directions don't factor in wire gauge

The directions to strip 1/4" wire may work for a light gauge wire but it is totally incorrect if you're using a heavy gauge wire e.g. "monster cable". The cable will not engage with a 1/4" wire. The minimum should be, at least, 1/2". Luckily I only stripped one lead on one cable. I had to strip the wire casing another 1/4"+. Beware!

Saved Me Time

Wonderful time-saver--especially in cramped spaces behind my AVR! The Speaker Snap Banana Plug connectors were much easier and faster to install and use compared with hand-tightening wires in the cross-drilled holes in the binding posts of the AVR. Review date: 4/27/25.

Simple and secure

Bare wire is a pain. These Speaker Snap connectors were simple to install, and they stay secure once they're in place. Most importantly, they don't degrade sound quality. Once I got going with them, I started changing out old speaker terminals as well. Great connectors that tidy up my speaker connections.

These work great. I've had success using the lever lock type inline splices and was happy to see this item. It takes a couple seconds to attach it to the end of a stripped cable. It's way more secure than the set screw type cable jacks which have the tendency to lose grip on the wire if wire is moved around. And these are non conductive on the exposed areas of the plug. Too bad they cost around two dollars each. But they're worth every penny if the connection panels of your equipment are not easily accessible.

Best Banana Connectors!

I have used several different types of Banana connectors in the past with tiny screw binding post. These are hands down the quickest and easiest to use. The wire literally snaps into place making quick and easy connections. I highly recommend them.

Secure banana connectors for speaker wire

These connectors worked great for my audio speaker wire. I used 12 AWG stranded speaker wire. I pre-twisted the stripped wires, then with the lever lifted on the connector, inserted the wire with a twisting motion and secured with the lever. I gave each a slight pull to verify the connection. I stripped slightly more than 1/4 in. These plugged into my equipment firmly. Both the wires and the plugs seem to hold firmly. Better than connectors that hold the wires by tightening screws. I recommend these for audio stranded wire up to 12 AWG.

Speaker plugs

It don't fit 12 gauge speaker wire that I have. I have 12 gauge copper with tinned coating on it and I could not get it to fit but they are decent. Build quality and they'll definitely fit 14 gauge and maybe some 12 gauge but it definitely didn't fit mine

Worthless for 12 awg wire

They advertise this to work on 12awg speaker wire and it does not work. These things very very over priced and they didn't work on my speaker wire.

Works really well.

Really like these connectors. Will standard banana plugs or even using the screw terminal feature on your AVR work? Sure. But this plug makes it easy to secure the wire quickly and it takes up minimal space as it extends straight out to keep cables neat and clean. Good friction upon insertion so I have no concerns about moving my receiver or speakers around and connectors falling out. Worked well even with my 12 gauge wires. Other similar banana plugs require securing the wires with tiny screws. These are more expensive but well worth the price.

I've never been wild about using banana plugs for amp/speaker connections. But lately, shoving a big wire into a small hole on a thin shaft and then tightening a plastic nut that's too close to the adjoining post.... well, for my 70 year old eyes and arthritic hands, it all got to be a bit much. But these seem to work fine. They grip the wire well, and are nice and snug in the binding posts. I bought a few extra, thinking they looked a bit flimsy and I might break a couple, but I've had no problems. Highly recommended.

I found feeding bare wires into the speaker terminals on my AVR to be somewhat challenging due in part to their close configuration as well as being in a tight rack placement. I knew tiny screws and equally difficult banana connectors wouldn't be any better and settled on these. Easy as snapping the lever closed. What was taking hours took a couple of minutes.

These were, pardon me, a snap to use.

I read the reviews about these breaking, but gentle but firm is the key. The mechanisms snapped together gain perfectly and made terminating my speaker wires with banana plugs so much easier than the fiddly and sometimes insecure banana plugs that require using set-screws and screw-on covers.

Work great. I don't see how they grip so well when you only have to leave 1/4" of exposed wire. Trying to feed a wire into the side of the speaker ports on my receiver was nearly impossible for me.

It's a snap like the name indicates!

Great product and easy to install. I like the quick lock lever. I put a thin layer of solder on the ends of the speaker wires to make sure the connection stays nice and tight.

I like these

I very much like these. They have a tight fit too. I must say that I was concerned that other reviews suggested that the 12ga wire would not fit well, so I ordered a 2 pack to try them out. They worked fine with my 12ga wire. I used outdoor speaker cable (OSD 12/2 CL3 Speaker Cable) from Crutchfield and did not have an issue. Perhaps the cable others are talking about have a very very thick insulation coating.

Don't use with 12 gauge wire.

So far, these are working out well. The only complaint that I have about them is that the information about them says that they will work with 12 gauge wire. They work with 12 only if you strip the insulation for the entire length that will be inserted into the connector. With a little pulling, you have some of the bare wire showing. Even with that, mine are working out okay.

Excellent Product

I found the Speaker Snap Banana Connectors extremely easy to install. The ease of install makes up for the premium price. From what I can tell it won't mar or damage the speaker wire. I'm using AudioQuest G2 Speaker Cable 16-gauge wire. I would definitely recommend the product to anyone.

These are fantastic! Literally seconds to securely clip to wires and for those wondering the sound is just as good if not better than bare wire on binding posts. With these it's easy to swap speakers and other components in your system. Oh and the best part they're easy to remove from the wires. Just lift the lever. Of course Crutchfield packaging and shipping can't be beat. Worth the price.

I ordered these banana plugs to try them out I was a little concerned about the wire staying in place. I tried 14 and 12 gauge speaker cable and pulled on them with some pliers to test grip strength and I was impressed how stayed in place. these are the easiest banana plugs I've ever used will continue to purchase them.

These do not accommodate Helios 12 gauge (well insulated) speaker wire. The opening in the plastic portion of the connector is too small for the unstripped wire to pass into. To use these I stripped off approximately 1" of insulation and to prevent any uninsulated wire being exposed used 1 1/2" heat shrink to seal the insulation and 1/2" of exposed wire.

12 GA INSULATION TOO THICK FOR HOLE

The design is clever enough. I like that the outside is plastic so you know that it is insulated from the wire inside. For 12 GA wire, the wire itself will be held by the inside clip but none of the outside insulation fits in the outer hole as it should. Not reassuring and not a good look. I doubt that my insulation is fatter than most other 12 GA wire insulation. Maybe wires less than 12GA would be fine. So....I used Nakamichi plugs instead.

Why?

These don't really do anything to improve sound like I hoped. Just easier to have if you are going to be plugging and unplugging alot. Why do that , I know not .

So Far So Good.

The most impressive thing about these banana plugs is their ease of use. Extremely easy and have so far worked well. The hinge-lever seems to be decent quality and I think will last with normal use. I don't trade connectors often so I'm expecting them to last a long time.
