Phenomenal improvement over stock speakers
Saul from Las Vegas, NV on 2/26/2025
2019 Chevrolet Malibu
These Hertz speakers are a huge improvement over the stock speakers. I did not just removed the stock speakers and replaced them with these ones. To the best of my DIY ability, I sound deadend all four doors and used speaker foam rings. These speakers were installed on the rear doors of a 2019 Chevy Malibu, and its component brother on the front doors. The sound coming from these speakers is phenomenal! They get loud, yet the high frequencies do not pierce your ears. The low mid frequencies are very punchy. These speakers are NOT subwoofers, so dont expect to your car windows to explode when playing loud music. If you will be using the stock radio's amplifier, then these speakers will work very well due to its high sensitivity.. and overall the audio will sound a whole lot better.
Pros: Very clear sound, get loud, the highs dont hurts your ears. The low/mids are very punchy.
Cons: None yet.

24 Subi Outback Wilderness w/HK system.
Dave from Scottsdale, AZ on 1/13/2025
2024 Subaru Outback
Installed on a 24-outback wilderness HK system. Rear doors, not good, to midrange for me and it sounds very thin like they weren't even installed. And I even soundproofed the doors. I have to set the fader towards the front to turn the high pitch tweeter and the thin sounding "woofer"? down. The HK system rear speakers themselves weigh close to a pound more than the Hertz magnet I probably wouldn't of bought them knowing that, and the fronts ( Focal ISU 690) weight about 1/2 pound more than the stock speakers and the bass on those are so good I had to turn the Bass down on the EQ. I started with 3 stars (Hertz) and as I write this review, I realize that they kind of suck for my liking, I'm sure they're fine in other situations so I'm dropping down to 1 star. No offense to Crutchfield. They're great.
Pros: Hmm..
Cons: Read the review...

Excellent sound at a middle of the road price
Dustin from Seminole, OK on 1/10/2025
2022 Chevrolet Camaro
Great replacement for OEM. Excellent sound quality and construction. Installed in 2022 Camaro SS w/o Bose system. Night and day difference between them. They sound great on OEM power, but would shine with more wattage feeding them. A subwoofer is needed to round out the low frequency range.
Pros: Warm mids and crisp highs make these a listening pleasure for the ears.
Cons: Low frequency response is lacking, but expected from a mid range speaker.

Richard from Depew, NY on 1/15/2024
2023 GMC Sierra 1500
2023 gmc sierra 1500 non-Bose. Excellent sound quality, much better than stock. You will lose bass though so if you are not compensating with a subwoofer then these may not be the best choice. If you are buying a 6.5 woofer for bass though you may have bigger issues. Also to note, these are not being amplified so if you have a 50-75w amp you may have better luck with low end. Quality of mids and highs are 1000% better though! A+
Pros: Sound quality
Cons: I guess less bass but that isn't really a con, just a side effect of not having enough power

Great Replacement Speakers for 2010 Accord
George from Eagle Mountain, UT on 10/1/2023
2010 Honda Accord
These were replacements for the OEM rear deck woofers in my 2010 Accord EX-L. They were also paired with the Hertz K170 (front door woofer replacements), and using the factory Amp. The results were that of a clearer and crisper mid range, and a punchier bass. At this price point, the DCX 165.3 are more than an acceptable upgrade for factory speakers
Pros: Crisp clear sound. Cost
Cons: Not sure of durability

Make your Bronco Soundstage come alive!!
Robert from Lakewood, OH on 8/30/2023
2022 Ford Bronco
These Hertz DCX Co-axials play very well with my Bronco's Base Sound System! 2022 Bronco Badlands 2 Door - Hertz DCX 165.3 in kick panels, Hertz DCX 100.3 in dash and pods with no bass blockers. Excellent mid and high fidelity, bass, and loudness -Easily overcomes Bronco's inherit road and wind noise! The soundstage is front biased -and you can feel the bass at your feet. The rear speakers are relegated to filling in the soundstage -but do so wonderfully. The Bronco's audio system's DSP seems to like these speakers -no amp needed. It took a few days for these to "break-in" -now I'm smiling! I appreciated the complementary install kit and detailed install directions, although the screws that came with the speakers were too small for the adapter rings -I went with #8 3/4" round head screws from the hardware store to complete the install. Also, I placed a 6" square of Boom Mat on the sheet metal behind each kick panel speaker. Overall -Super Happy with my purchase and Crutchfield's excellent service!

Used these to replace rear door speakers in a 2015 Prius along with Focal Inside IS TOY 690 in the front. I didn't pick the Focal Inside IC TOY 165 for the rear as these were half the price (the kids in the back seat won't know or care about the difference). With these the sound output went up slightly with the stock head unit, as these are very efficient. The highs are clearer, the upper bass is tighter, but the lower bass is a bit less present. The highs are not on the level of the Focals, however, as those inverted domes are amazing. I will add and Alpine KTP-445u and an underseat sub soon. Really looking forward to hearing them sing with more power and a small sub covering the low end. Great product for the price.

2020 F150 Rear door speaker upgrade
Crutchfield customer from Medina, OH on 8/25/2020
I purchased these for the rear doors of my 2020 F150 super crew, these speakers are a great way to upgrade your factory sound system. If your not aware the factory rear door speakers are so subpar, you will be pleasantly surprised by the improve bass and mid range sound, speakers are crisp and clear.
Pros: Easy to install with included speaker brackets/adapters. I recommend using thin weather strip between speakers and adapter plates, I as well use 3m tape between door and adapter plate.
Cons: Need to drill hole to pass wires through adapter bracket. Screws provided are subpar use machine screws with lock washer and nut. Wire adapter provided will need to be change on I believe negative side as terminal spade is to small. I used provide spade and soldered on.

