Money well spent
Danny from Goodyear, AZ on 5/1/2024
I have cleaned about 100 records with it so far and I really like it. I was using a Spin Clean previously, but I struggled to get them dried properly. One slow pass over the vac seems to remove all of the fluid, and the next 2 passes get it fully dry. I am having a static problem, but I attribute it to a felt mat that I am working on replacing. I have done some listening and I am happy to report a huge difference. I have played records I know well and they are much quieter. I now understand what a blacker background is; think of tape hiss or white noise fully removed from behind the music. If you have a lot of records to clean, you will need to buy more fluid. I also purchased the 2 oz. concentrate that you mix with distilled water. By the way, it's a vacuum so it's somewhat noisy. Not a big deal, just wear hearing protection. It will heat up, so sit near or under a fan; again, not a big deal. This is well worth the money spent. It is built well and I think anyone would be happy with it.

Great bang for the buck
Adam from Sherman, TX on 4/9/2024
I like this thing!! The suction is powerful, and it is not difficult to spin. I can definitely see the appeal of a motorized unit, as it gets tiring after a number of records. But it can be relaxing in its own way. The routine I've settled on for now is - 1. Use a pad/brush to remove all dust/debris. 2. Use the included brush to spread the solution on the record, wait a few minutes, then scrub back and forth for a few minutes in 3rds. Turn over on the microfiber cloth or pad and do the other side. 3. Clean water rinse in a Spin Clean. 4. Over to the Record Doctor. I give it 2 slow-ish spins in each direction, and don't have any residual droplets if I'm careful. 5. Air dry in a rack while doing the rest of the records, then insert into new sleeves (mo-fi or similar). I don't know if this part is necessary, but just in case there is a tiny bit left, it doesn't hurt to make sure. Maybe one day I'll upgrade to a motorized one, but for now this serves the purpose and so far all of the records I have played afterward sound amazingly clear. New and used.
Pros: powerful suction, easy to use
Cons: can get tiring if you have more than about 10 records to get through.

If you're ok with manual spinning / flipping this machine produces amazing results. I find that doing a double cleaning produces records that have almost zero audible pops or clicks, which is quite astonishing to hear. To my ears this machine produces the same sound as machines that cost 10x the price.

Very effective record cleaning system. I considered the ultra sonic cleaners but did not want to spend $500 at a minimum for something up to standard. I'm very satisfied with the VI and it has made a very noticeable difference for my needy vinyl. My oldest cat hates the noise. It's an E- vac, essentially

Terry from NINE MILE FALLS, WA on 8/12/2023
I really don't have anything else to compare it to other than the old discwasher method of cleaning your records witch I've done since the 70's. I've always been good about cleaning and taking care of my vinyl records since I've had them. My records were stored for years before I got my system setup again in my music room, some of my collection hasn't been played in 30-40 years. It's amazing how much dirt can collect on your vinyl from just being stored. My discwasher would have a ton of dirt on it when I would clean after years of storage. I decided on the Record Doctor after reading reviews and seeing how simple it is to clean your records. Since they're pretty dirty, I'm probably using a little more cleaning fluid than you should but am getting terrific results. I get the record pretty wet, let the solution sit for a minute then vacuum it off. The records come out shiny and clean and play terrific, if you have a good record it's great but if it's scratched there's not much to help that, I use less solution on the new records I'm buying and clean those also before the first play. I don't find it to be to loud as others mention and there is some sharp corners on it but your record doesn't even come close if you're careful. My system consists of some early 70's solid state gear that's been refurbished driving some early 70's Klipsch heritage Hersey speakers. I'm totally pleased to be listening to the sweet warm sound of my vinyl collection again!
Pros: Simple, easy to use.
Cons: None really that I'm concerned with.

