Great sound, lackluster Wi-Fi, poor support.
Crutchfield customer from CRAWFORDSVILLE, IN on 7/3/2025
Weak Wi-Fi, poor support from WiiM. I attempted to use this in the garage. It's not that far from the router. I have TVs farther that can wirelessly stream 4K. When I attempted to contact WiiM support, they asked me to use the app, and never once addressed my Wi-Fi issues that I was having. When I tried to use the app, the network kept dropping out and the app lost connection with the device, and I couldn't make a report using the app. Oddly, I have listened to music for hours, and other times, I can't get more than 5 seconds without a drop out. It seems to work inside, but I'm not able to use it how I wanted. I honestly don't know if I got a dud, or if the Wi-Fi really is that weak. I should have returned it, but too much time has passed now. Not a good impression of WiiM. Doubt I'll try another product. Sound quality is very good. The only redeeming thing about this.

Pretty good for first streaming music.
T Michael from Jeffersonton, VA on 4/6/2025
Works more or less as advertised, though using with Apple Music is problematic. I'm never sure if the device is streaming over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth since Bluetooth has to be on for it to work. Unfortunately if you're an Apple system and Apple Music user, very few streamers seem to work natively with Apple Music. It apparently from what I read could also sound better with a separate. All that said though, it's ok for an inexpensive product for someone just getting into streaming.

Easy to research and pick which Bluetooth device was best for me, thank you Crutchfield. The Wii Mini was extremely easy to set up, connect to my iPhone and stereo. I was streaming through my stereo in about 15 minutes after opening the box.
Pros: Ease of set up, connection options. You do not have to download the companion software if all you want to do is stream from your device.
Cons: Non come to mind at this point

Mini replacement for Google Chromecast Music
David from Burlington, VT on 11/7/2024
I bought two Mini's to replace my Google Chromecast Music. My Chromecast Music had started behaving badly constantly loosing connection. I tried various router setting changes and so forth but could not make them stable again. I plugged the first Mini in and went through the app setup quckly and was up and listening in less than 15 minutes. I tried it out for a day and then added the second Mini. Now I can stream confidently and the multi-room playback is great. I use the RCA out on an older Denon amp and a newer low cost Sony amp. I stream from Tidal and the integration is pretty good. I can stream to the Mini's from either the Tidal app or the MiiM app. you need the MiiM app to connect the rooms but then can stream from Tidal to both rooms.
Pros: Easy set up. Good integration with Tidal. Simple replacement for Google Chrome Music

Great for Airplay from a MacBook
Richard from Kenova, WV on 9/11/2024
I purchased the Wiim Mini to wirelessly stream Apple Music via Airplay from a MacBook to my integrated amplifier. I have a very good DAC with optical input available so the more expensive Pro or Pro Plus were not necessary. Setup using the Wiim Home app was very easy and the sound is great. After setting up using the Wiim Home app is not necessary, I stream directly from my MacBook to the Mini. The great reviews the little device gets on Crutchfield and elsewhere are well-deserved and customer service and shipping from Crutchfield are excellent. You might be able to find this item priced little less elsewhere but I like Crutchfield and prefer to support them.
Pros: Easy setup App is easy to use with option for equalization Sound is great

Simple, inexpensive, and works very well.
Tim from Portland, OR on 6/25/2024
I bought this to replace an aging Airport Express, for Airplaying music to my stereo. The WiiM Mini actually works better (and faster) than the Airport Express ever did. Setup was super easy. It included all the cords I needed, and even an AC adapter, which is increasingly rare in the world of USB-powered electronics. The WiiM app is even pretty good, though I don't think I'll have much reason to use it. I'm having real trouble thinking of any drawbacks to this device for my use case. I was also considering the Eve Play. The WiiM Mini doesn't fully integrate with Apple's Homekit, which is maybe a reason to pick the Eve Play over this, but that doesn't actually matter to me. The WiiM Mini is also half the price of the Eve. If you just need a way to play streaming music (Apple Music/Spotify/Tidal) on your existing stereo, this is likely the best device you can get for the money.
Pros: - Works well - Easy setup - Includes all necessary cords/adapters.

