Overview: BlendMount's MTX-1015 MirrorTap kit lets you power your Escort, Beltronics, Valentine One, Radenso, or Uniden radar detector from your auto-dimming mirror, providing a cleaner looking installation and freeing up your dash or console power socket. Construction: The MirrorTap kit includes a Power Cable constructed of a pair of 24 AWG wires protected by a durable outer sheath. One end features an RJ-11 connector, that plugs into your radar detector, while a pair of male/female terminals on the other end are used for attaching the appropriate Taps. This end also houses an inline 2A fuse encased in rubber (non-replaceable). Four pairs of military-grade Taps are provided (.040", .045", .060", and .075") with one pair getting used based on the pin size of the vehicle's auto-mirror Molex connector. When the appropriate Taps are inserted into the 13" Power Cable, the entire cable length is approximately 15".

Installation: Installation of the MirrorTap requires identifying the auto-dimming mirror's power and ground wires, located in the factory Molex connector, using a voltmeter or multimeter (not included). One pair of the provided Taps will be used to "tap" into the identified power and ground pin-connections. Tap size is determined by carefully inserting each size Tap one at a time into the appropriate wire-slot. The correct size Tap will provide a snug fit into the connector. The other end of the Taps are connected to their corresponding ends of the RJ-11 Power Cable. A small piece of electrical tape and shrink-tubing are provided to secure the Taps to the power cable. Two wire-ties are included for securing the cable to the factory wiring, providing a cleaner looking installation as well as helping provide strain-relief for the Taps.