SHARP CORNERS
Crutchfield customer from HAMILTON, IN on 6/16/2023
Works pretty good but one problem.Record Doctor needs to come up with a way to cover the front two corners that sits under the vinyl record. Not good when you've just cleaned a used record that you just purchased and when your removing the record and it slips just so slightly catches one of the two sharp corners not good for the vinyl.
Pros: Works well,Easy to operate and Nice looking

Easy cleaner & looks good too
David from Austin, TX on 6/15/2023
Does a nice job cleaning up vinyl. Fingerprints usually take 2 passes, everything else seems sufficiently clean with one pass. Only dislike is the album wobble due to a really small 1" bearing that supports the album. Read some comments on loudness of the vacuum, don't really agree, totally acceptable for me! Fit and finish are great too!
Pros: Does the job in just a few minutes No need to batch clean 20 records at a time to conserve cleaner
Cons: A little wobble

Joe from Saratoga Spgs, NY on 5/26/2023
It worked very well when I left the solution on the record for a couple of minutes, although the directions did not indicate this step. Really made a difference on a couple of records and a couple were too far gone. I think I will try the RD with Tergikleen and a subsequent distilled water rinse. Will have a good time comparing both approaches. BTW, you can do a workaround to have this unit clean and vacuum 45s. Add a 45 adapter and use a business card to cover up the exposed vacuum and you are good to go.

A great machine for the price!
Brian from Centralia, IL on 5/1/2023
This machine does a great job of cleaning, especially at the price level. I considered purchasing a Pro-Ject automated cleaner, but the reviews were better for the Record Doctor, and for less than half the cost, I decided I could turn my records by hand. The machine is easy to use, easily removes most (if not all of the dirt and debris) on the first cleaning. Some particularly used or dirty records require a second cleaning, but the procedure is quick and simple. The vacuum is somewhat loud, but not unmanageable. Reviews indicate a sound meter db level of around 86-88, so a cheap set of ear plugs could be used if you are concerned about the noise level. The cleaning fluid is effective and reasonably priced, and the supplied and optional goat hair brush work well for spreading the fluid and brushing dust off of the felt and underneath the turntable. The cover fits well and protects the entirety of the machine. My preference would have been for the cover to be stiffer so it does not collapse so easily when putting it over the machine, and a well provided for covering the turning knob, but those are personal preferences and don't impact using the cover. The current sale price on the 20th Anniversary edition of the Record Doctor an even easier choice and, so far, I have no regrets!

Great! But...
Bogdan from Dearborn, MI on 4/26/2023
I recently decided to take the plunge back into vinyl after about 30 years away from it, and wanted to do it right. That meant a good turntable, and, record maintenance supplies. I picked up this version of the Record Doctor because I felt the upgrades over the previous were worth the extra $30 of getting this one on sale. My initial impression is excellent. I was excited to get both new and old records cleaned up. But that enthusiasm was short lived. Background first. I'm visually impaired. As a result, I do most things by touch. sure, not the best way when dealing with records that should not be touched directly. I can handle a record with care, but need to have my hand on the underside to help align the center hole with the spindle on this machine. That means I was tilting the record. A friend helped me figure out that, by doing this, the beautiful, SHARP edges of the aluminum top of this unit was scratching my record while I was trying to align the spindle. I thought I had been careful to not touch the record to the sides, and did not feel any resistance anywhere else on the record. Perhaps a testament to how sharp of a corner is on this thing, and how little pressure it takes to scratch a record. (Yes, USER ERROR in my enthusiasm. That's on me.) With that said, the noticeable upgrade to the sound of the record on the NOT scratched tracks was great on my new Dual CS 429. I plan to add some foam bumpers to soften t
Pros: Clean records sound great!
Cons: Sharp corners on the top of the machine can scratch your records while aligning the spindle if you aren't careful.

Affordable, workhorse record cleaner
Jarrett from Cottage Grove, MN on 3/31/2023
Love this thing. It gets the job done like other vacuum cleaners and is much more affordable than similar offerings like Pro-Ject or VPI. It is manual, but I don't really mind that at all. I felt like I needed a vacuum cleaner for my needs, but they were all out of my price range. Then I discovered the RD VI and couldn't be happier. I started out with the Groovewasher cleaning system with moderate success. I didn't like the fact that you spray the cleaning liquid on, but it never gets rinsed off. Ended up with lots of gunk on my needle that I was always cleaning off. Considered getting a Spin Clean, but that also seemed like a pain and overpriced for what you get ($80 for a plastic tub!?). I didn't like the idea of buying distilled water and also spinning records around in dirty bathwater. Then you gotta put them on a rack and wait for them to dry. Not convenient if you only want to clean 1-2 records. This thing is dead simple to use. You just brush the cleaning liquid on, let it sit for a moment, then vacuum all the gunk off the record. You're left with a clean, dry record you can immediately play or put back in the sleeve. Recommend the RD VI over the RD V, mostly because the clamp that holds the record covers the entire label. I also like that it's small, so you can easily tuck it away when you're not using it. Some vacuum cleaners are so large, you need dedicated space for them.
Pros: - Legit vacuum cleaner - Affordable! - Small relative to other vacuum cleaners - Good for cleaning 1-2 records or a batch of 20. Manual says max 100 per day. - It works! This doesn't just remove pops & clicks. My records sound better. On older records from the 60s and 70s, the sound is noticeably more rich and more full than when I was cleaning them by hand.
Cons: - Fairly noisy, but it is a vacuum after all. If you've used a vacuum before, you know how loud this thing is. Not a deal breaker, just means you'll mostly be cleaning records during waking hours.