If you want to treat yourself and discover how great your tunes can so
Bruce from MURRIETA, CA on 6/1/2024
My guy, Mulligan, took good care of me. I explained I had an old receiver I'd like to play my Itune playlists on-he said 'I've got just the thing'. He was right. Solid performance in all the areas that count for a unit like this: sound, pairing, set up, etc. It's got lots of avenues for hookup-I chose the optical cable method and have a high res playback-better than a regular cd player can provide. A couple bucks more than the bargain basement type unit, but the overall quality is way worth it. Sorry about the delay getting back to you, my brother, I was relistening to my tunes. Am I a long time customer of Crutchfield? You know it-I still have my pair Polk Monitor 10b's Bill sold me back in the 70's when I was overseas in USAF. These guys are the best (duh!) Thank you for having this fantastic mini speaker. It was requested by a couple just married. I was flabbergasted when I received it. It was a mini speaker. I wanted to send it back thinking i errored in the order and the bride and groom were disappointed in my selection. I called the bride's mother, she said, "Oh no the small speaker is what they wanted." The party is in Walnut Creek, CA, and the newlyweds live in Colorado. When I ordered the item, I was worried it would be to big or heavy for them to pack it home and they would have to pay a lot for shipping. So to my amazement it was the perfect item. The newlyweds used the speaker to play music at their reception and it was clear, loud, soft and the perfect size for a suitcase. Who knew. Sandi Stamates 925-324-8003

Great streamer for the money
James from Sumter, SC on 3/18/2024
Great streamer for the money. The WiiM app is very good and the streamer itself does a great job of staying connected for me. I did find that the internal DAC isn't that great so I plugged it into my external DAC and was rewarded with great sound. Especially after tweaking it with the app's equalizer. Highly recommended, but if you want better sound, get the WiiM Pro+ with improved DAC which is still a very affordable piece of gear in comparison to other streamers.
Pros: Reliable connection. A lot of options for streaming. Most cables you need are included. Great accompanying app wit EQ.
Cons: Poor internal DAC but has optical output for bypassing it.

Big things sometimes do come in a small package
Marc from ROCKVILLE, MD on 3/18/2024
The WiiM Mini is a very capable music streaming device. I use the WiiM Mini when streaming Spotify Connect. The WiiM Mini has a very good DAC that is probably all you need. The WiiM Mini works well via the optical connection and analog connection with the following integrated amplifiers and receivers: (Denon PMA-600NE, Marantz PM6007, Yamaha A-S501 and Yamaha R-S202 receiver.) I especially enjoy streaming Spotify via the WiiM Mini connected to an Antique Sound Labs tube headphone amplifier and Sennheiser HD-600 headphones. The WiiM Mini is very small and light. WiiM should have included a Velcro mount so the Mini can be placed where it is out of the way. It would be great if someone made an integrated amplifier with built-in WiiM music streaming capabilities. It turns out that WiiM does. I kept the WiiM Mini but ended up purchasing a WiiM Amp from Crutchfield. For me the WiiM Amp was the better choice. The remainder of this review is of the WiiM Amp. The WiiM Amp has connections for one pair of stereo speakers (rated from 4 to 8 ohm.) The WiiM amp is rated at 60 Watts per channel (WPC) at 8 ohms and 120 WPC at 4 ohms. In my living room, using the WiiM Amp, I am able to drive my 84dB efficient Smaller Advent speakers (4 ohm) louder than is comfortable. The WiiM Home app volume slider is normally set to 40% with 50% being too loud for me.
Pros: The best thing about the WiiM products (WiiM Mini, Pro, Pro Plus and Amp) is the WiiM Home app. The WiiM Home app works with each of these WiiM devices so they can be controlled from your phone and also by the optional WiiM remote control. (The WiiM remote comes with the WiiM Amp.) The ability to switch inputs, configure audio output, equalize the audio, and adjust volume and the left/right balance control are built into the WiiM Home app.
Cons: Neither the WiiM Mini or the WiiM Amp have a power switch. These devices can be configured to enter standby mode after a period of inactivity (currently this can be as long as 20 minutes before entering standby.) The WiiM Amp has one set of RCA inputs so you can connect a CD player, etc. To use a turntable with the WiiM Amp you will need a separate external phono stage preamplifier. The WiiM Amp has no headphone jack. (You can use Bluetooth (BT) earbuds or BT headphones with the WiiM Amp

