Features
Overview: The Hertz DP 1.500 mono amplifier features Advance D-Class (ADC) technology to deliver 2-ohm stable performance and efficiency in a compact form that's ideal for installation in tight spaces.
Power Output Specs: Hertz publishes the following power output specs:
- RMS Power @ 1% THD:
- 4-Ohms: 280 watts x 1
- 2-Ohms: 500 watts x 1
- RMS Power @ 14.4 VDC, 10% THD:
- 4-Ohms: 250 watts x 1
- 2-Ohms: 590 watts x 1
- Additional Specifications:
- Frequency Response (-3 dB): 10-500 Hz
- S/N Ratio (A-weighted @ 1V input): 99 dBA
Universal Compatibility: The Hertz DP 1.500 is designed for universal operation with a wide variety of vehicles and OEM audio systems. The amp can operate on supply voltages ranging from 6.5-17.5 volts. It also features built-in Universal Speakers Simulator (USS) technology. USS is a dynamic load circuit that presents a speaker channel with impedance low enough to keep an OEM head unit/amplifier from muting its output, but not low enough to cause over-current or heating problems. These two combined features make the DP 1.500 amplifier ideal for OEM integration.
Auto Remote Turn-On (ART): The DP 1.500 features ART (Auto Remote Turn-On) which automatically powers on and off the amplifier when an audio signal (or lack of one) is detected on the speaker-level inputs. This is especially helpful when connecting the amplifier to an OEM radio. It eliminates the need for running a remote lead from the head unit to the amp. ART is only available with Speaker Level inputs.
Optional HRC 02 Remote Control: The Hertz DP 1.500 mono amplifier is compatible with the optional Hertz HRC 02 Subwoofer Volume Remote Control (sold separately), letting you adjust the output volume of the amplifier from the front of your vehicle. The rotary control lets has a level range from +6dB to -20dB. The HRC 02 includes a 16.5' connection cable that plugs into a 2-pin socket on the amplifier.
Amplifier Controls & Indicators: The Hertz DP 1.500 has a full array of filters and controls to help you configure your audio system for maximum performance.
- Level: A rotary control lets you match the input of the amplifier to the output of your head unit. The amp will accept either line-level or speaker-level inputs. The sensitivity range is 0.32 V (320 mV) to 8 V (line-level) and 1.6 to 20 V (speaker-level).
- Auto Turn-On: A push-button switch lets you activate the Auto Remote Turn-on (ART) feature when using speaker-level inputs. The button should be turned Off when using RCA line-level input signals.
- Filter: A push-button switch can activate the internal low-pass filter.
- Lo Pass: A rotary dial lets you select a cutoff frequency from 50 Hz to 250 Hz when the Filter switch is On.
- Bass Boost: A rotary dial lets you add up to +9 dB of boost @ 50 Hz, adding extra punch if running a subwoofer.
- Phase: A rotary dial lets you change the phase of the output signal from 0° to 180°.
- Subsonic: A push-button switch lets you activate the Subsonic Filter which removes very low, subsonic frequencies (25 Hz and lower) from the speaker outputs to prevent damage to your subwoofers. The Subsonic filter has a 24dB/octave slope.
- LED Indicator: A Power LED on the top panel will light solid Orange when the amplifier is powered on and operating normally, and will flash Orange if the amp over-heats or sees a short-circuit.
Connections:
- Power/Ground: Set-screw terminals are provided for the power and ground terminals, accepting wire up to 4 AWG. An 8 AWG amplifier wiring kit is recommended and is sold separately.
- Fuses: The DP 1.500 includes one 30A ATO fuse installed in the amp chassis; a spare 30A fuse is included.
- Speaker Output: A single pair of set-screw terminals provide the mono speaker output, accepting wire up to 12 AWG.
- Low-Level (RCA) Inputs: A pair of stereo RCA inputs are provided for connecting an aftermarket head unit to the amplifier; accepts signals ranging from 320 mV to 8 V.
- Speaker-Level Inputs: The DP 1.500 includes an 8" 4-pin speaker-level input harness that can accept input signals ranging from 1.6 V to 20 V.
- Pre-Outs: A pair of RCA audio outputs lets you pass full-range audio signals out to an additional amplifier. The outputs can be used with high- or low-level input signals.
- Remote Level Control: A 2-pin socket on the amp chassis lets you connect an optional HRC 02 remote level control (sold separately), letting you adjust the output volume of the amplifier from the dashboard.
