Fantastic desktop speakers
Manny from Temecula, CA on 7/6/2025
Great pair of speakers to use at your desk. Small footprint, amazing sound, incredibly easy plug-and-play setup. Midbass is done surprisingly well for such a small speaker, enjoying my EDM music a lot on these alone, with a subwoofer added it will be elite. Extremely happy with these.

Pretty good sound for the price. These work just fine in their sides, the angled stands also work for sideways support.

Perfect desktop speakers
A from Bellevue, WA on 4/25/2025
These speakers have amazing audio quality in a tiny package, perfect for my work from home desk setup. Since getting these with the Kanto sub, I have completely stopped using headphones. The sound feels balanced and is not fatiguing at all. They also have a sleek aesthetic, especially paired with the stands. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because Kanto could do better with QC, the first pair I bought had a defect.
Pros: Great sound, attractive
Cons: QC can be lacking

Big Sound, Small Package
In from Menlo Park, CA on 1/30/2025
Coming from my 10 year old Bose Companion 2 Series III desktop speakers, these Kanto ORAs were a revelation in terms of clarity. I am also surprised by how much distortion-free volume can come out of these small speakers. Bass was more than adequate but I feel tempted to pair this with the Kanto Sub8. My only caveat is that you really do need to place the speakers at least 6 - 8 inches away from the wall to avoid having the bass end up sounding boomy at higher volumes.

Small but Mighty
Woodrow from Saint Inigoes, MD on 1/26/2025
These were purchased for use with a PC, both for gaming and listening to music. The form factor is great for a desk, these will likely fit most desk setups. Multiple connection options to the PC is also great, I'm using the USB-C and the sound has never been better. Sound-wise - As others have said, this puts out a surprising amount of clear sound, both in bass and the overall volume. I especially like that it avoids the distorted extra-thumpy bass that's common with a lot of 'gamer' gear. The bass is there, but it blends in, even at lower volumes. If you're a gamer and looking to improve your audio setup, this will do the trick. Having said that, these are probably overkill for most folks, especially for $350. You'll likely be just as happy with cheaper speakers. However, if you jam out to music while you game, these are definitely worth considering. Is it worth buying these to improve your Balatro audio? Probably not. However, if you're the kind of person who likes a little Nekrogoblikon while you Balatro, you should buy these. Right now.
Pros: Nice connectivity options Small size but great sound Surprisingly good stereo separation Front volume knob
Cons: Stands cost another $30+ No grilles, which for a desktop, would have been nice No Bass/ Treble control, which would have been nice

Excellent desktop performers.
Charalampos from Potomac, MD on 1/4/2025
Great sound for the desktop, including the bass. Smaller than my previous desktop speakers, with better sound and a solidly built as well. Connecting via Bluetooth is straightforward, and also driving from CD player with RCA. Having WiFi would be great, but would come at a cost for size and price.

Kanto ORA

If you're looking for a petite desktop speaker that is DSP based (no old fashion crossovers) that uses USB-C that also happens to be bi-amped, look no further. For Mac users these speakers can have the volume adjusted by using your keypad. The USB-C input usually allows 48Khz/16 bit format on most Macs. If you want to better that then make use of an external DAC where you can easily use up to a 768 kHz/32 bit format with the Kanto ORA RCA Stereo analog connectors. That really improves the dynamic of the ORA, particularly if you are using the Kanto Sub8 because the ORA automatically applies a 100Hz high pass so not to make the 3" woofer try to process the very low frequencies. Note if ORA doesn't have a subwoofer cable connected I can readily hear tones down to 50 Hz, even though it is rated down to 70 Hz. The bluetooth is just using SBC codec but works well enough for your phone, tablet or PC. I use mine mostly for the Mac, but playing games on the PC I just turn of bluetooth and it works great specially with the usual gamer audio effects. How is the sound quality of the ORA its very neutral. One of the more challenging audio playback is with Drum solos such as from Tubes Live concert @ Hammersmith Odeon. It's an example of how well the speakers reproduce various percussion, hand drums with cymbals with lots of lower frequency activity. Guns & Roses Welcome to the Jungle also sounds great on the ORA +Sub8. These are a fun desktop speaker setup.

