Features
Austere Surge Protection: The Austere V Series S5-APS4-US1 surge protector is designed specifically for kitchens and small appliances. Austere surge protection regulates the power coming from the outside powerline to ensure devices do not burn out from a high voltage spike that can be harmful to your equipment.
- Flameless MOV Protection: Flameless MOV Protection gives you peace of mind that powerful surges will not result in a dangerous fire.
- OverCurrent Protection: OverCurrent Protection ensures that our thermal protected power circuit cannot exceed 18 amps, which could cause devices to short circuit or create dangerous temperatures that may lead to a fire.
Joule Depletion: Each time the surge protector is hit by an electrical spike, it sacrifices Joules to protect the connected components. Once the Joules are depleted, the Protected LED will cease to illuminate, and the unit will need to be replaced. The Austere V Series surge protector has a 3000 Joule rating, which should last more than five times as long as typical surge protectors.
SmartFit Outlets: The surge protector is equipped with four SmartFit outlets that are mounted to the sides to save space, allowing it to fit in tight spaces behind furniture. The outlets are arranged vertically on both sides, providing ample room for bulky plugs and AC adapter transformers.
PureFiltration: PureFiltration acts like a protective force field to prevent external EMI/RFI disturbances from degrading your sensitive electronics and kitchen experience. Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) occurs when devices are near one another. Frequent exposure to EMI disturbances will harm your premium kitchen appliances and impede performance.
Circuit Breaker: The unit is equipped with a circuit breaker on the right side which protects your device by disconnecting from power during a surge. It can also be used as a simple on/off switch to turn off all four outlets and the USB ports without having to disconnect your devices.
USB Charging Ports: The Austere V Series is equipped with three OmniPort USB rapid charging ports (one USB-A and two USB-C) for your USB-enabled devices. The three USB ports share 2.4 amps of charging power for your smartphone, tablet, or other USB-powered handheld devices. One of the USB-C ports features Power Delivery (PD) which can charge a smartphone at up to 20 volts for the fastest and most efficient possible charge.
LED Indicators: Three LED indicators on the front panel glow blue to indicate the following:
- Power: indicates the unit is plugged in, switched on, and receiving power
- Ground: indicates the unit is plugged into a properly grounded circuit
- Protected: indicates the power unit's surge suppression components are intact and providing full surge protection
Mounting: The surge protector plugs directly into the top outlet of a standard duplex electrical outlet. Below the plug is a post that inserts into the ground socket of the bottom outlet for more security. When inserted, the surge protector protrudes from the wall approximately 1-3/4". With the outlets mounted to the sides, you can install the surge protector behind your appliances and maintain access to the outlets. The wall outlet cover can be left in place or removed, as desired. If the cover plate is removed, the integrated screw in the surge protector can be screwed into the cover plate hole for a more permanent installation. The attached rubber plug can cover the mounting screw for a clean look.
Product and Component Guarantees: Austere offers a Lifetime Product Guarantee on the surge protector to ensure your satisfaction with its performance and protection. The unit also carries a 5-year Connected Component Guarantee. If the Austere Power device is responsible for any damage to a plugged-in device, Austere will replace that device, regardless of its value, for up to 5 years.
