RCF's SUB-8003-AS-MK3 powered sub combines an 18" woofer in a heavy-duty ported cabinet with a built-in amp that puts out up to 2,200 watts of power, a union that supplies an impressive 135 dB low-end punch. Adding a pair of these powerhouse subs to your powered speakers will transform a good sound system into a full-range firebreather.

The lowest lows

Bass Motion Control processing allows the specially designed 18" woofer with its 4" voice coil to produce impressive bass without distortion. Instead of using high-pass filters that can cause phase problems with other speakers, RCF's processing maps the cone's behavior and produces an algorithm that limits cone over-excursion, allowing it to handle even the lowest lows. Your audience will hear and feel the bass it craves.

Seriously versatile control

The rugged birch plywood cabinet is protected by a textured black finish. On the back panel, you'll find stereo XLR inputs and outputs, along with a rotary encoder and a small screen. With this system setup encoder, you can access these functions and adjustments:

input gain reduction to control level (up to 99 dB reduction in 1 dB increments);
speaker delay settings to ensure this sub fires along with your main speakers (up to 20 meters);
speaker presets — extended low, hard (more pressure at 50-60 Hz), cardioid.

The cardioid configuration pattern under Speaker Presets is useful for keeping the bass out front when you're running multiple subwoofers. Another switch lets you choose between sending a full-range signal to your powered speakers or using a high-pass filter to remove the low bass from your mains, allowing them to play louder and cleaner.

Built tough

The heavy-duty cabinet is protected by a scratch-resistant polyurea coating. Two handles make it easy to move this powerful sub, and the pole-mount socket handles the standard speaker pole. This sub will add the bass you need to play or host successful gigs in larger clubs, halls, theaters, and other venues.

Overview: The RCF SUB 8003-AS Mk3 is a powered 18" PA subwoofer designed for live sound applications, featuring a heavy-duty state-of-the-art transducer and a powerful 2200-watt (peak) Class-D amplifier. It features two balanced XLR inputs, with linked full-range or filtered pass-thru connectors, and built-in DSP, making it an ideal complement for 10" and 12" full-range loudspeakers. The SUB 8003-AS Mk3 is built specifically for highly demanding live/touring applications.

18" Subwoofer: The RCF SUB 8003-AS features a single high-power 18" transducer with a 4" voice coil that can deliver sound pressure levels up to 135 dB.

2200W Peak Class-D Amplification: The RCF SUB 8003-AS Mk3 features a built-in Class-D amplifier that can deliver up to 2200-watts of dynamic power (1100W RMS) to the 18" driver. The amp is designed to manage extreme sound pressure levels while providing an ultra-fast attack, realistic transient response, and very low thermal loss. A solid aluminum heat sink attached to the amplifier provides excellent heat dissipation without the need for an internal cooling fan.

Rugged Enclosure: The SUB 8003-AS Mk3 bass reflex enclosure is constructed of high-quality, multi-ply hardwood and coated in a rugged polyurea finish. A rugged powder-coated metal grille protects the driver and features a transparent foam backing to protect against dust and humidity. Two carry-handles with rubber grips built into the sides of the cabinet are provided for transport. The SUB 8003-AS Mk3 weighs 95.24 lbs.

Rear Control Panel: All of the SUB 8003-AS Mk3 connections and settings are made on the rear panel.

Dual XLR Inputs: Two balanced XLR inputs provide L and R inputs, both accepting line-level signals.
Link/Xover Outputs: Each of the two input jacks includes a corresponding balanced XLR Link/Xover Output that can pass the input signals out to additional powered speakers. The pass-thru signals will be unfiltered when the Link/Xover Out Switch is Off, and filtered with the switch On; DSP high/low-pass filtering can be applied to each input and output in the System Setup Display.
Link/Xover Out: A push-button control lets you select Link (unfiltered signal) or Xover (filtered) for the corresponding XLR outputs.
System Setup Display & Rotary Encoder: A rear-panel LCD screen and corresponding Rotary/Push Encoder let you access and adjust the following DSP settings:
- Gain Reduction: Lets you reduce the input signal level; reduction is in 0.1 dB steps for the first 10 dB, then in 1 dB steps; maximum reduction is 99 dB.
- Delay: Applies a delay the output signal of the subwoofer - expressed in meters; delay can be adjusted in 0.1 m steps for the first 10 m, then in 1 m steps; maximum delay is 20 m.
- Preset (Xover): Preset high/low crossover settings can be applied to the input and pass-thru signals, available in 3 categories of Presets; the first value indicates the low-pass crossover point and the second indicates the high-pass crossover point:
  - Extended Low (extended and linear frequency response):
    - L1: 30 Hz/ 60 Hz
    - L2: 30 Hz/ 80 Hz
    - L3: 30 Hz/ 100 Hz
    - L4: 30 Hz/ 125 Hz
  - Hard Presets (response not as extended; boost applied at 50-60 Hz):
