Customer Q&A

10 questions already asked

Q
Do I need to hook these up to a crossover??
dominick myan  Jun 19, 2023
1 answer
A
These Hertz K 170's have a crossover included that is in-line on the tweeter wiring, Dominick. The woofers will be directly connected to your vehicles wiring (or amp). These particular components are a great choice for replacing the original tweeters in the doors or the dash without having to mount an external "box-style" crossover. These Hertz K 170's would sound fantastic with the Alpine KTA-450 power pack in the link below! https://www.crutchfield.com/S-jxuioQOW623/p_500KTA450/Alpine-KTA-450-Power-Pack.html

Q
I have a 2004 4runner with the stock JBL Synthesis system. I bought an aftermarket head unit and would also like to replace the speakers. Will these speakers work with my aftermarket head unit?
daniel  Jun 03, 2023
1 answer
A
Your vehicle includes a factory amplifier, which means that the speakers would not be directly powered by your aftermarket head unit. You could consider bypassing your factory amplifier, or you may consider different speakers to take the place of your factory 2-ohm speakers. Our advisors can offer personal recommendations via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
do i need 2 component systems to replace 2 speakers, or will 2 component systems fit all 4 of my front door speakers?
olivia  Dec 30, 2022
1 answer
A
Good question. One set of components will come with 2 woofers and 2 tweeters which is enough to fit a typical front door component system. If you have any questions in regards to your particular set we have friendly advisors standing by at 800.324.9695 so please give us a call and we be more than happy to get you taken care of!

Q
How many come with order?
michael  Dec 30, 2022

Greetings Michael, and thank you for your question. This set of the Hertz K 170 is a pair. You get 2- 6.75 inch woofers, and 2 tweeters.

Q
Is the compatible with the Volvo s80s premium sound system ?
simuel  Jul 29, 2022
1 answer
A
The Volvo premium sound system used a 2 ohm load and those Hertz are a 4 ohm load so if you used them you would notice a drop in volume.

Q
Do I need a crossover box to hook this up to my amp or do I just connect the tweeters directly with the 6 3/4 speaker in parallel?
christian  Jan 05, 2022
1 answer
A
I can't remember if these came with crossovers. I have them powered by my head unit and swapped out tweets and mids in stock location

Q
Are these speakers compatible with 2009 Audi A4 Quattro stock stereo????
reaper  Oct 29, 2021
1 answer
A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
Do I need to install the tweeters that came with the speakers to produce optimal sound? Where would I install them?
thomas  Sep 16, 2021
2 answers
A
Yes. Without the tweeters you are not going to get the full range of sound. What are you installing them in? I put them in my 2007 Silverado with the Bose system and they fit in the factory tweeter location with a tiny bit of modification.
kristofer  Sep 22, 2021
A
I installed mine in the stock location. Had to modify it a bit due to them being slightly bigger. I would assume they sound better due to them being of a more premium material than the stock ones and also the size difference.

Q
K 170 lacks bass/low end. Help?
andy  Apr 15, 2021

A
Love the brand did not like the speakers No mid base sounded horrible I ended up sending them back
chris  Apr 15, 2021
A
The K 170 in my experience are great mid speakers, they sound amazing for the price, as far as bass is concerned, they are slightly better than my stock but not by much. If you want any kind of bass I would recommend a subwoofer. Even a small 8in will get the job done depending on your vehicle. These due pair great with my setup, I am able to play as loud as my ears can handle with no distortion.

Q
Which grills cover these speakers?
engelbrecht  Apr 03, 2020
2 answers
A
Factor Grills
erik  Apr 04, 2020
A
Typically on most cars the factory door panels cover the speakers (which is why most speakers don't come with grills). Crutchfield does a great job ensuring that the speakers fit the top and bottom mounting depth's when you input your car's info.
