Light. Clear. Great deal.
Scott from Upstate NY on 2/1/2025
I bought this lens to go with a new R7 based on many online reviews and specifically for wildlife and outdoor photography. Great image quality and works perfectly with in-camera image stabilization. Very good build quality and easy to use and configure. It's surprisingly light. Slightly less great in low light (to be expected for the f/ range) but not a deal breaker. The lens hood is not included so pick one up if you need it. For the price, there is really nothing close to beat this lens in performance, weight, and image quality. Crutchfield remains fast, accurate, and helpful - always appreciate their service.
Pros: Very light, great clarity, great value. AF is great and works perfectly with in-body image stabilization.
Cons: Low light can be a bit hit or miss (at f/5.6, this is obvious) but has not been a big deal. AF can sometimes take a little coaxing at longer lengths (I use the manual focus dial to compensate, and it works great).

100/400 Zoom lens quality +
Gerald from Woodland Hills, CA on 9/26/2023
Considering it's the lightest, shortest and cheapest 100/490 zoom lens, I can't see how image quality could be surpassed.
Pros: Sharp, light, short
Cons: Don't know yet
