Pangea - A Great Company

I bought this add-on 7" shelf for my four shelf Vulcan X-Brace rack. It was quick and easy to install on top . The rosenut finish matches perfectly and has really added to the versatility. Having this rack along with a pair of Pangea speaker stands has convinced me that this company is one of the best for quality and value.

Using add-on shelf as TV Stand for Center Speaker

Picture was a bit deceiving as I wanted to use this as a shelf for my center speaker and place my tv on top of the shelf. However, as stated earlier it came with open ended screws on both ends (studs) but I went to Lowe's and purchased 8 (M8-1.25x40) black hex bolts to screw thru the top and bottom along with some Scotch Custom Fit Felt Pads that fit to size. You just pop out the center portion of the felt pads and I used two of them and it worked perfectly.

I ADAPTED / COMBINED THIS ADD-ON SHELF UNIT WITH THE 24" WIDE PANGEA AMP STAND, THAT I ALSO PURCHASED FROM CRUTCHFIELD, WHICH WAS INSTALLED BELOW THE ADD-ON SHELF WITH X-BRACING RESULTING IN AN EXCELLENT STABLE AND SOLID PLANNED TWO SHELF UNIT FOR MY TWO MOST USED AUDIO COMPONENTS AS I HAD INTENDED! MY TURNTABLE WAS PLACED ON THE TOP SHELF (ADD-ON SHELF) AND MY CD CHANGER PLACED ON THE LOWER SHELF (AMP STAND SHELF) WITH CD STORAGE UTILIZED IN THE SPACE BELOW THE LOWER SHELF - THE ENTIRE PANGEA ASSEMBLY WAS PLACED IN THE CENTER OF A 50" LONG SOFA TABLE I TRANSITIONED IN USAGE FOR AUDIO EQUIPMENT WITH KLIPSCH BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS, ALSO PURCHASED FROM CRUTCHFIELD, PLACED EITHER SIDE OF THE PANGEA AUDIO VULCAN TWO SHELF UNIT I CREATED WHICH PROVIDES THE TURNTABLE AND THE CD CHANGER AT AN EXCELLENT HEIGHT FOR PLAYING COMPACT DISCS AND LP RECORDS! Great product! However, I thought it was a stand-alone shelf. I didn't realize my error until after it arrived. Once I realized where I had gone wrong, I quickly ordered a set of four (4) 10" legs. When they arrived, I assembled all the pieces to create a very sturdy - and nice looking - stand-alone shelf for our vintage receiver and vintage turntable.

I've had several different racks and cabinets over the last 50 years but the Pangea line is special. It is very solid and stable. I have purchased two units over the past 3 years and a couple of extra shelves along the way. I like how I can add shelves depending on the equipment i have. I would highly recommend the Pangea line.

After buying the 3 shelf unit, I decided to buy this add on. This is a very well thought out unit. I usually dislike buying things you need to assemble. This one was a piece of cake. My wife did not have to cover her ears even once as I put the unit together. It is very strong and steady.

Pangea Quality

I'd already shared my enthusiasm and my recommendation for the Pangea component rack, and now I can further attest to their fine design and ease of assembly/integration into the existing rack. It is very easy to deal with and it looks great-just like the rest of the rack. I don't think you can beat this product for its value and its stability without spending a small fortune.

Needed option

Adding the extra shelf is a must have if you are 6 feet and will serve those Who plan on adding additional components or who want additional space for convenience and miscellaneous items.

Hi, I bought this shelf only based on the picture that showed this could be a stand alone shelf. When it arrived, it seemed that it could not be done, because the screws that came had two open ends, and it was for add-on set up. I had conversations with both your technical support and sales department, and neither one of them could offer any help. I ended up going to our local hardware store and bought two set of screws, and made it a stand alone shelf.

Great value

Very easy to add to a previously purchased shelf, and to add a second one on top. The product is sturdy and has more than enough space for SimAudio Moon products to sit and receive ventilation, without allowing space for pets to sit on top of the gear (main reason for purchase). Recommend that you purchase small metal plates for the spikes to sit on, as it gets heavy and they are not to friendly with hardwood floors (regardless of how thick your carpeting is).