Awesome Vacuum Machine at a Fraction of the Automatics
Jeff from Benton Harbor MI on 3/28/2023
I can't believe I went this long without a good record cleaning unit. I always just used a Discwasher but that only takes off surface dust and usually leaves some. Vacuum machines suck the dirt from in between the grooves. This baby costs a fraction of most good cleaners probably because it's manually operated. It does take a little practice to get a good routine down but once you do, you'll love it. My method is maybe 7-10 drops of fluid on the first cleaning then maybe only 5-6 thereafter as the brush gets moist. Don't apply pressure on the rotations and let the vacuum do its job. About 10 seconds or so and 3 rotations will do the trick. Also, put a small piece of tape on the dial so you can count your spins. Some other machines can cost thousands and will they do a better job? Maybe. But those are mostly automatic whereas this one is all you all and I feel it does more than an adequate job at a fraction of the price. I would highly recommend it to anyone that's truly into vinyl.
Pros: The price is great for the job it does. Very elegant looking in black.
Cons: Sure it's loud but just use earplugs. One thing nobody has mentioned is that it does run a little warm. I recommend doing no more than 5 consecutive before giving it a little break or just clean one at a time before playing.

Well worth the money, intuitive to use and has done a good job on the ten albums I have cleaned up. No point in even trying any other method. I now consider this a must have
Andrew from PALMETTO, FL on 3/6/2023
This is no joke. If you listen to records and you have a halfway decent system that you care about how the music sounds, you need one of these. I was so skeptical that I was wasting money when I could just use a brush, but seriously you won't be disappointed. By the way, my collection is 100% brand new vinyl, and there is STILL a big difference. My personal reaction to this was a lot like "cheap audio man" on YouTube if you want someone elses opinion. I'm with him, this might legitimately be the single biggest upgrade to vinyl sound quality I've done. $500 preamps, $400 cartridge upgrades, $1000 integrated amps inclusive. If you're like me, you hate these audiophiles saying "oh, you can definitely hear the difference!" and you're saying to yourself "yeah, there's no way" and feeling like you're swimming in snake oil, but this is not one of those products.
Pros: Makes a significant sound difference even in brand new records. Honestly in shock with the results as I was sick with buyers remorse as soon as I ordered it.
Cons: I'm almost completely through my 1st bottle of solution and I'm dreading mixing my own from the concentrate. It says to mix an entire 2 oz bottle with a gallon of distilled water. I absolutely do not need this much at once. I'd appreciate making it easier to know how much I need (well, I can do math, but maybe make a cap full the right amount) to refill the 4oz bottle and go from there.

Have always wanted one of these. So, when I was able to totally redo my stereo system, thanks to Crutchfield, now was the time to purchase one. It works very well, for sure. Also easy to use. Comes with a great brush and a bottle of fluid. I don't have that many LPs anymore, but I DO have a ton of original Telarcs and all the Sheffield direct to vinyl recordings, and this Record Doctor makes them totally noiseless.

