This battery is almost double the size of the stock battery that comes with your camera. Even though it doesn't say in the description, it fit's Canon XA-11 and XA-15

I bought this battery to replace the BP-827 battery for my Canon VIXIA HF M41 camcorder. The battery was correctly detected by my camera and recharged successfully. I've tested the camera and it works perfectly with this battery.

I've had great luck with 'after market' batteries for my Canon cameras in the past-much cheaper, and long-lasting. However, when I tried using one with the new XA30 the camera would not accept it. It actually showed up on the screen and then automatically shut off. I've been told one can use a separate charger and then the camera will operate with the battery, but possibly without showing battery data. I suppose it is also possible that Canon came up with a way to make their batteries exclusive to the newer cameras, but I decided it wasn't worth messing with and ordered their battery. I have found that it most definitely does not last as long as the after market batteries, in the same conditions unfortunately. Figures. If you're going to charge an exorbitant amount for your own battery, the least you could do is produce one that competes or exceeds those made by other companies!

Pros: Charges fine, works fine.

Cons: Does not last as long as after market equivalents.

This battery is a must buy in my opinion. I use this battery as my primary battery for my video camera and i use the stock smaller battery that came with my camera as a backup. It lasts long and worth it.

Pros: - Much Longer battery life than stock battery that came with my canon camcorder - Only a little bigger then the stock battery