Clear Volume With Factory Power!
Fred from Canyon Country, CA on 6/6/2020
2015 Mazda CX-5, non Bose, 6 speaker system. I originally bought the Hertz DCX 165.3 as rear fill, with Morel Maximos up front. After connecting to factory head unit power, I had to switch them to the front to lead the way! These not only blew away the factory speakers, but were both louder and clearer than the Morels. RMS rating was 60W, but handle low power perfectly due to their 93.5 efficiency rating. Hit hard for mids, without distorting even at max volume. I know they will sound even better with an amp, but even as a stock speaker upgrade these are great. I did use Dynamat under the speaker adapter ring which added more volume and clarity. Considering my other car runs Alpine SPX components and a previous car ran Infinity Kappas, these are a strong purchase for a quick sound upgrade and reasonable price. I definitely recommend. One thing to note - the positive and negative terminal connectors on the speaker are both the same size (not your typical small and large, so you may have to change one terminal adapter on your factory speaker adapter if you are using)
Pros: Efficient, great volume with factory power. Clean bright highs, hard hitting mids. (Think RATM Take the Power Back bass drum intro)
Cons: None!

Great off axis sound!
John from Suisun City on 4/28/2020
Mazdaspeed3 Equipment: Kenwood DDX6902 JL 300/4v3 No DSP Impressive speaker. It's bright, though. Can easily over power or match your front stage, so I wouldn't recommend as rear fill. Beautiful looking speaker and the build is nice. The terminals are sturdy and I really like the orange rubber on the magnet because it offsets the sleek design of its face. If you wanted these just to replace your stock speakers and not use components, I would recommend as the sound delivery is very broad. I have these as rear fill and it's very off axis, close to 90° and I can clearly notice the speaker to my left. I just turned down it's gain on my head unit and I'm good with it. Don't hold me to this recommendation if you don't power them with an amp. I hooked them straight up to one. I bought these because I really like Hertz Mille, however it's nothing like the Mille series. Not sure what I was thinking.
Pros: Bright, off axis sound is great. Good looking speaker and matching build quality
Cons: Not good for rear fill, because of how bright it is. Not warm in the slightest. Hard to believe it's from the same company that makes the Mille speakers.

I just had a pair of these installed today to replace a pair of Rockford Fosgate R165X3's that I purchased from Crutchfield. These actually sound much better and of course they are twice as much. It's definitely worth the extra money. Lets face it. The price isn't bad even on a budget build for a pair of 6 and 1/2 speakers. Very crisp highs. They have a good signal that I would almost compare to HD radio. I went ahead and ordered the 5 and 1/4 DCX from Crutchfield to replace my rear speakers as well. Crutchfield is my favorite online retailer when it comes to stereo equipment. Their customer service is top notch. Very friendly staff.
Pros: Crisp sound. Not overpriced especially for being Hertz.

Excellent!
Eric from San Diego, CA on 5/27/2019
2011 Toyota 4Runner
I cannot believe how freekin hard these 6.5 hit, also clear & crisp & (((loud))). I have them running parallel with Alpine S 6.5's for rear door and tailgaite of 4Runner (driven by 85W RMS Alpine Amp), along with 300W self powered 10" sub. Both sets of 6.5 speakers sounded ok at first, but i thought the Hertz were distorting on lows... then I soundproofed the rear gate and sealed all the holes (the rattling, which I mistook for distortion, stopped), all of the sudden these Hertz suckers started THUMPING hitting crisp highs, huge clean base, great mids... They actually hit so hard I could barely hear the subwoofer anymore... I couldn't believe it (Alpines were also helping but Hertz started to really shine). I also have Hertz 6x9 (uno line) in the front seat door, but these 6.5 now have even more base for some reason. I'm a believer now! I recommend!!! make sure you install them properly, use good clean power (amp), sound proof & seal the door well, then you may have a excellent experience. Funny thing... I almost ripped out and returned the entire system because the "big blue box" installer totally messed up the amp input (low input setting vs high 6V RCA input causing huge static sound), and messed up x-over settings (they crossed over the 6.5s as though they were just tweets)... Once I found the issue's, the sound got really good, and then became EXCELLENT after soundproofing the tailgate (this allowed the Hertz to perform to their potential).
Pros: Crisp Clear Highs, Nice Mids, Great Lows... EXTREMELY LOUD AND CLEAN
Cons: Nothing

Work great for a Mercedes Sprinter speaker upgrade with stock head.
Crutchfield customer from Seattle, WA on 5/3/2019
I bought these plus the Hertz Deici tweeter and the Deici 6x9 3-way to install in a Sprinter van keeping the stock head unit. These sound great and work well with the stock head unit because they are so efficient. There is more volume than I can use even in the van, which is not the quietest of vehicles. The 6x9s are in the rear. The tweeter is a drop-in for the stock tweeter in an NCV3 Sprinter and this 165.3 2-way fits into the door with a 1" thick spacer ring -- no trimming of the door panel is required and you keep the stock look. Hint: disconnect the stock center speaker.
Pros: Great sound throughout the range.
Cons: None really....