Record Doctor wins !
Kevin R. from BELLA VISTA, AR on 2/5/2023
I spent several days researching back and forth between Record Dr. and some form of ultrasonic cleaner. The vacuum system seems to have the support of the tried and true audiophiles without having to worry about having to clean and fill the "bath water" in the ultrasonic cleaners. My goal was to have (whichever method) the cleaner discreetly placed safely and near enough to my components that I would habitually use it. Neither design really lend themselves to being a focal point. I have had the unit for just a couple of weeks, but find it both easy to use and effective. Having cleaned LP's ranging from "fresh from the sleeve" to a couple I never planned on introducing to a new stylus - The first pass cleaning provided surprisingly good results! Not perfect, but certainly allows you the ability to enjoy that LP you never thought you'd be able to listen to again. The unit sits nicely on a shelf close to the component cabinet without having to worry about errant damage from liquid leaks or spills. All-in-All, very happy with my purchase cleaning a single LP at a time is my preference, and this is a quick process. As many have noted, the unit is a little on the loud side, but the results make it very tolerable.
Pros: Price, ease of use, lack of large amounts of cleaning fluid.
Cons: Vacuum is a little loud

A game-changer for vinyl playback
Nathan from Abingdon, VA on 9/30/2022
There's a lot of hyperbole in this hobby, but I can honestly say this is one of the best investments I've ever made for my records. I used it on some newer records that had a lot of surface noise from the plant, and I was stunned how much quieter it made some of them. There are some records I never played because of the surface noise, and this made them enjoyable again! I plan on using this for every new record I purchase, and will use it on every record in my collection now. It's fast too, so you can clean an LP right before playing. Yes it's loud, but no louder than a household vacuum cleaner. Very well made and hopefully will last for years.
Pros: Well built Looks good Fast and easy to use
Cons: Loud because it's a vacuum

The Doctor Can Do It!
Jeff from Hastings, MN on 9/30/2022
I was doubtful, I've paid for "Snake Oil" in the past. THIS is not a pretender. The Dr. just plain works. The vacuum pulls VERY hard, and the vinyl is pretty near dry when removed from the spindle. I still air dry for 20 minutes. The solution has a good surfactant and gets good penetration to the grooves I am resurrecting my collection from the 70's, and while my LPs are pretty good, my bride's music from the same era ('70 - '85) never saw a Zero stat, or a Discwasher. The crud that this unit removes is really astonishing. I also bought a manual spin/cleaner/washer at the same time and after first use I set it aside and use the Dr. only. It is a very good piece of equipment. So far I have done roughly 125 albums. Only a few hundred more to go If you are unsure about spending your hard earned $$ to buy one, let me say this. "If I somehow wrecked this thing today, I would most definitely buy another one immediately
Pros: Finally, a system that works well
Cons: It is noisy, but who cares if it works?

The machine does exactly what it says it's going to do and does it amazingly. VG+ records now look and sound like NM- records and records that had a bunch of static barely have any if at all.
Pros: Delivers on all its promises
Cons: Basically none. It's a bit noisy but nothing that's unbearable. It doesn't bother me at all. It would be nice if it was an automatic system like the pro-ject but then it wouldn't cost this price right?

A great investment
Matt J from RENO, NV on 4/19/2022
I'm very happy so far. Right out of the box I tested it on a used record that was very noisy and no fun to listen to at all. After one pass on each side the record was quiet with great depth and separation of instruments. There were still some very minor pops but overall the record was quiet and is now in the top tier of my collection instead of being relegated to "back stock". I am actually looking forward to cleaning my entire collection instead of dreading the production of manual cleaning with Tergikleen, distilled water, paint pad, microfiber towels, etc. The unit makes no more noise than a household vacuum. (I also bought the cover which fits nicely.)
Pros: Easy and convenient. Quick process - 2 to 3 minutes - means you can clean records right before playing. Excellent packaging - triple boxed.
Cons: Small size of included cleaning fluid means a reorder will be necessary fairly soon.

Recommend to improve you listening experience
Michael from Little Rock, AR on 4/7/2022
I had never used a cleaner before but saw and read good things about this particular one. It was priced well for my budget so I ordered it to see how it would work. I think it's working well cleaning up my vinyl. I had some albums that I knew were dirty and it cleaned them right up. I noticed a difference right away because it cleared up the usual crackles and pops I heard previously so listening was much better. I also buy a lot of used albums so having this cleaner seemed even more important as I build my collection. Overall I'd say this works great and is super easy to use.
Pros: Easy to use, includes a cover to protect it while storing.

