Features
Overview: The Canon Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E2 (6348C002) is designed for use with the RF24-105mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z or the RF70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z zoom lenses. It allows you to smoothly zoom in and out by controlling the speed electronically. The adapter features push-button zoom controls, with separate W (wide) and T (telephoto) buttons. The PZ-E2 draws power from the camera through contacts on the lens, or with an optional power adapter, so there are no batteries to deal with. The adapter comes with a thumb rest, hex key, and storage case.
Design: The Power Zoom Adapter is equipped with a DC motor that can be finely adjusted to control the speed. The zoom speed is controlled by a small dial, from dramatic, smooth low-speed zooming to rapid zoom action.
Control: Not only can you control the powered zoom on the adapter, you can use the power zoom function on compatible EOS cameras by assigning custom buttons. Using Canon EOS Utility Software or the Canon Camera Connect app, the PZ-E2 can be controlled remotely from your smartphone or computer.
Zoom Mode Switch: On the top of the adapter is a dial for selecting the Zoom Mode. In Servo Mode, zooming is controlled electronically with the adapter buttons or remotely. When switched to Manual Mode, you can zoom by turning the zoom ring on the lens.
Installation: The PZ-E2 attaches to the side of the lens via two alignment pins and three thumbscrews. The screws can be tightened with a coin or finger-tightened. The thumb rest requires a 2.5mm hex key (included) for securing to the lens. The lens was designed so that the Power Zoom Adapter can be attached or detached, even while the camera is attached to a tripod, rig, or gimbal.
Power: The PZ-E2 draws power from the camera through contacts on the compatible lenses. The adapter can be powered independently via the optional PD-E1 Power Adapter (sold separately by the manufacturer) that plugs into the USB-C port on the adapter. This saves the camera battery from being exhausted more rapidly.
