This is very attractive, sturdy unit that was very easy to assemble. I liked the "open air" design so heat from using my stereo equipment can dissipate into the air rather than being "trapped" in an enclosed cabinet. I also opted to go with the available accessory of the x-braces as that increased the "rock solidness" of the unit. Glad I made the purchase.

A very stable rack and easy to assemble. Would have preferred it to have a separate set of feet for using on a floor, instead of the metal disks to put under the carpet spikes. Overall a very good rack. I recommend it to anyone looking to save space and needing a sturdy audio rack.

Received Product From 2021

Back in early February 2024, I purchased one of these from Crutchfield. Unfortunately, I assumed that the product was fine and I just got around to opening this since I'm ready to start on my audio system build-out. Much to my disappointment, what I received was a Pangea box from 2021 judging by the copyright on the box, with the box stating that this product only supports 44 lbs per shelf and 176 lbs total per rack (photo of my Pangea box attached), while the Crutchfield website (both back then and now) said 75 lbs per shelf and 300 lbs total. So I can only assume that I was sent old product. I would recommend that anyone who purchased this from Crutchfield check their Pangea box to make sure that they weren't sent old product like I was. Very disappointed that this happened, but I wanted to warn others and future buyers.

Hi Christopher, I'm sorry for the confusion! We reached out directly to Pangea Audio to help look into the discrepancy. Fortunately, they let us know that the Vulcan Audio Rack has not changed in design or materials since their original release and that they do indeed support 75 lbs. per rack and 300 lbs. total. The original weight capacity was very conservative and as they have continued to test their racks over the years, they've updated their information accordingly. Their online (and our) online information is up to date. However, older packaging with the prior information is still in circulation to help prevent waste. I hope this helps clear things up! If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to let us know.

Good Value

It's a great stand overall, well made and easy to assemble. I knocked off a star for the annoying pointy feet. They make it impossible to slide the loaded stand on carpeting even a little bit if necessary. I ended up placing furniture glides under each foot to better distribute the weight.

This is an easy 5 stars. The rack is sturdy and easy to assemble. I went with the carbon fiber finish and like how it looks. A note about the finish: when I was researching the stand, I didn't find many good photos of the carbon fiber. It's the kind of thing that is difficult to photograph due to the way it reflects light, but it looks good in person. I purchased the separate "glide feet" because I tinker with my setup not infrequently and didn't want to damage my carpet with sliding the default spike feet. From what I researched, racks cheaper than this tend to not look as good aesthetically (in my opinion) and racks that look better get pricey fast. Pangea really hit the sweet spot of price and quality. If I need another rack in the future, I would not hesitate to get another.

Nice, but.

Very nice, easy to assemble audio rack, but the points on the bottom meant buying caps to protect my hardwood floors. The coasters they provide with the rack are woefully inadequate. I'd still buy it but Pangea should reconsider this design.

Great value, great product

Really great product. Well packed, easy to assemble, looks good, and is rock solid. One tip - you can modify assembly to choose which set of shelves has a larger space between them. It is simply a matter of putting the longer support posts between shelves where you want them. This allowed me to leave lots of breathing room for a larger amp.

Solid 4 Shelf Rack

Very solid, very aesthetically pleasing audio rack. Fittings are very precise. Spike feet and small metal cups that go under spikes may be only good for carpet. Wood/concrete floors, beware.

The design for modifying this rack for use on wood floors (versus the spikes in carpet) is poor. The tiny, thin disks that need to be placed under the spikes slipped away each time we attempted to slide the rack back against the wall. If the disks were thicker, the indentation could be deeper and more likely to hold the spikes in place. We attached the tiny, thin disks to larger self-sticking, heavy-duty furniture pads and successfully executed modifying the rack for use on our wood floors. On a positive note, the rack was extremely well packed, with all parts clearly labeled and the instructions made assembling the rack very easy. My 42 year old high-end components look beautiful on it and the whole room is enhanced by this addition.

