Features

Size Classification Note: Some manufacturers, including Hertz, call this size woofer a 6-1/2". Because it requires a larger cutout than a standard 6-1/2" speaker, Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size as a 6-3/4". Please enter you vehicle information to confirm fit in your vehicle.

Boundary Free Surround: This technology provides more woofer cone surface area than other speakers of the same size, enabling it to move more air. The surrounds are made of rubber, ensuring thermal and mechanical linearity.

Klippel Verified: The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and computer software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, helps Hertz optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

Woofer Grille: The three piece grille can be used several different ways. All three pieces (black plastic frame, gray plastic inner grill, and black steel mesh) can be mounted together. The frame and mesh can be mounted without the inner grille, the frame and inner grille can be mounted without the mesh, and the inner grille can be mounted alone.

Tweeter Mounting: Brackets are included for flush mounting, angled surface mounting (60° or 30°), and mounting behind the factory grille.

Tweeter Mounting Dimensions:

Flush Mount 60° Angled Surface Mount 30° Angled Surface Mount Top Mount (behind factory grille) Bottom Mount (behind factory grille)
Mounting Height 0.437" 1.577" 1.885" 0.965" 0.357"

Crossovers: Each crossover has a tweeter output level switch; choose between flat and +2dB. The crossover point is 3.5 kHz, the low pass slope is 6 dB/octave, and the high pass slope is 12 dB/octave. They have screw terminal inputs and outputs that will accept bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.315" wide.

Crossover Dimensions:

  • Width: 4.02"
  • Height: 1.47"
  • Depth: 3.02"

Customer Q&A

Q
Hertz product page state 3ohms but it list 4ohms on Crutchfield which is correct? And what would you set an amp that has either 2ohm or 4ohm settings?
donald  Apr 08, 2025
1 answer
A
This model, the MPK 165.3 Pro has a 4 ohm impedance. The MPK 165P.3 Pro system is the version that is a 3 ohm speaker.

Q
How would you compare these to the focal flax series??
robert  Nov 28, 2024
1 answer
A
The Focal PS 165 FE Flax speakers sound amazing, I use them in my daily-driver and can testify to that! The Hertz MPK 165.3 PRO Mille speakers have a little more low bass and can handle a bit more power if you plan to run an amplifier that delivers more than 70-watts RMS. If you have a good pair of headphones, you can audition both virtually with our SpeakerCompare portal below in the comfort of your own home! https://www.crutchfield.com/speakercompare/

Q
Willa 4 channel 75 watts each work well with these speakers ?
hermes  Sep 16, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Hermes. Thank you for your question. The Mille's can take up to 110 watts, so the 75 will run these nicely.

Q
Are they made in China?
andy  Aug 28, 2023
1 answer
A
Great question, Andy. These Hertz MPK 165.3 PRO Mille is manufactured in China.
bo  Aug 29, 2023 (Staff)
Q
Are these 110 Watts RMS a pair (both tweeters and both woofers) or per one (woofer and tweeter) channel?
khalid  May 29, 2021
5 answers
A
These are 110 watts a pair. So one woofer and tweeter would be 110 watts RMS. Hertz component speakers sound amazing. I purchased these to upgrade a pair of Hertz Hi Energy components in the front of the vehicle.
dennis  Jun 15, 2021
A
I'm thinking a pair but not really sure
jeffrey  Jun 11, 2021
A
The Hertz MPK 165.3 PRO Power Handling Continuous is 110 watts per set of speakers (woofer and tweeter) and peak would be 220 watts at 4 ohms, for the total system both woofer and tweeter would be 220 watts continuous and peak of 440 watts
juan raul  Jun 10, 2021
A
Each are 110 so per One basically
danny  Jun 10, 2021
A
Per channel - I run the hertz in my front doors and a pair of Focal expert "flax" 6.5" separates in the rear . Pushing them with a jl audio XD600/6 And two jl audio 10w6V3 in separate jl audio 10w6H.O boxes- each one gets a JL audio XD600/1 --I need to invest in some SMD TUNING TOOLS ASAP but it as serious potential-
branson  May 29, 2021
Q
Can you ditch the crossovers and use this set as an active setup? I have a Audiocontrol D-6.1200 amp with two extra channels not being currently used.
matthew eric  Nov 03, 2020
4 answers
A
Yes you can
juan raul  Jun 10, 2021
A
i would say yes,but make sure your setting are good and you dont have any clipping.
robert  Nov 03, 2020
A
I don't see why you couldn't, but I wouldn't. Those crossovers are made to go with that specific setup. You can buy Hertz tweeters separately if you want to go that way.
kevin  Nov 03, 2020
A
As far as I have read yes you can.
erik  Nov 03, 2020
Q
What amp is everyone using for these? Or what amp is recommended. I see the sound Ordanance m100-2 is exactly 110 rms but the reviews are not too good. Any suggestions?
luis anthony  Jul 08, 2020

A
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

robert  Nov 03, 2020
A
Yes
kevin  Nov 03, 2020
A
No, they didn't come with a tweeter mount but I didn't need one because I put these in a 2013 chevy avalanche in OEM location and they fit perfectly
irby  Mar 13, 2020
A
Yes, they come with a surface mount and a above surface angle mount.
michael  Mar 12, 2020
Q
why so expensive where are the specs??
martin  Aug 08, 2018
2 answers
A
Why so expensive?? Clearly you are unfamiliar with Hertz Audio and their quality. Go to a local M&B and audition, the sound is beautiful when powered with at least 150rms, then go to Crutchfield as these are $600 plus in a local store.

We are still completing our research on them and will have more specs coming later. The specs we have so far seem like they have some technology in them that other speakers don't have and I bet that's part of their cost. I'd say give us a couple weeks or so and we should have our research completed with a copy of the manual online too. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101