SOOO GOOOD
Ryan from Arlington, TX on 6/4/2024
These little speakers have a tremendous sound and significant amount of bass from just 2 little speakers. You really don't need a subwoofer unless you really just want one. The music just comes through so crisp and clean. Definitely should look into getting a hifi streaming service to letting these little guys shine.
Pros: Bass Overall sound Quality

Yup, these really are impressive.
Jeff from Richmond on 4/13/2024
I had first tried the Kanto YU and was underwhelmed. Very good, but a bit too thumpy for my taste. Because Crutchfield has the best customer service on the planet and makes returns hassle free (and very cheap), I ordered the ORA. I think they are much better -- more articulate and more tonally balanced. Some might prefer the YU because they do seem to have a bit more oomph (bigger driver), but I think the ORA will satisfy most finicky audiophiles who want a compact / desktop speaker. I intend to use these for short business trips and vacations, so the fact that they are considerably smaller AND better sounding than the YU is totally awesome. Highly recommend giving these an audition. [And 5 STARS for Crutchfield!]

Well, these are very impressive little speakers! Can't believe how big a soundstage they throw as well as incredible bass! It defies the laws of physics! :) for a small self powered speaker you absolutely cannot go wrong with these. Amazing!
Pros: Great sound from such a small footprint. Very easy to setup and play as well.
Cons: None so far.

Astounding Clarity & Detail !
Stephen from Hollywood, FL on 3/28/2024
I received my Kanto ORA's a week ago. I was truly shocked at how small and light they are. I was even more shocked to hear the absolutely amazingly clear and detailed monitor worthy sound. These could very well be my last desk-top computer speakers. These tiny powerhouse speakers are AMAZING. When compared to my old Audioengine A2's, these are superlative in every way. Kanto makes a superior product. Wow!
Pros: Crisp, clear detailed sound with great Bass.
Cons: None

Kanto ORA
John from MACUNGIE, PA on 1/17/2024
These are great sounding speakers. But, if you are using them with an older Mac and a Hi-Res streaming service you will need an external headphone DAC and a 3.5mm to RCA cable. The USB-C Thunderbolt and 3.5mm output on the older Mac is limited to 16/48 bitrate. On newer Macs 2023 the 3.5mm output is 24/96, which the ORA supports, but the USB-C is still 24/48. I assumed that using the USB-C would use the ORA's internal DAC, but the ORA USB-C input is 16/48. This is the reason for the 4 star.

Fantastic Small Speakers
Richard from Palmyra, VA on 12/2/2023
An excellent sounding and versatile computer speaker system. Integrated well with my Mac Mini and adding the Kanto Sub8 gives me a full bodied stereo for working from home, not to mention the clarity of audio for meetings. I would highly recommend this not only for computers but for a small system anywhere. Will be adding a Wiim Mini to make it complete.
Pros: Excellent sound Subwoofer output Connectivity options Versatility
Cons: Only black for now. Hopefully they will add colors and wood options like their other speakers.

Excellent PC Desktop Speakers. Sound to size ratio is astounding.
Crutchfield customer from Olive Branch, MS on 11/10/2023
Amazing sound in a very compact set of speakers. Sound is clear and neutral, and the sound stage is excellent for near-field listening speakers. I've paired them with a subwoofer, which I suggest. The Kanto sub is probably strong enough for the speakers. I got a much more powerful sub and keep the sub volume around 10%. The total sound when connected to a sub is incredibly musical. These speakers are somewhat unforgiving. If you listen to a bad mix, it's going to sound bad. I've been enjoying reassessing my music tastes as I experience my favorites in a way I've never experienced them before. I highly recommend these as go-to PC desktop speakers. I do recommend getting RCA to 3.5 mm chord for video audio. Using the USB there is sometimes a noticeable latency lag. I've read the sound is better than the much larger Yu4s and having listened extensively to the ORAs, I believe it. The experience has been so excellent I'm already planning a better system for the living room/listening room.
Pros: Great sound. Compact. Perfect desktop speaker/reference system. Good for creators and anyone who loves music.
Cons: Can be overpowered by a good subwoofer. Top volume is 90db which may not be enough for everyone.
