Vibration-dampening construction

The shelves are made of 5/8"-thick vibration-dampening MDF coated in scuff-resistant vinyl. The steel support tubes bolt together with the shelves to create a strong, ultra-rigid rack. Steel spikes minimize contact with the floor — and its vibrations. They rest in tapered polymer cones that further dampen vibrations between the spikes and the support tubes.

Product Research

Features

Vulcan 4-Shelf Audio Rack: The Pangea Vulcan 4-Shelf Audio Rack is beautifully designed and well engineered with contoured MDF shelves and a steel bolt-together design that can hold a system's worth of electronic components and gear. Each shelf can support up to 75 lbs for a total stand weight capacity of 300 lbs.

  • Top Shelf: The top shelf measures 23.75" wide and 18" deep.
  • Middle Shelves: The two middle shelves measures 19.375" wide (between posts), 7" tall, and 18" deep.
  • Bottom Shelf: The bottom shelf measures 19.375" wide (between posts), 9" tall, and 18" deep.

Rigid Construction: The Pangea Vulcan 4-Shelf Audio Rack utilizes dense 0.625" (thick) MDF shelves which are wrapped in a special vinyl material (black, rosenut, carbon fiber, or espresso finish) that is very easy to clean and resists scratching, scuffing, and most liquids. Its steel support tubes feature scratch-resistant and resonance-resistant black or silver sand powder coat paint. The stand's steel bolt-together design creates a super strong and ultra rigid platform.

Open-Air Design: The Pangea Vulcan 4-Shelf Audio Rack's open-air design is great for electronic components and gear. The design maximizes component ventilation and makes it easy to install or remove gear.

Tapered Cone Feet With Spikes: At the bottom of the Pangea Vulcan 4-Shelf Audio Rack are tapered cone feet and carpet-piercing spikes. This cone/spike combination rigidly holds the stand in place and prevents floor vibrations from influencing the turntable's performance. For customers with hard surface floors, a set of "Mini Sonic Saucers" are included to protect wood or tile finishes. You can also purchase Pangea's Vulcan Roll-On Casters (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) to add mobility to the turntable stand.

Optional Additional Shelving: If you need an extra shelf or two for holding components and your vinyl record collection, you can purchase additional add-on shelf kits (sold separately - see Accessories Tab). The 7" and 8.75" tall support tubes for the middle and bottom shelves can also be swapped out for 10" tall support tubes (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).

Note: You can create any combination of regular and LP-Storage shelves (up to 6) that you like. However, it is not recommended to have combinations that are more than 42" tall.

Q
Will the top shelf be okay with a turntable?
bobby  Mar 18, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Bobby, and thank you for your question. The top shelf can support 75 pounds, and is 23.75 inches wide, and 18 inches deep. That should be enough space for most turntables.

Q
How do you install casters on a rack with the pointy threaded rods supply?
alfredo  Apr 24, 2022
3 answers
A
Unscrew the pointy ones and proceed to screw the casters. the instructions are included.
maria  Apr 25, 2022
A
I would take the pointy ended rods to a machine/fabricator shop. They may be able to drill out the points and thread the drilled out section so you can screw in a caster with a threaded end post.
ed  Apr 25, 2022
A
Gently rock back the assembled rack and place the casters under the front "points", then gently rock forward and place under the rear "points".

Q
what accessory do you recommend for use on a wood floor?
peter  Dec 16, 2023
1 answer
A
This rack comes with included Mini Sonic Saucers, which are intended for use with wood floors. It would also be possible to use their Glide Feet, which are sold separately and linked below: www.crutchfield.com/p_325PGGFBLK/item.html

Can the fourth shelf be removed so that 12-inch vinyl albums can be stored on the fifth (lowest) shelf?
jim  Jun 25, 2023
1 answer
A
The shelves are not intended to be left out. We cannot guarantee stability outside of the intended design.

Q
Could I take the top shelf off for a tall amp and it still look ok?
carlos  Sep 07, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Carlos, and thank you for your question. It is modular, so you could remove the second shelf and use it as a 4 shelf system, or just buy the 4 shelf unit. Item 325VULRKCF.

Q
How are feet install if casters are use?
alfredo  Apr 26, 2022
3 answers
A
Simply unscrew, or don't initially install, the spikes, then screw on the casters. I've had mine on for a month now and they work great. I've got a lot of weight on the wheels, so I never move it by just grabbing by the top of the rack. I usually push/pull w/two hands and do it using the side poles just above the last or second to last shelf. I bout the Pangea casters b/c I didn't feel like researching for the best caster that would fit. I was thinking of doing that to find the strongest ones. However, I didn't feel like doing the research and just bought theirs. So far so good. I'm using them on their amp stand also, since my 2 channel amp is extremely heavy and don't want to be lifting that to clean or adjust things.
roger  Apr 29, 2022
A
The feet install the same but instead of screwing in the spikes you screw in the casters. I used casters and putting together the shelf was super easy.
erik  Apr 29, 2022
A
It's a choice. They come with feet. I purchased casters as an option. I have the feet if I ever need them.