It's Not Magic
Erik from Austin, TX on 4/5/2022
I've cleaned about a dozen records so far. Groove noise was greatly reduced on all but one, which I'll assume had physical damage in the grooves. Snaps and pops were reduced as well. This surprised me by adding more depth and air to the soundstage. I've done manual spin cleaning on my vinyl for years and this machine elevated my listening experience above that
Pros: - Fast 3-5 minute cleaning cycle per record - Noticeable decrease in groove noise and static popping - Following the directions in the box made this easy - Good build quality
Cons: - Won't solve physical scratches or groove damage

It cleans your records
Glen M from CASTLE ROCK, CO on 2/8/2022
I had been using one of those cleaners that has a tank of fluid and two brushes that you spin the record through. After cleaning used vinyl with that there would be a huge ball of dirt on my stylus after playing. Not with this. I'm getting very dirty records and having them come out clean and sounding very good. Don't be shy with the cleaning solution, I use a two nice beads on each side of the record. The 2 ounce concentrate makes a gallon and that will clean a boatload of vinyl. I apply solution, spin several times, vacuum, then dry with a record cleaning cloth. Seems to work really well. I don't understand the complaints about it being loud. Folks, it's a vacuum cleaner. Ever hear a vacuum cleaner? They make noise. This one is not especially loud for what it is. Definitely a buy recommendation.

Revitalise vinyl that dates back to 1947 - incredible !
Stephen from Verona, WI on 1/11/2022
The vinyl record cleaner is one of the better investments I have made. I made an incredible purchase from Craig's list a while ago and purchased the a life's collection of classical vinyl and opera that dates back to 1947 Some of the album sets needed some serious TLC and with the record doctor I have been fortunate enough to restore the records to close to mint condition even after all these years ! This speaks for itself. The investment in the vacuum cleaning system is well worth your dollar spent. It really works restoring vinyl to a close to pristine condition. Congratulations to the engineers who designed and refined this vinyl record cleaner I am delighted with the purchase.
Pros: Cleans the vinyl sufficiently well to restore vinyl pressed back in 1947 to a quality that can be digitized ??
Cons: Worth spending a while cleaning both sides twice if you suspect significant dust n debris on your vinyl collection. It's not a con whatsoever, more like a plus. You can restore almost everything you own in your vinyl collection.

Damaged a $100 Vinyl
Saddened User from Brownsville, TX on 10/28/2021
Alert, if you own a Record Doctor IV you need to make a modification to your machine immediately so what happened to me does not happen to you. First of all the machine has cleaned the 20 or so records I've thrown at it admirably. Sometimes you gotta clean the side twice to get the desired results. I cleaned a 4 record album that is valued at $100. When i did side C i noticed while the inside was quiet, the outside was still noisy. So as i put more pressure on the record edge it basically came down on one of the pointy edges of the record cleaning machine. I winced in pain and immediately inspected the damage. Played the record and to my horror of course it played as bad as the scratch looks. How could a machine thats supposed to clean your records have such a huge scratch hazard built right in? The manual should mention it its absolutely critical that the record remain balance or risk a scartch like I did. Up to this point i was thinking this machine was more or less a dream machine. That shattered right away. So please Record Doctor IV users, made the necessary modifications to your machine now before it costs you a good chuck of change. I used a soft electical tape and put about 5 layers. At this point the only thing that'll make me happy would be if Record Doctor would replace the vinyl album. Jesus Christ.
Pros: Easy Results
Cons: Could 'Eat' a possibly Expensive Record.

Amazing Upgrade

i have recently upgraded on of my two systems from a Vintage system to a new Rega Turntable, New Rega Exact 2 Cartridge, New Audio Cambridge Amp, New Speakers and new Denon CD player. I have a collection of 2,000 vinyl albums spanning 50 years+. I hesitated in purchasing the Record Doctor as I thought i was a gimmick. Was I wrong. This could be the most significant up grade to me system. It has rejuvenated and breathed new life in my extensive vinyl collections, especially the older ones. I would recommend this device without hesitations. It is elegant in it's simplicity.

