of the listed aftermarket head units, by setting its 8 dip-switches (see owner's manual for appropriate setting).

Customer Q&A

6 questions already asked

Q
Does this kit also come with the harness wire for the antenna?
tyler  Aug 18, 2021
1 answer
A
The CRUX SWRSU-38B is an adapter to use the steering wheel audio switches (if equipped) only. Which antenna adapter are you trying to find? I ended up modifying a Lexus adapter cord so I could use the sirius XM antenna already factory installed on my Forester..

Q
Does this mean if I put a new stereo in that has a GPS, I will not be able to use the GPS system since my car doesn't have navigation?
camryn  Mar 30, 2021
1 answer
A
No, it means that this wiring interface does not work in those two vehicle models that originally came with navigation. We have advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can help make sure the proper parts are ordered to install an aftermarket navigation receiver into your vehicle

Q
Does this still maintain my steering wheel controls for cruise control?

A
Yes
benjamin  Sep 18, 2020
A
It did for me; 2010 Impreza; this only affected the left hand buttons, but no effect on cruise control.
marcus  Sep 18, 2020
A
Yes
jared  Sep 17, 2020
A
doesn't affect cruise control functions. I was never able to get the on-hook, off-hook function to work with the head unit (Alpine with Apple Carplay), but worked with the company to get the unit to function for the majority of the steering wheel controls.
timothy  Sep 17, 2020
A
Yes, make sure you check the dip switches and follow the latest install sheet specifically page 2 for Forester, Legacy, and Outback if it applies.

Q
Will this work with a pldnand465 pyle radio?
dominick  Jun 05, 2020
1 answer
A
We haven't tested it with any Pyle radios but it should work with most standard aftermarket radios. What kind of vehicle is this going in? You can connect with one of our friendly product advisors for live advice here: https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rET1c290/S-SUliZgSTXG7/support/ContactUs.aspx
