Great speakers
Benjamin from Indianapolis, IN on 6/21/2025
2017 Toyota Tundra
Sounds good. Possibly the worst tweeter mounting system I've ever seen. You're supposed to push the tweeter into a cup that otherwise doesn't have a hole for the wires or no way of mounting the tweeter. Also, the soldering for the wires stuck out so I never could press it into either fitting. I ended up double sided tape sticking it to some plumbers tape and bolting them down with that.
Pros: Good treble without needing EQ adjustment. Clear at loud volumes. Good miss and mid-bass.
Cons: Worst possible tweeter mounting system

Very punchy speakers
Saul from Las Vegas, NV on 2/23/2025
2019 Chevrolet Malibu
Installed these along with its brother the coaxial version on a 2019 Chevy Malibu. No external amp, just the onboard stock amp. I sound treated all four doors, to the best of my DIY ability. These speakers sound phenominal! Huge difference from the stock. These speakers are NOT subwoofers, so dont expect to be sounding of car alarms when you drive by other vehicles. However, they sound excellent and do not distort when you crank up the volume. They sound very punchy in the low mid frequencies.
Pros: The highs are very crisp, yet pleasant to the ears. They do not pierce your ears. The woofers have great midrange and the low mids are very punchy.
Cons: None yet.

Just ok
John from Olympia, WA on 9/8/2024
These are better than my stock speakers, but the tweeters are very tinny, and I have the treble and midrange at zero. I may use them for a few years then upgrade.
Pros: Better than stock manufacture speakers
Cons: Very tinny, can't get them to adjust any lower.

Very happy with the speakers. Not so much the tweeters. They are tinny sounding and shrill. The directions only just qualify as directions. Virtually useless. It took an hour for me to mate the tweeter to its casing. **would suggest just buying the speakers and purchase better tweeters seperately

Great fit, thin on bass
Chris from HOLLY SPRINGS, NC on 4/25/2023
2022 Mazda CX-5
I don't want to be unfair to these speakers and I admit I don't have anything else to compare them to, but I was disappointed in these by themselves. The bass is audible when you are parked but road noise overcomes them quickly. They had great midrange and (overly) bright treble (around 2500 Hz - brought under control via EQ) but the bass was virtually nonexistent. My car is a 2022 Mazda CX-5 with the 6 channel non Bose system and I knew when I bought it that I was probably going to replace the factory gear to get the sound that I wanted. I went on to add a Kenwood 5-channel amp, AC LC7i, Kenwood 12" sealed enclosure subwoofer, and Focal rear speakers. (I chose the front and rear speakers per Crutchfield's recommendations for fit.) These sound fantastic as part of that system! If I was to rate them as a component in the overall system I would give them 4/5. They fit perfectly and they were very reasonably priced. The terminals on the speaker were the same size but the wiring harness had one large and one small connector. Cut the small one off and soldered it directly to the speaker terminal and moved on. Would recommend as part of a complete system upgrade.
Pros: Great as part of a system with a subwoofer
Cons: Overly bright tweeters require graphic EQ to bring under control

Bad included wires
disappointed from in MO on 3/24/2023
2002 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class
The included wire for the crossovers to the speakers is absolute junk. It has to be at best 22 gauge, maybe 24. How this is supposed to carry power from the amp or supposed to connect to 14 gauge speaker wire is questionable at best. I swear it looks like it beings in outta be in a cat6 cable.

Harsh Highs
Quinn from Tampa, Fl on 2/11/2023
I was kind of disappointed with this product. It was my first mod for my car, and so doubly crushed me. They sound better than my stock speakers, but can be painful to listen to if your music has any highs at all. Just get some different speakers.
Pros: Great bass Included crossovers
Cons: Mids are. mid. Screechy

Hertz DSK 165.3
Jacob from Fresno, CA on 12/28/2022
These were ordered based on the recommendation for my budget, Pioneer FH-X830BHS, Hertz DCX 165.3, Hertz DSK 165.3. I opted not to get an amp due to budget and don't know if this is the cause of the issue. As others have mentioned in the reviews the highs are harsh. It's uncomfortable to listen to each time a prominent cymbal is hit; vocals with the "essss", "shhhh" or "teh" sounds seem to have extra emphasis or trailing sound. I don't know if it's the lack of an amp or the processor box that splits the sound between the tweeter and the door speaker, will update if I found out. I wouldn't recommend these without an amp, don't know though if an amp will make them any better.

