Features
Overview: The Dronetag Beacon Direct/Broadcast Remote Identification module is an easy way to add DRI (Detection, Recognition, and Identification) to your aerial drone, making it digitally visible to other drone and aircraft pilots. The compact device attaches to your aerial drone and transmits the aircraft's location up to 1.86 miles (3 km) via a Bluetooth signal, warning other nearby pilots during take-off, landing, or when free-fall is detected.
Supported Regions: The Dronetag Beacon supports use in the following world regions:
- USA: Dronetag Beacon is approved by the FAA and is compliant with ASTM F3411 which requires broadcast remote ID for all pilots flying out of FAA-recognized identification areas.
- European Union: The Beacon is compliant with prEN 4709-002 which requires direct remote identification for drones over 250 grams (8.82 oz.) and flying below 120 meters (393.7 feet) in the specific category.
- Other Countries: Since the Dronetag Beacon transmits data via Bluetooth, it is usable anywhere in the world. All countries using ASD-STAN or ASTM standards are supported.
Onboard Sensors: The Dronetag Beacon receives location signals from GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and SBAS for robust and reliable positioning. Altitude pressure measurements and a built-in motion-detection accelerometer help provide the aircraft's precise location.
Power: The Dronetag Beacon features a built-in rechargeable LiPo battery (3.7V/200mAh) that can provide 8-16 hours of use (depending on the Beacon's configuration). A USB-C port lets you recharge the internal battery from an optional USB power supply (sold separately) using the provided 3" USB-C to USB-A cable. Charging time for a fully depleted battery is approximately 2 hours.
Dronetag App: The Dronetag App, available for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, lets you plan your flight, while providing a map of your route; check airspace zones, to see other airborne drones and their flight itineraries while also notifying other pilots of any airspace hazards; and manage your devices - all in one app.
Construction & Attachment: The Dronetag Beacon is housed in a durable and compact enclosure that's IP43 rated for outdoor use. At 1.51" x 0.98" x 0.66" and weighing 0.56 ounces, the Beacon is small enough to be attached to most any size aerial drone. It attaches using a small strip of 3M Dual-Lock fastener with adhesive backing; one half is pre-attached to the bottom of the Beacon and the other half gets attached to your drone. Extra fastener strips are included.
Control & Indicators: A single push-button and three multi-color LED indicators provide the control and status of the Dronetag Beacon. The push-button can be used to power the module on/ff, start and end flight, provide battery-level indication, and to reset the module. The three LEDs can provide Positioning Status, Remote ID status, and Device Status.
