How does that much sound come out of the Devialet Dione Soundbar?
Jim from Katy, TX on 6/10/2025
Not only did it "clean up" my bookshelf, that was topped with B&W Diamond Bookshelf speakers, and a Diamond Center channel speaker, but this Devialet replaced them all. Including a Rel Ti9 sub, and a Rotel amplifier. At 950 watts of power, I don't miss the B&W speakers at all. With built-in subs, I have plenty of boom! I'm thrilled! Could have saved about $13,000, had I gone with the Dione Soundbar in the first place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

eARC/Atmos are completely unreliable
Carlos Castille from HILLSBOROUGH, NJ on 6/11/2024
I've got this soundbar several months ago and I've been quite impressed with the sound quality. Unfortunately, the eARC connection (which is required for Dolby Atmos) it's completely unreliable. You'll have to reboot the soundbar on a daily basis for the eARC connection to work, otherwise you'll have to connect the soundbar via optical/toslink or AirPlay, which will get you 5.1/spatial sound but not Dolby Atmos. After several emails back and forward with Devialet, they first advice me to "just use optical" but I paid for a high end Atmos enabled soundbar, so that wasn't enough for me, their best alternative was to send back my soundbar so they could inspect it and maybe send me a replacement. I reported the issue within days of purchasing the soundbar, so I was pretty disappointed with going through the hassle of shipping back a brand new soundbar and wait for weeks before they will replace it. Lastly, they said that the issue will be solved through a firmware update, but it's been months and no updates have been released. It's just a pity that such a nice sounding/looking soundbar won't have a reliable eARC, which is now pretty standard, but such a bad customer service from a premium brand like Devialet is even worse. If you don't mind rebooting your soundbar every time your using it, or don't mind losing Atmos by connecting via optical, this is a great sounding system, but I can't recommend paying such a premium price for a faulty device and bad custome
Pros: Nice looking and better sounding system
Cons: Faulty eARC connection a mediocre customer service

Quality build and sound
Eugene from Indianapolis, IN on 6/5/2024
Superb overall sound quality for music, movies and general streaming. Very good bass even without the Option for a subwoofer. Very easy setup using the Devialet app although the app layout is a bit confusing and could use better descriptions of activities. An equalizer function in the app would improve the overall sound texture. Build quality is excellent. ATMOS effects not stellar.
Pros: Very good midrange and surprisingly good bass for a standalone soundbar
Cons: Lack of an equalizer for more sound customization

Superb soundbar but no subwoofer
Leighton from La Mesa, CA on 2/20/2024
Let me start by saying the Devialet Dione is a superb soundbar. It is extremely precise and detailed. Sound is so clear that you almost can't tell how loud the soundbar is playing until you try to talk to someone in the same room. Then you notice you can hardly talk to each other without turning the volume down. The only reason I gave the Dione a 4 star vs a 5 star rating is because of the lack of a separate subwoofer. This is due to my own personal taste. When watching action movies I prefer to have the deep rumble that only a subwoofer can produce. The Dione can produce an amazing amount of base but still can't compete with a high end soundbar and a separate subwoofer. If deep, wall rattling base isn't your thing, and you want an extremely precise and detailed sound, the Dione might be perfect for you. If base is a big part of your movie experience, you might want to choose a high end soundbar with a separate subwoofer.
Pros: Good base Stellar vocals/midrange Extremely precise and detailed Better looking then other soundbars Feels solid and well built
Cons: No subwoofer Can't produce deep, wall rattling base

Does not work with LG
James D. from East Hampton NY on 12/17/2023
Sounds great when it's working but it's unable to maintain a connection to an LG HDMI. According to Devialet this is a know issue as of Dec 2023. They suggested I connect it via optical and forgo Atmos. The issue started when I was just outside the Crutchfield return window.
Pros: Sounds great when it works.
Cons: I wrote a great review of this product shortly after purchase. As it turns out, after replacing it once Devialet have now informed me that there is a 'hdmi handshake' issue with LG TVs. The solution they suggested was to use an optical connection, which of course would eliminate Atmos. They are apparently working on a fix but no date was given.

Wonderful!
Jeffrey from International Falls, MN on 11/25/2023
I was rethinking my purchase immediately after placing the order due to the price of this unit. However, I am confident in Crutchfield and their customer service, so I put it out of my mind. When it arrived the setup was very simple. Once listening to it I was totally blown away! It is, however, a soundbar and not a true surround sound system so I was expecting good sound quality better than the tv's speakers but not movie theater quality (I have a smaller living room and the layout wouldn't be conducive to having a surround sound system) so the sound bar is my best option. I think that the sound is very good! The speakers will handle sound as loud as you want without distortion or vibration. I am very happy with this purchase. As I mentioned in the cons section it is expensive, but as I enjoy watching movies, tv shows (news, etc) and YouTube as well as sports it makes watching these programs so much more enjoyable so the cost is worth it to me. I also purchased the separate remote. It would have been nice to have it included with the soundbar as it also is expensive, but it isn't so I purchased one. This is the longest review I have ever given, but I am very impressed with this soundbar and happy I purchased it from Crutchfield.
Pros: Sound, size, ease of setup
Cons: Spendy

I love this thing
James from East Hampton, NY on 8/15/2023
This soundbar has caused me to rethink what I want out of a 'surround' system. No, there aren't rear channels, and I don't miss them at all. There are no gimmicky sounds of things whizzing by. What you get is a whole different kind of immersion. Sound effects are powerful, clear, and precise, but never to the detriment of dialogue. I have not adjusted the volume mid-movie once, the effects are great (and this thing gets loud), but you never need to turn them down then turn it back up to hear quiet moments.
Pros: Immersive sound with very clear dialogue; better than the high end Center speaker on my primary system
Cons: Pricey. No rear channel if that's important to you.

