Product Research

Features

HDMI Matrix Switch: The Ethereal CS-88MQ HDMI Matrix Switch can switch any of its HDMI 2.0b input sources to any of its eight HDMI 2.0b output displays. The eight HDMI inputs can be quickly and easily assigned to any of the eight HDMI outputs using the front-panel selector buttons, the provided IR remote control, or using the built-in Web GUI (Graphical User Interface) from a LAN connected computer. It supports transmission of video resolutions up to 4K@60Hz Ultra HD (4:4:4), and high resolution audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD.

HDMI 2.0b (18Gbps): The Ethereal CS-88MQ is outfitted with eight HDMI inputs and eight HDMI outputs that meet HDMI 2.0b specifications with support for 18Gbps video bandwidth, 4K/60Hz video resolution, HDR (High Dynamic Range), HDCP 2.2, and multichannel high-resolution audio.

  • 4K/60Hz Resolution: The HDMI Matrix Switch supports video formats up to 4K @ 50/60Hz (YUV4:4:4). It also supports 1080i/p, 720p, and 480i/p video.
  • HDR (High Dynamic Range): The CS-88MQ offers support for HDR (High Dynamic Range) including all the popular HDR formats such as HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, & HLG.
  • HDCP 2.2: HDCP 2.2 is short for "High bandwidth Digital Content Protection" and is used for 4K video copyright protection for compatibility with Ultra HD Blu-ray players and 4K Satellite/Cable providers. It's also backward compatible with HDCP 1.4.

Notes:

  • For a 4K/60 video signal use a premium high-speed HDMI cable that is 10' or less.
  • For a 4K/30 video signal use a premium high-speed HDMI cable that is 30' or less.
  • For a 1080p/60 video signal use a premium high-speed HDMI cable that is 42' or less.

EDID Management With Scaling: The HDMI Matrix Switch manages EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) communications from the source to the display, ensuring the best video resolution and audio format is automatically provided. Selectable EDID presets and user EDID options are available using the Web GUI interface, letting you override the EDID information and select a specific video and audio format for each HDMI output. Output scaling options include -

  • Bypass: No scaling is applied.
  • 4K-to-1080p: Downscales signal to 1080p.
  • Auto: Scale will match the connected display requirements.

Audio Pass-Thru & De-Embedding The CS-88MQ's eight HDMI inputs and outputs offer support for PCM (2.0/5.1/7.1ch) Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby TrueHD, DTS, DTS-EX, DTS-96/24, DTS High-Res, and DTS-HD Master Audio. Each of the eight HDMI outputs also includes its own coax SPDIF digital output and stereo minijack analog output for extracting the audio from the HDMI Output signal.

  • ARC (Audio Return Channel): The CS-88MQ's eight HDM outputs support ARC (Audio Return Channel). The ARC function can return display device audio to coaxial port output only. When activated in the Web GUI, ARC audio is passed out the Coax digital port for that Output. When ARC is activated, the 3.5mm analog output is disabled.
  • Coaxial SPDIF Outputs: The eight coax SPDIF digital outputs support PCM 2.0, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS audio.
  • Analog Stereo Minijack Outputs: The eight stereo minijack (3.5mm) outputs support a 2ch stereo analog audio signal.

Control Options: The Ethereal CS-88MQ can be controlled from the front-panel button on the HDMI Matrix Switch or the included IR remote. Front-panel controls include a power on/off button, 8 input buttons, 8 output buttons, and menu navigation buttons. An OLED screen and IR receiver are also found on the front-panel. The IR remote provides wireless operation of the CS-88MQ including power on/off, as well as source selection for each output. Make sure to point the remote at the IR window on the front-panel of the HDMI Matrix Switch.

  • IR Extender: The CS-88MQ features an IR input (3.5mm) and comes with an IR extender to extend the reach of the unit's IR command signals in case the HDMI Matrix Switch is located inside a cabinet or out of direct line of sight of front-panel IR receiver.
  • IP Control with Web GUI: The HDMI Matrix Switch also contains a RJ-45 LAN jack for IP control via an innovative web GUI (graphic user interface) that can be operated from your PC - allowing you to set scaling, EDID settings, and more.
  • RS-232 Port: In addition, the HDMI Matrix Switch features an RS-232 port and comes with an 58" RS-232 cable, allowing control from a 3rd-party custom integration system (sold separately).

Front-Panel OLED Screen: The front-panel OLED screen indicates HDMI Matrix switching status, input/output port selection, EDID management, and more.

Mounting Options: The CS-88MQ HDMI Matrix Switch can simply tabletop mounted on the shelf of a piece of AV furniture or other flat mounting surface. Brackets are included to either secure the HDMI Matrix Switch to your mounting surface or install the HDMI Matrix Switch in 1U rack space of a rack system.

Power Requirements: The Ethereal CS-88MQ comes with an AC power adapter that will need to be plugged into the back of the HDMI Matrix Switch and into an AC power outlet or surge protector/line-conditioner (sold separately).
