Vulcan 4-Shelf Audio Rack: The Pangea Vulcan 4-Shelf Audio Rack is beautifully designed and well engineered with contoured MDF shelves and a steel bolt-together design that can hold a system's worth of electronic components and gear. Each shelf can support up to 75 lbs for a total stand weight capacity of 300 lbs.

  • Top Shelf: The top shelf measures 23.75" wide and 18" deep.
  • Middle Shelves: The two middle shelves measures 19.375" wide (between posts), 7.25" tall, and 18" deep.
  • Bottom Shelf: The bottom shelf measures 19.375" wide (between posts), 8.75" tall, and 18" deep.

Rigid Construction: The Pangea Vulcan 4-Shelf Audio Rack utilizes dense 0.625" (thick) MDF shelves which are wrapped in a special vinyl material (black, rosenut, carbon fiber, or espresso finish) that is very easy to clean and resists scratching, scuffing, and most liquids. Its steel support tubes feature scratch-resistant and resonance-resistant black or silver sand powder coat paint. The stand's steel bolt-together design creates a super strong and ultra rigid platform.

Open-Air Design: The Pangea Vulcan 4-Shelf Audio Rack's open-air design is great for electronic components and gear. The design maximizes component ventilation and makes it easy to install or remove gear.

Tapered Cone Feet With Spikes: At the bottom of the Pangea Vulcan 4-Shelf Audio Rack are tapered cone feet and carpet-piercing spikes. This cone/spike combination rigidly holds the stand in place and prevents floor vibrations from influencing the turntable's performance. For customers with hard surface floors, a set of "Mini Sonic Saucers" are included to protect wood or tile finishes. You can also purchase Pangea's Vulcan Roll-On Casters (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) to add mobility to the turntable stand.

Optional Additional Shelving: If you need an extra shelf or two for holding components and your vinyl record collection, you can purchase additional add-on shelf kits (sold separately - see Accessories Tab). The 7.25" and 8.75" tall support tubes for the middle and bottom shelves can also be swapped out for 10" tall support tubes (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).

Note: You can create any combination of regular and LP-Storage shelves (up to 6) that you like. However, it is not recommended to have combinations that are more than 42" tall.

Related to the previous question about using 3 shelves, can leg segments be connected to each other without a shelf between them? I want to put a subwoofer on the floor under the rack, so I would need to "splice" the spiked leg segments with one set of intermediate segments to create legs long enough to go over the sub.

It's all modular so you could swap out post sizes. Not sure about not having a shelf between them if that affects stability or if there if there will be a gap. One huge issue with your plan though. The sub directly below that is going to really rattle electronics on the shelves and make vinyl playback darn near impossible if you are planning to play vinyl.

It has been a while since I assembled this...but if I recall correctly, the set of 4 longer spacers are designed to screw into the bottom shelf from above, with the 4 shorter spiked leg pieces aligning and screwing into the bottom shelf from below...so not sure the spacers and legs would screw together without the shelf -- or even tight enough to avoid any wobbling or other problem for a turntable.

It appears so. I used all four but it I don't see why you can't just stop at the third shelf. It's a sturdy shelf and absorbs vibrations well. Great product for the price. No need to spend $500 on a shelf.

Yes, instead of using the third shelf, install the top shelf as the third and not use rods and spacers that would normally have been used for the third shelf. Use the hardware for installing the top shelf instead.

Greetings Thomas, and thank you for your question. If you are needing more clearance between the shelves, you can leave a shelf out. There are provided spacers between the tubing, and shelves, but you might find the threaded stud's may need another spacer with the shelf removed. They do offer a 3 shelf stand as well.

Protective discs are for use when unit is on a hardwood floor or vinyl floor to help avoid scratches or dents. Spikes can be used for carpet.

It's solid, no vibration , sits well on the hardwood floor- just a tad wobbly-nothing to write home about I'm extremely pleased with it. Yes, that is what mine is on. If you have carpet you add the spikes when assembling the unit. If not, keep them incase they are needed in the future. I really like mine and have had no problems with it.

Mine is on hardwood. The rack comes with small discs to set the points on. Works well but if you need to move the rack it becomes a 2 person job with carefull attention.

You can definitely use this rack on hardwood floors. It comes supplied with four small steel discs that go between the rack's spiked feet and the floor to prevent gouging. Crutchfield also sells optional Pangea protector feet that work with this rack to provide even greater levels of protection, if needed.

Yes, thought he rack lets have metal points, the rack kit includes plastic floor casters you can use to protect your wooden floor. The casters are not as thick and robust as I would have liked but you can simple purchase your own furniture floor casters for a hardware or furniture store. The rack is sturdy and extremely attractive and will make your system appear very modern and I have no regrets regarding this purchase.

I have tile floors. You can get wheels for it and that's what I did.I don't believe the original feet would work on hardwood without scratching.

Yes - the feet have a nut that can be adjusted to level it. Note that the finish is a little slippery so highly recommend getting something to give the record player a bit of grip so doesn't move around

You could since it is all modular and you can swap out posts and whatnot, but the manufacturer does have a maximum height and weight restriction. I'd recommend reaching out to Pangea about the restrictions as their customer service is very responsive.

I bought one of these and one of the crossbar record storage pieces and they all fit together fine. I don't see any reason 2 of this set wouldn't fit together, however you'd have to use the beams for the feet between one of the pairs, and those only measure about 3.5", so hopefully you have a use for such a short shelf. Otherwise, you can get at least 7 shelves from a 2 pack and then set up the other board as a standalone with the leftover feet. I think the manufacturer also provides some recommendations on the maximum height and weight to build to, so definitely check that first.

I think you technically could, though it might not be stable. I think 6 shelves is the max recommendation from the manufacturer. I've personally only got one that goes as high as 5 shelves though, so I cannot speak from personal experience regarding stability.
