Small, great optics, great price

Great low-profile lens. AF/MF switch is nice to have, and the adjustable/assignable ring is a nice bonus on such a small and inexpensive lens. Have been using this mostly for landscapes but it does have decent bokeh when focused on closer objects. Sharp images and decent speed on autofocusing. Great speed in shipping from Crutchfield as always.

Pancake Deluxe

I bought the RF 28 2.8 STM, hoping it would make a nice lightweight walk around lens for my EOS R7. Indeed it's great: contrasty and sharp edge to edge wide open. It gets sightly sharper when stopped down, with optimal sharpness by F5.6. This pancake lens is so light it feels like I forgot to mount a lens-protrudes slightly more than a body cap. With APS-C cameras you can disable the lens profile in Lightroom and it still looks great (it's wider with profile disabled). I also tried it on my R6 MK II and while very good, the lens profile should be enabled to counter corner vignette. I estimate the uncorrected image is 25-26 mm but the profile crops the image to 28mm to nix the most of the vignette, brightens and stretches the corners and flattens the barreling. The result being, on full frame, corners are a little soft at F2.8 but sharp by F5.6. Compared with my RF 35 1.8 Macro IS STM, the 35mm is a level better along the periphery at F2.8 but, of course, is larger and more expensive. Wish Canon made a normal bayonet hood rather than the pricey filter-like screw in lens shade. All in all a perfect snapshot lens for the R7 and R10 and a decent lens for full frame if you don't mind computational corrections in PP.