Unit shipped quickly and arrived on time as tracking data stated. Relatively small box, which comtained the high density panels/with wood grain laminatian and the vertical cylinders. Cylinders had good powder coat finish. Assembly was intuitive and with documentation, took about 10 minutes to complete. Finished diminsions correllated with listed specs. Appearance paired well with speakers. All in all, a good stand for me.

This the 2nd set of these that I have purchased. The first one I bought went into a carpeted room and this works out great. The disks that the spike feet are too small! When installing my components on these I have to pull it out to make all the connections and trying to slide it back into position the spike feet come out of the disks, once in place all is well.

so nice i bought it twice

Bought the 3 shelf one in red first for other purposes and followed up by buying this one for home stereo. Great unit and I had a set of casters for it, too, which also went on easily and work great - I'm not a fan of the spiked legs as we have wooden floors. Assembly does not even require a screwdriver and that is a big plus when you have wrist arthritis - could not have been easier to assemble. Very happy with the purchase - and shipment arrived in good shape.

This is, for the most part, a cleverly designed rack. Pangea provides numerous options by which it can be modified and expanded . It is easy to assemble; and--most importantly--it is inexpensive. Where it comes up short, however, is in materials. The shelves are made of thin (app. 1/2") mdf covered with vinyl. The legs (16 of them) are light-weight metal tubes that screw together; and it all sits on adjustable isolation spikes. (You must use the supplied metal disks if you are placing it on hardwood floors.) Unfortunately, these light-weight materials compromise both rigidity and strength. (Better materials would, of course, result in a much higher price tag.) I think the most cost-effective way to increase rigidity and strength would simply be to purchase the (slightly) more expensive X-brace version of the rack.

First of all, this audio rack arrived double packed (boxed). Each individual piece was wrapped then grouped with like pieces, then further protected in corrugated sleves. The one-page directions are simple, detailed, yet straightforward. Once completely constructed, the rack is impressively solid, sturdy, and balanced. What a value!

Holds audio and what not

Shelves are extremely flat and rigid. The unit also comes with metal cylinders which I put to good use as shelf dividers. This space between the shelves is great for holding my individual audio components. Although its an audio rack it seems like it could also support video related items, especially some sort of screen or maybe classic vhs tapes. There were some screws with really pointy tips. Quite the safety hazard! I put these on the bottom, pointing at the floor to keep them out of the way. All in all, the unit is highly functional and very attractive. I'm happy with my purchase and recommend!

An inexpensive solution

Damaged corners, poor customer service

This rack is decent, but the packaging of the shelves is poor and leaves the corners susceptible to damage. All four of my shelves had damaged corners in shipment, although the product seems of reasonable quality. Most disappointing was Crutchfield's response of offering $20 off. Given what this costs, it was insignificant. They offered to return it, but wanted the myriad of packaging in original condition or would've charged me a 10% restocking fee. Considering this was probably another hour of my time plus materials I chose to just keep it an accept it. However, I will never buy audio furniture again from Crutchfield as a result of this poor experience.

Fine but perhaps better with less than 200lbs of gear on casters

Seems like it's barely handling the weight limit as there is some flex in the casters. I've a few of the newer heavy Yamaha units on this rack. The rack is wobbly/ tippy with 265 lbs of gear. I'd try something else next time. Easy to put together and great deal for systems that weigh less. Not right for my needs.

Easy to assemble, sturdy. Only 3 stars because either company did a poor job adhering vinyl or edges wore too much because of inadequate wrapping of shelves for mailing. I'm glad it was on sale and used my points , not worth full price.

Exceeded my expectations and looks sharp!

As a former owner of two really nice hi fi stands, a Zoethicus maple stand and a welded steel stand from Billy Bags Design, my expectations were fairly low concerning this assemble-it-yourself Pangea stand at its affordable price. But upon assembling it and setting up my equipment, I have to say it has exceeded my expectations in every way, seems well made, went together easily, and looks sharp in my space. Used with care it should do its job for many years to come.

damaged product, disappointing!

