For the price, this is a good lens, particularly for the travel. It's light, easy to carry, and serves the most purpose of travel shots. Tested the sharpness: at 24 mm, the corners were not clear (fig 1); at the 50 mm (fig 2) and 105 mm (fig 3), all areas are very sharp.

Pros: Reasonable price, light, great sharpness at 50 and 105 mm.

Cons: At wide angle, the corners are not sharp.

Best for general hiking photography.

Bought this lens because it was the lightest and easy to carry but it also covered is very full range of wide to mild telephoto requirements. As a bonus it was also the least expensive. Though not the best it meets all my initial needs.

Pros: Light and well suited for my needs.

Cons: F4 max aperture. Though the R8 light amplification makes up for scenes so far.
