Pendant-style speakers for rooms with high ceilings

For restaurants and retail spaces with high, open ceilings, pendant-style speakers like SoundTube's potent RS500i can be a handy option. These speakers include nine-foot hanging cables plus secondary cables for safety. And the speakers and hardware are weather-resistant for use in outdoor settings. Each speaker in the pair uses a 5-1/4" woofer and 1" titanium tweeter for articulate full-range sound. Patented BroadBeam® technology allows wide, even high-frequency dispersion with a coverage angle of 95°.

Built-in transformers with a range of power taps let you configure these speakers in a 70V or 100V commercial distributed audio system. Or you can bypass the transformers and power them with more traditional amplification.

Features

Overview: The Soundtube RS500i is a pendant-mount speaker (x2) designed for 25, 70, and 100 volt applications. The speaker features a 5-1/4" polypropylene woofer with a butyl rubber surround, and a 1" convex titanium tweeter housed in an ABS enclosure. The tweeter features Soundtube's BroadBeam waveguide technology for consistently smooth high frequencies. The RS500i speakers are ideal for open ceiling applications in retail stores, restaurants, educational facilities, and outdoor patio areas.

ZeroReflection Enclosure: The RS500i housing offers long lasting performance and durability with its injection molded ABS enclosure with glass fiber reinforcement, along with a powder-coated aluminum grille, both of which are paintable. The patented ZeroReflection ported enclosure offers exceptional rigidity for optimal sound reproduction. All of the speaker components have been weatherized for indoor/outdoor applications and carry UL1480 ratings and are CE and MIL Spec approved.

25/70/100 Volt: Designed primarily for distributed systems, the RS500i includes a 33 watt transformer housed inside the speaker enclosure. Wiring for each enclosure is made through a removable 4-pin Euroblock connector on top of the speaker that can accept speaker wire from 22-14 gauge in size. One pair of terminals is provided for the input while the other pair of paralleled terminals can be used for daisy-chaining multiple speakers. A rotary tap dial can easily be accessed from the grille side of the speaker by removing a small rubber plug. The following tap selections are provided, along with an 8-ohm bypass:

25V: 0.63W, 1.3W, 2.5W, 5W
70V: 3W, 6W, 9W, 17W, 33W
100V: 6W, 9W, 17W, 33W
Bypass: 8-Ohms

Installation: The pendant speaker is designed to be suspended using the included 10' galvanized steel cable suspension system. The top of the speaker housing contains the suspension point for the main cable as well as additional slots for attaching the provided safety cable. Two Gripple (SpeedClamp) wire hangers are included that allow the suspension cable length to be easily adjusted.
