WOW!
Rick from BRIGHTON, MI on 12/15/2024
Awesome speakers! Very smooth highs, mids, and bass can be turned up/down for as little/much as you want. I'm hearing detail that I've never heard before. I heard tambourine for first time in "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (a song I've heard thousands of times - White Album is my all time favorite). These tweeters sound better than the Klipsch "horns" that I've grown used to. To be fair I'm comparing these to the 1st version of Klipsch RF-7 reference speakers which I've always enjoyed/loved and had for many years (2003). Also, these don't take up much space. They are so much smaller than the Klipsch that I thought they would sound small but they don't. They fill my large living room with the awesome sound - no matter where I am sitting. 2 CH is my passion, but I use them for 5 CH surround for movies (Blu-ray and streaming) as well. Overall, they are MUCH better than Klipsch for all the reasons mentioned and worth the money. With the Klipsch I get fatigued after an hour or so of listening to 2 CH music - not so with the GoldenEars. I have listened to these for many hours in a row. I will keep these upstairs and put the Klipsch in the basement. I have a newer-ish Marantz pre-processor (AV 7706) and an older Rotel 5 CH amp (RMB-1075). At almost $7K these speakers are the most expensive piece in my system - but everything sounds great together! I don't feel that I need to upgrade anything else in my system after hearing these. I'm glad I took the leap into GoldenEar land!
Pros: Awesome smooth highs, mids, and adjustable pounding bass
Cons: A bit pricy

Golden Ear T66 Speakers
Terry from Campbell, CA on 12/2/2024
These T66s replaced my first generation highly regarded B & W 802Ds (diamond tweeter). I spent 2 1/2 hours at a local stereo store listening to them after reading & watching numerous positive reviews & reading several other reputable audio publications, all which rated them very highly up & down the audio range. After about an hour, the bass became more extended. Owner's manual advises 40-60 hours of break in. Compared to my 802Ds, the T66s midrange is clearer & the bass is faster (sealed enclosure vs. ported on the 802Ds) and extends deeper. The T66s are a definite upgrade from the B & Ws. Highs are very clear without being edgy. Midrange is very smooth & clear & nuances are easily audible. Mid & lower bass is both tuneful, tight, impactful, faster & goes down deeper than my old 802Ds. Well recorded vinyl & CDs really allow you to hear the detail, definition, & timbre of different bass notes. In the live versions of "Hotel California" (Eagles) & "Pretty Woman" (Roy Orbison) you literally feel the impact of the drums. Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas" has a good deal of low mid-bass energy that you will fill your room. Highly recommended. System: Pass Labs XA30.8 Amp, XP12 Pre-Amp, XP17 Phono Pre-amp, Hegal Viking CD player, Technics SL-1210G turntable , Zu Audio Denon DL103 Mk II, Shunyata Research balanced interconnects, XLO Reference 2 & Audioquest Monsoon power cables, Kimber Kable 8.
Pros: Very detailed sound throughout the audible range. Very efficient to drive (91dB) Bi-wireable Small and slender footprint. Passive radiators improve depth of bass. Powered sub well integrated with midrange and tweeter. Fast, deep, well defined, and tight bass. Powered sub allows you to use a moderately powered amplifier. Audioquest internal speaker wiring.
Cons: Style may not appeal to everyone. 4O rating. Need to make sure your amp/receiver can handle it.

Building up
Thomas from Colchester, VT on 11/13/2024
Golden ear T66 sound amazing from my Polk R200s sounds. Crisp clean and sharp much more intense from bookshelf speakers but flat clean in detail is almost flawless. Love these towers and can't wait till I get them broken in
Pros: looks and sounds great.
Cons: Only had them for2 days. Didn't have enough burn in time.

Don't believe the marketing hype
Michael from Larchmont, NY on 5/27/2024
Let me preface my review with the caveat that I live in a 1 BR apartment in Manhattan. My living room is 14x10 with decent acoustics. I'm currently equipped with a Dual CS618Q turntable/Ortofon 2M blue cart; KEF R3 Meta speakers coupled with a KEF KC 92 sub (replacements for the T66's that I returned - read on.), Pro-ject Tube Box DS2 pre-amp , NAD 3050 amp, all connected with Audioquest cables. The weakest part of my system (and the oldest) were my Definitive Technology Pro Monitor 1000 speakers coupled with a Def Fin pro sub 800. My system sounded respectable with the Def Fin's. But it was time to step up to audiophile-quality speakers. Hence, enter the Goldenear T66. The gear arrived in two HUGE boxes delivered by UPS freight. After setting everything up came the moment of truth: I fired up the system. To my incredible disappointment, these things sounded horrible. The sound was muddy with the mid and highs just not present. The integrated power sub was also very disappointing. The bass didn't fill the room. The soundstage was very narrow with less-than mind blowing imaging. I really wanted to like these speakers given all of the hype. I mean Steve Gutenberg named the T66's "one of the best audiophile speakers of 2023". Thank you crutchfield for making the return so painless.
Pros: -Sleek design -Substantial Weighted base -Top quality terminals
Cons: -Not suitable for smaller living rooms (despite Goldenear assuring me otherwise ) -weak bass, muddy mid and highs, very narrow sound stage, flat imaging -Price for what you get

Outstanding Clarity, Accuracy & Precision
Tom from The Colony, TX on 5/2/2024
I've been an avid amateur audiophile for years, always seeking the ideal balance of clarity, depth, and realism in my audio setup. This led me to the GoldenEar T66 speakers, and after almost 1,000 hours of listening I can confidently say that they have exceeded my expectations. Listening to the T66 speakers immediately reveals their clarity, accuracy and precision. The High-Velocity Folded Ribbon tweeter delivers sparkling and airy highs, and is never tiresome. The nuance of the music comes through with stunning detail. This is a fast speaker that I couldn't overwhelm or overpower regardless of what I threw at it. I'm also impressed by the T66's bass performance. These speakers effortlessly reproduce deep, powerful bass that fills my room (20x26). No matter what type of music I played or what volume I listened at, the T66 handled every frequency with confidence and authority. I must again restate the accuracy, clarity and precision of the T66s. I could even hear wind instrument players inhaling before they began playing. The soundstage created by these speakers is impressive. It's expansive (height and width) and remarkably lifelike, although it is a little shallow, not reaching much past my listening chair. Build quality appears to be top-notch and the packaging substantial. The speakers have a sleek, modern design. Crutchfield service was excellent, as always. If they're in your budget, you really should try them out. I'm s
Pros: Uncanny clarity, accuracy and precision. I'm hearing nuances and detail I've never heard before. Fast speaker that refuses to be overwhelmed. Sleek design with very strong bass.
Cons: Design is definitely on the modern side; not for everyone. Concerns if the built-in subwoofer ever needs troubleshooting/replacement.