Amazing
Matthew T from ELLICOTT CITY, MD on 9/27/2021
Wow. I bought this to clean up my eBay finds, it seemed to help. Then at a record sale saw a beautiful copy of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. I have one that I got when it was newly released (please don't do the math) - but I started back then with an ultra cheap RCA record player and all my old records are unplayable, I'd tried. But I hadn't washed them.. So I washed it twice with my Record Doctor, and it played as an Ex+ or better. Next I pulled out my very oldest LP, it sounds horrible, nothing could save it. Washed it twice. Plays PERFECTLY. I cannot praise the Record Doctor too highly. Damn thing really works!
Pros: Less expensive than many of the alternatives Really works Easy to use
Cons: Loud, but I can live with that

Christopher from Phoenix on 9/19/2021
I have an old record collection that hasn't been played in over 20 years. As expected they all skipped and popped. I assumed that the paper sleeves had broken down and gotten microscopic particles into the record grooves. So I bought the Record Doctor to see if I could make them play again. Wow! What a difference this device made! My tired old LPs sound like new. I like this unit because I can play the record immediately after cleaning, and it does a wonderful job!
Pros: Can clean one record at a time and play them immediately after.
Cons: None at all

Record Doctor VI 20th Anniversary Edition
Crutchfield customer from Kokomo, IN on 7/13/2021
This thing is amazing! I've tried other vinyl cleaners, they did an ok job but nothing like the Record Doctor. The vacuum pulls out all the little bits in the grooves and it gets rid of static too. I used it on one of my favorite albums, Peter Gabriel's 4 that I've had since the 80s. It's got a lot of table time over the years to say the least. After cleaning it on the Doctor it sounded like a new record! The tone and dynamics blew me away. I heard things I've never heard before on the same system I've been using for years. If you're obsessed with vinyl and love the sound and want to get the best possible sound from them, nothing compares in my opinion, you definitely should invest in this. It made a 40yr old LP sound great. BUY IT! You vinyl will love you for it!

Makes your vinyl very shiny
Crutchfield customer from Las Vegas, NV on 6/3/2021
This makes your record shiny but as far as improving sound quality it is a gamble. I have cleaned about 30 records. Some it makes them sound better, some worse. I am now not cleaning the records with minor popping only bad sound(loud popping or constant scratchy sounds); which it does improve the sound quality of slightly. It also leaves the residue from the cleaning fluid on the last quarter inch of vinyl near the label & the edge of the record because the vacuum hole is not wide enough for a 12 inch record(this is a design flaw on edition VI, so I'm not sure why they haven't fixed this yet) I follow the online instructions because the fold-out manual that came with mine was ruined from the liquid cleaner leaking out of the bottle that's just laying in the box with the machine. So you may get an empty bottle of cleaning fluid like I did and a manual that when you unfold it, becomes unreadable. If you are going to order this product you might as well order an extra bottle of the cleaner at the same time or you might have to wait another week to use it.
Pros: Shiny Vinyl
Cons: Makes some records sound worse Very loud vacuum Vacuum Hole not big enough Cleaner goes quicker than stated Bad packaging

Didn't see a speck of anything on the record after using my new Record Doctor VI. Took about the same time as a spin clean. Easy, efficient, and does a better job. Really cleans the grooves out! You will want to upgrade your inner sleeves to non-static, as it doesn't seem right replacing such a clean piece of vinyl into the paper original.
Pros: - Easy - Efficient - Deep cleans record
Cons: - A little more expensive than a spin clean - Want to upgrade your inner sleeves to match the cleanest of your records

Works great
Crutchfield customer from Hustonville, KY on 12/10/2020
Seems to work great cleaning records. I've cleaned 100+ so far. My only complaint is the noise level. If you have a heavily soiled record (mold, dust, etc), you may need to clean it twice. I enjoy the time savings vs the spin clean due to no drying time needed.
Pros: Time saving
Cons: Noise level

Works well. Wear hearing protection.
Dan from PORT TOWNSEND, WA on 12/7/2020
Works fine--you can feel that the record resists spinning due to the suction. But not only is it loud, the frequencies of the noise are downright painful. I'm going to experiment with building a vented box to quiet it down. It also is a bit of a hassle, but worth it for the quiet records that result.
Pros: Small size. Quiets records.
Cons: Noise. Not up to the dirtiest records (use a Spin Clean for those).