While overall the product was what I expected, I was disappointed after I had the rack almost assembled to discover two deep scratches and a small piece broken off the shelf. I was able to use a furniture repair kit to cover the scarring somewhat but for the cost of the product, and the reputation of the company, I expected better.

audio vulcan rack

this is a very sweet audio stand. i bought the rack and the record shelf add on togather and treated it as one kit, i assembled everything togather rather than adding it on later. and under the unit sitting on the floor i have my power control center. it fits nice. there is over 5 inches under there. all togather i have 6 levels including the floor and the top shelf i use as a turntable top......NOTE....- this rack i combined with the add on shelf was not the audio turntable rack unit, it was the 4 tier audio vulcan rack. i might add i had no issues with things not lining up, or missing parts.

Just what I needed.

The Pangea Vulcan audio rack was just what I needed. Four shelf system to accommodate a receiver and a CD/DVD player with room to grow in a small secondary audio system that is located in my office/den area. Small footprint, variable shelf options and super easy to assemble. I went with the carbon fiber shelf option and like it very much. Good price and functional.

Just put together my Pangea stereo rack (carbon fiber).Wow! It could not be easier!! It goes together without tools. Assembly is completely by hand and just looks the business! Don't worry about the little disc to protect your hardwood floors, they are included. I also have an amp stand (rosenut in another room). It too is beautiful. Great solution at an affordable price!

Great rack for A Low Price

I bought this rack because it was supposed to be Sturdy. It's Very Sturdy and Very Attractive. I have some Very Expensive and Very Heavy Equipment on The Pangea Rack. I like it so much I recommended it to a friend and he bought one. I have a 68 pound Primaluna Amp on the top shelf. I also have a Marantz AVR on the Bottom. If I needed another one, This is what I'd buy. This thing is Rock Solid and the red color is Dreamy. The Wife really likes it.

Very Solid, Very Easy to Build

Solid, easy to put together. I've bought so many cheap units like this that are made of plastic that failed that I decided to spend the money on this more solid piece. Totally glad I did. No tools needed to put together. Everything fit, holes were drilled properly. The tubing is solid metal, the whole unit is solid. Very impressed with the quality. I'm not an audio pro, just a guy that didn't want to buy another cheap unit that would wobble until it ended up in the trash. This will last a very long time with no wobble!

Low profile but still the perfect size

This is a very solid equipment rack, with great weight ratings per shelf. It's an excellent size for even large home theater receivers, and enough shelves for most equipment, and pointy feet to support a turntable on top. Looks good, works great!

Stylish and Simple to assemble

easy to assemble and sturdy audio rack assembled in about 15 minutes without requiring any tools. The table comes with spiked legs with small slip pads to prevent them from digging into hard floors. the only recommendation I have is that I wish Vulcan would have included replaceable covers for the spikes since the pads are a bit difficult to place under the legs without assistance

Very nice stereo rack. The carbon fiber looks semi real. My only complaint is the needle sharp points that the rack stands on. It makes it near impossible to slide it or move it around a couple inches on carpet. Other than that it feels very sturdy and solid and looks good

A beautiful piece and easy to assemble; however, the sharp points that are the bottom of the feet were a disappointing surprise. The discs the points sit in were woefully inadequate. Excellent rack for the money

This inexpensive rack was surprisingly sturdy and attractive. In addition, it was very well packed and easy to assemble. Even taking my time, it went together without a glitch in just over half an hour. Overall I'm very impressed with the look and feel, especially when you consider the low price. Oh, and Crutchfield had it at my door the very next day after placing my order -- so there's that, too!

It's very stable, and the assembly was easy. It's also as good-looking as it is functional. I ordered the casters for mine so I could more easily clean behind and beneath it occasionally.
