Easy to install, great app functionality
I would give this camera a 9/10 and think it is worth the cost. I really like it, especially since it replaced a cheaper option from a different brand that had issues connecting to WiFi. I appreciated the installation, which includes installing the base, then inserting and locking the camera in place. This was much easier and safer than trying to hold the unit and prevent it from falling while connecting the wires up on a ladder. I really like the functionality that can be controlled in the app (cool vs. warm light, brightness, motion detection modes, ability to turn the light on or off, two-way voice, alarm, reviewing captured video, and more). The unit's black color fits much more naturally on my brown siding than most other cameras that are white. The ability to download captured video through the app and on SD card in the camera, without necessarily having to pay for cloud storage (available at an extra cost) is appreciated. The only downside after a few months of use is that it is not always successful as determining motion type via its algorithm. The camera should be able to differentiate recordings between general motion, person, vehicle, animal, abandoned object, or missing object. I haven't expected the latter two events, but animals and general motion (such as shadows from clouds) are often tagged as person, or animals not tagged at all. You can review untagged recordings in the app, but I was hoping animal detection would be better. Small gripe, overall very happy.
Pros: Ease and safety of installation Black option works well on darker houses Clear picture quality Lots of app functionality Cloud storage available for an extra cost but not necessary for camera use
Cons: Lots of motion recorded just by flying insects Some motion is not categorized properly by the camera algorithm, including animals

Avoid this Floodlight Camera
Marty from Cumming, GA on 6/28/2024
I have other Lorex cameras, so this is not my first dealings with the company. The Wi-Fi range on this camera is horrible, even in 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz mode because I tried both. To set up the camera, I had to have my router 5 feet from the camera, and then once set up, I was able to move it back to about 10 feet, but no further or it would continuously lose connection. Additionally, the camera view angle on this camera is very narrow and not wide enough for a flood light or any security camera for that matter, unless it's 25+ feet in the air. I returned the floodlight light camera, And as always, Crutchfield was helpful in setting up the return.
Pros: Decent picture quality (clearness) for 2k
Cons: Bad wi-fi range, narrow field of view