Budget SQ set with harsh tweeters
Maxim from Bedford, MA on 12/12/2022
2019 Toyota RAV4
These are well known budget SQ speakers with high sensitivity to upgrade stock sound system without additional amplifiers. The only downside is tweeters being too harsh. As a relatively easy fix the crossover can be modified to cut them higher, but it would just make things better. Ideally tweeters should be upgraded. If you plan to upgrade them there is a price matter to address, this much for this set and ~$60 for new tweeters puts the price range into a higher league. Focal 165 as retails for $370 now and truly speaking I'd take them now if I knew about the tweeter before the purchase.

Hertz DSK 165.3
WYATT from WHITEFISH, MT on 12/11/2022
1996 Toyota 4Runner
After 1.5 years of ownership: These are garbage. After a year and a half of ownership, I have HAD IT with these! I threw these in the trash and purchased FOCAL FLAX EVO 165 FSE and I finally have good music again (actually I have phenomenal music now). These HERTZ DSK 165.3 are nothing but high range tweeters screaming at you. They have virtually no mid and absolutely no low range. I had my Equalizer highs adjusted to zero and mids and bass adjusted to max, trying to adapt. Originally, I just wanted good speakers for the front and rear doors of my '96 4Runner. I didn't want super high end nor bottom of the barrel budget speakers. I knew nothing of this brand but assumed this price range of speakers must be better than cheaper speakers. That assumption is wrong. The less expensive Alpines, Fosgate, Kenwood, etc. are far better. When I finally went to the Hertz website, I discovered this DIECI line is their "Entry Level" speakers. Besides no mid or low range, the frames are super cheap stamped steel like a cheap big box store speaker. Everything about them looks and feels and sounds cheap. Why these entry level speakers cost so much I have no idea. They are equal to low end price point speakers. These were a disappointment from the first 10 seconds I turned them on, and a year and a half later they never got better. Don't waste your money. Most low to mid price speakers probably sound better. In pure frustration, I replaced them with FOCAL FLAX EVO 165 FSE and there is an astounding difference.
Pros: Crystal clear highs
Cons: No mids or lows.

Marciano from Bloomsdale, MO on 6/27/2022
2022 Honda Ridgeline
The sensitivity on these are great and would be good for Jeeps or open top vehicles. The bad is their is too much emphasis on the mid range which drowns out detail on the high end. I am a drummer so I like hearing the ride cymbal and hi hats, sometimes they get washed out. They are great for screaming guitars and acoustical music however.
Pros: screaming mids great for acoustical good for voice
Cons: tweeters focus too much on mids as some have sad lack of bass somewhat

Too high tweeters, low Bass
I installed it on my Hyundai Ioniq 5, the tweeters are overlapping any other sounds, the bass is so minimal, people are feeling that the sound sound like a scream, I might buy an amplifier to try to correct the speakers output.
Pros: Midrange is good
Cons: Minimal Bass Scream tweeters

2019 Toyota Corolla
So, when I bought my 2019 Corolla XSE hatchback, some of the speakers were blown. This is a Toyota, I thought. Eh, I can get by with stock speakers. I called Crutchfield, and they suggested very strongly I change that opinion and recommended these. Am I ever glad I listened. The tweeters are lively and bright.. the mids are fantastic. The sound is clear, and with a good recording, the sound is spectacular. I strongly recommend these as an improvement to stock speakers.
Pros: Clear Easy to install
Cons: The speaker connectors are labelled + and -, but they are the same size. There's no visual differentiation between them, so be careful while connecting.

Hertz isn't all that
Richard from TULSA, OK on 7/20/2021
2016 Buick Enclave
One mid drivers works good sounds clear, the bass isn't that extraordinary. The other one sounds like it has something loose in it. Like the wires built into it keep vibrating against the cone. I took it apart to make sure everything was attached correctly and nothing was in the way. It was fastened very well to the door with the supplied adapters. Which is a bonus you get from Crutchfield. I added some sound deadening material to the inside of the door. It is only happening on one side. I'm going to see if I can get it replaced or returned.
Pros: Haven't found any yet
Cons: One of the drivers makes aweird noise like it has wires loose.

2005 Toyota Tacoma
Very crisp quality sound. So far these are still on Deck power and they still sound good at 14w. Ill have to see how they sound once they are broke in, the bass is already really nice and punchy when demanded. The mids are amazing, but the highs seem pretty harsh at times. Ill see how that plays out long term.
Pros: Excellent sound quality at a reasonable price range
Cons: Tweeter is a bit harsh right out of the box. Making it a little piercing at times. May require a different unit to make it pleasant for listening long term
