About the Hertz MPS 300 S2

More bass in a smaller space
More bass in a smaller space
When Hertz designed their Mille Pro Series MPS 300 S2 12" shallow-mount subwoofer, the goal was to bring high-powered bass to even smaller spaces than their previous models. They've succeeded. Their advanced design delivers a sub with over 20% greater cone excursion than a standard sub and a mounting depth of only 3.5". It'll pound out the lows in a sealed enclosure as small as 0.8 cubic feet.
Built thin to win
MPS subs are designed from the bottom up to minimize size while maximizing output. The design's integrated support for the voice coil and spider structure allows the magnetic components to be moved inwards, resulting in shallower overall depth and cone excursion capacity. A tough polypropylene cone and rugged die-cast aluminum frame supply a solid foundation for the sub's 500 watts of RMS power handling (1000 watts peak). You'll get all the bass you're looking for in a package that fits into smaller spaces.

Features
Terminals: The spring post terminals are turned sideways, so they have no impact on overall depth. They will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs (but not dual), and bare wire up to 8 gauge.
Klippel Verified: The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Hertz optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.
Sealed Box: Hertz recommends a sealed enclosure volume minimum of 0.8 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable for all types of music.
Ported Box: Hertz recommends an optimum ported enclosure volume of 0.9 ft³ with one 3.86" x 3.26" x 23.82 long port. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, maximizing bass output for a given amplifier.
Crossover: When using a sealed enclosure, Hertz recommends the low pass crossover point be 70 Hz - 80 Hz and a subsonic filter at 15 Hz. With a ported enclosure, the crossover point is lowered to 60 Hz - 70 Hz and the subsonic filter raised to 20 Hz. A 24 dB/octave slope is recommended for all crossovers.
