Great Turntable

My first time with a manual turntable. So balancing the tonearm was a new experience for me. Fortunately, the Dual CS518 comes with everything to accomplish this. It took me a couple of tries to get it right, but in the end, it's a rather simple and easy process. Really like how the packaging kept everything in order and what was needed to install. Performance and frequency response in my opinion, is outstanding. Took a little practice to get the hang of manually placing the stylus in the right groove, but turned out great. Nice heavy platter maintaining a consistent musical response. Looking forward to a longtime ownership of this turntable. Believe or not, it replaced a Radio Shack, Lab-2100. Been too since upgrading.

Pros: Frequency Response

Cons: None so far

Love it. I made the right choice. It was toss-up this or the CS618. Thank you Stevie for helping with this selection. You steered me straight. Glad I got you on the phone??

Pros: Everything... A great manual turntable. Well built, nice fit and finish. Records sound great. Red stock cartridge is fine.

Cons: Adjusting the VTF is a PITA. I had to find info on uTube... Once I viewed it was simple. The instructions that comes with the CS518 are lacking.

Dual CS 518 - A good TT

The instructions for setting up the tone arm (counter balance and anti-skating) could be better. I have done this before so was at least familiar with the process. Build quality and sound are great and have an easy upgrade path to Ortofon blue if needed. The rest of the setup was easy and unit is of good build quality.

Turntable sounds great. It's a easy to use turntable that brings out parts of the vinyl I never heard before on a Dual 1216. There is some assembly involved.

Well-built, simple, sounds great

I upgraded to the CS 518 from a 1980s-era Pioneer model and I'm glad I did. The CS 518 seems well-built with high-quality components, and is free of gimmicks and gizmos that don't really add to the listening experience. Albums that had noticeable pitch wobble with my previous turntable sound much better now, and the overall sound quality is excellent. I was surprised that the manual recommends connecting a ground wire with the phono circuit enabled -- this makes it a little more complicated to use with powered speakers or other devices not intended for use with a turntable (although in practice, I couldn't hear the difference with the ground wire disconnected).

Pros: Well-built, simple controls, great sound

Cons: Manual recommends connecting ground wire even with phono circuit enabled.

It arrived as promised. Hole punched in the side of the box, though product was unaffected. Set up instructions were clear and pretty easy to follow. So far, so good!

Pros: Easy to operate and it looks good.

Cons: Some fuzzy sounds. May be the LPs. Still early to tell. Better buy some new records to test.

Dual CS 518

My very first good turntable was a Dual 1229 - this was back in 1973. When it came time to get back into vinyl I went back to 'old reliable', the DUAL. This CS 518 is outstanding and has a much more manageable dust cover than the old beasts they put on the '70s models. Fair price for an exceptional turntable. Everyone should have one of these. Maybe two.

Amazing turntable. Looks and sounds great. I did put the 2m blue cartridge on from the get home and have the red as a back up just in case. Thanks to Crutchfield for having it in stock!

Pros: Super quite and sounds amazing. No hum or motor noise.

Cons: None that I can see!
