This quality part produces better sound

The final upgrade to my new Pro-Ject Debut EVO turntable made noticeable improvements to the sound. It's so nice not to invest thousands on a turntable to get this much enjoyment from such a little investment. I also added the acrylic platter as well. All and all this has been a good decision in the long run. Start off with the standard EVO and just add upgrades as you go. It makes more sense to do this so you can hear the improvements along the way. Add the great support from Crutchfield and you have a winning combination!

Despite reading great reviews, I was a bit skeptical, but I noticed the difference immediately. I'm not an audiophile so I won't use any of their terms, but the bass improved and the overall sound was better.

Crazy little thing really works.

I'm not sure how to explain this. I honestly didn't think this would actually make much difference in terms of audio quality. I just wanted it because it is way better than the abs plastic? That came with it. But it absolutely does improve the audio quality, it is rich and fuller sounding. I have been listening to it for the last week or so and I am for sure, it is not wishful thinking or imagination. I also got the high power pak for my table , but that was so I could plug it into my power conditioner/ surge protector. There's no way to do a simple upgrade and get such positive results for ease and money than this. My next upgrade grade will probably cost twice as much, and if it performs as well as this, I will be satisfied.

I was skeptical when I first heard about this upgrade from the Pro-Ject rep at the FL Audio show this past February. I bought a Debut Carbon from Crutchfield a few years ago and although very happy I've since upgraded the Ortofon red to blue and replaced the metal platter with the acrylic platter and was very pleased, but I was intrigued by this upgrade. I finally convinced myself into buying it and couldn't be happier. I'm not one to throw platitudes about this or that but it did make a noticeable difference and sounds great. I did read somewhere that the total cost of upgrades shouldn't exceed the initial cost of the unit so I think I'm done. However, those other 2 Ortofon Carts do look interesting...

Good

Good quality and weight. Project should include the bearing as part of this upgrade. Sound wise, maybe a slight improvement, hard to say as I changed platted mat material as well.

Pro-Ject Subplatter Debut LS

I had been trying to get the Pro-Ject Alu subplatter but everyone had it on back order. Then I found the debut LS subplatter on Crutchfield. I checked the manufacturer part and it's the same as the Alu subplatter on Pro-jects site. Was delivered promptly and fit perfectly on my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo.

Worth the upgrade

Definitely made a difference in the sound of my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo. Upper and mid range tones are clearer and the bass has more punch. I would recommend to anyone with a Pro-Ject Debut series turntable!

A nice upgrade option

I ordered this and the acrylic platter at the same time. Both came on the same day so I was able to sort of experiment with the differences in sound. I found the aluminum subplatter to be a bigger bang for my buck - it lowered the noise floor and tightened up the bass. Aesthetically, paired with the acrylic platter it looks very nice as well.

Great Product

Really well made and I could actually hear a difference it made right away. Soundstage was more accurate and I began hearing tiny nuances in the music that I had not heard before. Well worth the money and of course order and delivery process was fast and easy.

Scratching my head

It looks cool, may or may not be sonically beneficial, hard to tell. May return it and spend the cash on a new cart instead.

Easy upgrade on my Project Debut Carbon DC. Combined with the acrylic platter and Ortofon blue stylus, my original Debut Carbon deck has come a long way. There's something to this as far as sonic improvement. It's subtle, but it's there. This has been back ordered a while, but Crutchfield emailed me that it was available, and I had it the NEXT day.

Is it worth it

Though people complain about having to pay extra for Pro Jet upgrades. I find that this along with the acrylic platter was necessary. It is questionable if these upgrades improve sound quality or not. I simple don't care. My turntable is complete

Worthwhile Upgrade

When I was looking for an upgrade, the first thing I thought was the cartridge. Always a good choice. Then I thought I would look at what made the best table in the Debut line different from this one that I could look to when upgrading this table in other ways. That item was the sub-platter. Makes sence. More expensive, higher quality tables always highlight the weight of the platter to increase stability and decrease wow and flutter which both affect the sound quality. I was expecting an incremental increase in resoulution and timbral balance when I added this to my Project Carbon Evo. I was wrong. It made all the strenghts of the table even stronger. The bass was tighter, the treble and mid's where more distinguished and refined. Everything was smoother and more musical. Best of all, it is an easy, instant upgrade. This was a worthwhile upgrade to an already better turntable.

This is a nicely tooled piece of metal that adds weight and stability to the table, and I also feel it has helped to articulate mids and focus the bass. Not a jaw-dropping upgrade, but noticeable.

Noticeable Difference

Upgraded both the subplatter and the platter at the same time so can't speak to which made the bigger impact, but the difference was significant. Listened to my favorite record for reference and I heard some brand new elements to tracks I've never heard before. Worth every penny!

Nice upgrade!

Would recommend this aluminum sub platter with the acrylic platter as your first upgrade on a Debut Carbon. If you can splurge on the Ortofon 2M bronze MM cart, you will have a a turntable that hits way above its price point.

Fantastic Upgrade for Debut Carbon Evo

Great upgrade to my Debut Carbon Evo turntable. After upgrading to an acrylic platter the Alu Sub-platter added some much needed weight back into the turntable to make the turntable more stable and feel solid. The Sub-platter is beautifully machined, heavy and truly feels like a night and day difference from the featherweight sub-platter that comes standard with the Debut Carbon Evo. Sonically there was a noticeable difference as well. The bass felt tighter and more defined. The overall sound was smoother, more stable and felt a little more effortless. I've done multiple upgrades to the Evo (power supply, acrylic platter, moonstone stylus, vta-it, etc.) and this along with the moonstone stylus upgrade are far and away the two upgrades that enhanced the music listening experience and sonics the most. I highly recommend Alu Sub-platter if you can find one in stock. There seems to be a shortage on this part, so snatch one up if you see it in stock. It's not cheap, but it's a fantastic sonic upgrade and it also enhances the turntables appearance as an added bonus. Lastly, Crutchfield's ordering process and shipping were second to none as always.

Fantastic!

I upgraded the sub-platter on my Pro-Ject Debut Pro with this baby. I had already done several upgrades, adding an Ortofon Bronze cartridge, a leather mat, an S2 preamp and a Pro-Ject Ground-it. (Also tried the acrylic platter but found that the Pro's platter superior.) The upgrades substantially improved the sound and I honestly didn't think I could get much more out of my Pro. I was wrong! Everything, especially the base, sounded better, fuller more robust. Suddenly I was hearing harmonics in Ella Fitzgerald's voice that I never heard before. I tried several different musical genre (classical, pop, jazz, even show tunes) and everything sounded better. Buy it.

Beautiful, yet expensive, upgrade

Beautiful upgrade...like all Pro-ject branded accessories, it is wildly overpriced for what it is. I'm not sure about whether or not it improves sound quality, but it dresses up the table nicely - and it's very, very solid (heavier than you'd think). If nothing else, it should help dampen any vibration left in the design.

No oil / grease / lube. 100% not precision machined as checking it on a real CAQ shows no better quality over the plastic junk it's meant to replace. It's heavier, sure, which will over stress the motor that was not designed for the weight. Save your money. I'm returning mine straight away.