Wet /dry vacuuming.
Crutchfield customer from Maryville, MO on 9/13/2020
I am new to this record cleaning machine so my verdict isn't totally decided. Overall I do think it has helped some of my albums sound better. Some albums, I can't say it did much to help. Apparently they have had too much use in the past to be able to restore their original sound. It is a pretty simple method of cleaning. I will say it is quite loud. It is as loud as a wet dry vacuum cleaner. Basically that is what it is. I have read other reviews that the older models have had issues with mold and water damage. This model does have the aluminum top on it. I do hope that helps keep it from having damage later in its life. I do have concerns where the fluid does go as when you open the plug in the bottom of the cabinet, nothing has come out of it. I hope it is being vaporized and not collecting somewhere in the cabinet. It has such a small drain I am not sure anything actually does drain from it. Time will tell if it starts damaging it due to it not draining. Overall, I do think it helps somewhat. It won't "cure" any album that is worn or has any real damage so don't expect it to work miracles.
Pros: Looks nice. Seems heavy duty.
Cons: Noisy to use. Unsure where the liquid is going as nothing seems to drain out of it when opening the drain plug.

Record Doctor VI 20th Anniversary Edition
Crutchfield customer from Harpers Ferry, WV on 9/11/2020
I've cleaned about 15 records with this so far and it works great. I upgraded from a Spin Clean used in conjunction with a Vinyl Vac. That system worked ok, but it was a major hassle to setup and breakdown. The Record Doctor requires almost no setup, so I'm far more likely to clean records, especially new vinyl, which I almost never cleaned before. My only complaint is that the top corners of this device are very sharp. I discovered this the hard way. I slipped when I was placing a record on the spindle and the record tilted before I could catch it and grazed one of the corners. This put a small, but deep scratch in the vinyl, ruining the record for my standards. There is now a loud pop during playback for about 10 revolutions, so I'll have to replace the record. Luckily it isn't a rare or audiophile grade pressing. I ended up putting several layers of masking tape on the corners to make sure that never happens again if I slip. Given how many records people typically clean when they own machines like this, I think it's likely to happen to someone else at some point, even if they are being careful. I'd recommend that the manufacturer put something protective over the corners on the spindle end of the unit. With the spindle being black on a black background, it's tricky to line up with it at time and the record could tilt towards the corner.
Pros: Easy setup Simple and effective Fairly quiet for a vacuum system
Cons: Sharp corners can damage records

I would buy again
Ryan from San Antonio, TX on 8/15/2020
Pros: My records sound better than they ever have. Seriously, I notice an audible wow difference using my setup: Pro-ject Debut Carbon w/ Acrylic Platter, Pro-Ject Phono Box S2, NAD C316BEE, and KEF LS50. Convenient to leave and use near my turntable. The Spin-Clean I used before it was a messy hassle in comparison. Looks stylish enough to leave out on display. I did get a Digital Deck Cover for mine though to help keep it dust free. Does dry washed records with enough effort and time. Cons: Loud. According to my Apple watch the noise is capable of causing hearing damage. Not the best for those who are about to listen to and appreciate music. I purchased some cheap ear protection designed for wearing at the shooting range to wear while I use it. That has solved the loudness problem and is only slightly inconvenient. Others in my house get to hear the noise of the Record Doctor though which is annoying. Takes work and time to really clean. Most often there is still a line of dust where the sweepers corralled dust to, but the vacuum did not remove. This kind of makes me question how good the vacuum is and if the design really takes advantage of it or if the vacuum is mostly for show. With a little tweaking, repetition, and time I am able to get 99% of the dust removed though. Where does the dust go (filter)? Caveats: I have been mostly using this with Mofi Super Record Wash and the cleaning brush. T
Pros: Improves sound of vinyl, convenient, stylish, dries records
Cons: Loud, takes time and effort

Excellent alternative to vpi, oki nokki and nitty gritty
Crutchfield customer from Wayne, NJ on 6/19/2020
Great machine for cleaning my precious LP's Much less expensive than the vpi's type of machine due to the fact that it does away with the the second motor that turns the record . So that doubles the price. If you don't mind turning the record by hand, it's no big deal. The vacuum is very powerful and the records come out really clean which translates to quiet music. It's very well built, and should last a long time. I just wish that for the price, it would include a larger bottle of cleaner. 4oz? Comon' Pangea, you can do better than that. Otherwise, very pleased. Cleaned about 20 albums so far , and can really see and hear a difference
Pros: Well built, powerful motor
Cons: Only 4 oz cleaning fluid Like to see a larger platter for the LP.