Wonderful room filling sound
John from SAN JOSE, CA on 3/26/2023
I was worried that this sound bar would sound "boomy" based on some interview reviews. But, since my room is on the larger side with very tall vaulted ceilings I gave it a try. I am VERY happy I did! The Dione's sound does extend down to the deep bass, but its response is very flat. It easily fills the room with sound. We've watched several movies and listened to lots of lossless hi-res music from my Plex server. This is easily the best sound bar I've listened to. It is better than my Paradigm Soundscape, and my Paradigm PW Soundbars (which are both pretty good).
Pros: Wide and flat response Room filling
Cons: Expensive (but worth it)

INCREDIBLE sound bar!
George from Annville, PA on 7/2/2022
This was easy to set up and connect to my TV. I have just ordered a few $K UHD movies to play on my 4K UHD DVD player, and can't wait to hear this in action.
Pros: GREAT sound, especially on bass--no need for a sub.
Cons: Price? In my case, I need to get some blocks to move the TV up higher than the legs, as the sound bar covers the remote window.

Disappointing sound
Ryan from CHICAGO, IL on 5/12/2022
I auditioned the Dione at AXPONA, where it sounded fantastic, and I ordered it the day it was released to replace my JBL Bar 9.1. Unfortunately, it did not sound nearly as good in my living room. The bass was boomy and overwrought, making everything (especially dialogue) sound muffled. Part of the problem (I assume) is placement: this has rear-firing drivers, so it really needs to be placed alone on a table, as far from the wall as possible. But my TV sits on the table, and I could really only place this a few inches away from it. I did manage to push my TV farther back, but it only slightly alleviated the problem. To be fair, the sound quality varies based on source. Atmos programming from streaming services sounded significantly better than Dolby Digital 5.1 from DirecTV, which was the source of most of the muffled sound. But my previous soundbars (JBL, Vizio) and my new Sonos Arc sound(ed) fine with basic DirecTV audio. So the problem may be that the Dione just doesn't like standard Dolby Digital and doesn't try to make it sound good. Unfortunately, that's still 60%+ of what we watch. Finally, the Dione would occasionally emit a terrible loud buzz when switching sources on the TV (from DirecTV to Netflix, for instance). I would have to switch back and try again to get the audio instead of the buzz. This has never happened with the JBL, Vizio, or Sonos products connected to the same TV. On the plus side, it is a very handsome product.
Pros: Very handsome Solid construction Atmos content sounded good, especially at high volume No need for subwoofer (impressive bass) Decent (but not perfect) app
Cons: Non-Atmos content sounded quite bad (muffled) Rear-firing drivers make placement difficult No remote No display Glitchy (loud buzz when switching sources occasionally)

Devialet Dione
Lowell from Baltimore, MD on 4/28/2022
Very impressive and worth the price if you want an all-in-one solution to avoid separate sub and rears. I have a Sonos arc, sub, satellites in another room and the Dione in another. The Dione is equally enjoyable, if not more so with Atmos content. I wouldn't say one is better than the other. The Dione sounds more integrated while providing good L/R/C separation. Ir doesn't leave me wanting for more base. But not having physical/separate surrounds does sound different (not better or worse). I'm hoping they integrate Roon like they eventually did with the Phantoms.

Crutchfield customer from Dorado, PR on 4/25/2022
This replaced a dolby atmos setup from a well known brand and I can say the Dione is by far a superior product. The fact that you do not need a sub with this sound bar is mesmerizing. The sound is crystal clear with no distortion, the sound is so immersive that sometimes I feel there are speakers behind me.

Amazingly Great Soundbar
Jim from Newnan, GA on 4/23/2022
The Devialet Dione replaced a 2-year-old $700 name brand soundbar and sub-woofer. Wow! The difference is astounding! With the Dione, everything is much clearer, the subtleties of different instruments can be easily distinguished (and we hear instruments we never heard with the old soundbar), and speech is so incredibly easy to understand with the center orb. There is no distortion even at extremely high volume, and the bass can really pound--so much better than the sub-woofer of the replaced soundbar. The overall "personality" of the sound is really pleasing, and the sound stage is quite large. The only slight negative is that when the volume is changed with the TV remote (2021 Samsung QLED), there is no visual indication of the volume level.
Pros: Phenomenal Sound No Need for Sub-Woofer
Cons: Expensive, But Worth It
