About the Crownduit® Crown Moulding and Track Kit
Seamlessly hide cables
Seamlessly hide cables
Crownduit's patented crown moulding system offers folks a way of hiding long runs of cables. It's perfect for media rooms or other areas where you want a clean, custom-installed look.
The crown moulding's track installs using drywall screws — no glue or putty required. After that, the moulding snaps onto the track for a blemish-free end result. Once the system is in place, you can access your cables by removing a portion of the panel.
The kit includes four pieces of crown moulding measuring 7' 10" per piece. Two pieces of moulding, one keystone (sold separately), and two inside corners (sold separately) will cover a 16' long wall. The internal PVC mounting track and wire chase make routing wires a breeze.
Made from eco-friendly material
Crownduit makes their paintable crown moulding from readily available poplar wood. The company chose to go with plantation-based, sustainable poplar because of its ability to grow quickly. It can be harvested without destroying natural forests and even combats climate change. The inside wire chase is made from 100% pure PVC that doesn't rely on non-renewable resources like oil and gasoline for production.

Features
Overview: The Crownduit System gives you a unique way to hide your home audio/video wiring in your home. It consists of four lengths of natural poplar crown moulding (7'-10" each), and four lengths of PVC mounting track. To complete the system, there are available inside corners (IN-45) and outside corners (OT-45) where needed, and keystones (KS-45) to cover the seams between the lengths of moulding, all sold separately. After the mounting track is installed, the Crownduit simply snaps into place. Installation requires no nails, glue, or putty, and there no need for coping or mitering corners or splices.
Materials: Crownduit's faceplate and components are made from poplar wood, sourced and manufactured in the United States. Poplar has a tight, straight grain, which provides a smooth surface. It comes unfinished in its natural color, and you can stain or paint it prior to installation. The moulding installs between your walls and ceiling at a 45° angle. It is made in a classic Greek architectural style that would enhance the interior of most homes or businesses. The internal wire chase and mounting track is made of Color Master CMR4240 ridged PVC compound. The backing of the moulding and the facing of the mounting track snap together for easy installation.
Installation: The mounting track installs in full lengths where the crown moulding will be installed. It is held in place with 1-1/4" course sheetrock screws placed every 16", starting at the center of the wall and working toward the outer edges. You can pre-drill pilot holes with a 1/8" drill bit to make it easier. Linear pieces can be cut at 90 degrees with the chop saw -- no complex mitered angles needed. Approximately 3" should be left between linear pieces to allow for expanding and contracting. These gaps will be covered by the keystones. The inside and outside corner pieces are already mitered and cut, so all you have to do is snap them into place after the linear pieces are installed. An endcap can be made by cutting off one side of an outside corner, if needed.
Tools Needed for Installation:
- Chop box
- Hand saw
- #2 Phillips screwdriver (with or without drill)
- Measuring tape
- Pencil
- Black Marker
- 1-1/4" Course sheetrock screws
Uses: The Crownduit System has many practical uses for routing cables around the room. It also protects and conceals your wires, and is removable for adding or removing wires. You can route HDMI cable, speaker wire, Ethernet cable (including POE), and optical cables. Using Crownduit can also make it easier to add electrical outlets to a room without drilling through vertical studs. Installing LED rope lights or light strips on the Crownduit moulding provides an easy way to add indirect lighting to your room.