Great little audio conector! Wifi network or Bluetooth
Kyle from Coloma, MI on 3/15/2024
Easy to set up and easy to use. I like the app layout and the amount of settings you're able to tweak. I'm able to connect to my old stereo in the garage again! I know there are higher fidelity models of these Wiim audio connectors, but this one is able to do CD quality and slightly higher which is plenty good enough for me. I can see how a remote might be handy for some people though. Don't forget to take the little protective caps off the ends of the digital optical cable before use!
Pros: Easy to use Features Settings Size
Cons: Having a built in microphone makes me paranoid about it being safe/secure...

Goodbye google - hello AirPlay
Crutchfield customer from MCFARLAND, WI on 3/14/2024
Ive been using chromecast to cast with assistant and cheapo Bluetooth adapters to stream Pandora for years. I like pandora best for lots of reasons. Chromecast audio just doesn't work reliably anymore and it stopped working with assistant long ago. It regularly goes out of sync and causes headaches trying to shut it up when the phone rings. I'm also falling out of love with google in general. So I stepped away and tried this. Although you can't directly stream pandora from the wiim app itself or add wiim to gugle assistant , it works seamlessly from within the pandora app. I don't need gugle and its headaches anymore. The sound is amazing step up. This was unexpected. It's better than chromecast audio and 5000% better than the retired Bluetooth adapter. I'm so impressed. Super easy setup.
Pros: Plays right from pandora app
Cons: A little trouble to switch from streaming to mobile but no biggie

This hockey puck-sized media streamer is excellent for a mid to low-end receiver-based stereo system. I originally tried it out on my audiophile system and found the embedded HEOS platform and Tidal Premium played better on this system. I wound up connecting this to a second system in my home office and I am very pleased with running Tidal premium ( 44.1 -FLAC ) through this scaled-down system.
Pros: small form factor
Cons: Not as robust on a high-end system... which was to be expected.

Quakity little Puck
Henry from Southborough, MA on 2/21/2024
After watching some YouTube audiophiles rave about this little puck while searching for a streamer, I decided to give it a go. I am very happy with it so far. You have to choose either Bluetooth, Wifi (through the app) or Aux In for sources, so it's limited, but there's beauty in that simplicity for me. I didn't want a do-it-all tool that's big and takes up space. I wanted a puck to stream music over WiFi with an optical SPDIF out to my DAC, especially after hearing the internal DAC isn't up to par. The app is smooth enough, has connections to all the big streaming services, and tells you the quality it's putting out to your other components. If you're looking for a simple streamer for cheap, get it. You won't be disappointed. If you need more, check out the Pro Plus or the Wiim Amp for an all in one solution.

Very simple setup. Amazing sound.
Thomas from Libertyville, IL on 2/5/2024
I bought three of these to replace obsolete Airport Expresses after upgrading my gateway/router. Now I can stream simultaneously to a 10 year old Jolida KT88 amp setup in the living room, a 25 year old Rotel receiver in the family room and a 44 year old Luxman amp in the basement. All of these wonderful legacy stereos now sing with punchy digital sound!!! Setup: amazingly simple, even for me. Two of the stereos have better DACs and setting up those with higher throughput was a snap! The big test was linking stereos from the phone for whole house sound (impossible with Apple AirPort Express without a computer and 3rd party app). DONE! EASY! Sound quality: better than ever. I highly recommend these wonderfully intuitive devices!
Pros: Setup, unparalleled
Cons: The instructions for linking several devices for simultaneous play were lacking. In reality, it's a breeze.

Great value
Steve from Manahawkin, NJ on 12/13/2023
I wanted to rate the WiiM Mini which I received yesterday. Easy to set-up with the IOS App. Easy to connect to my NAD 40 Watt Integrated Amp powering Klipsch Heresy speakers. I did a A/B test utilizing Apple Music using ApplePlay 2 vs. the Audioengine B1. (Lossless not Hi-Res). Though the B1 utilizing Bluetooth sounds fine, there was a definite improvement with Wi-Fi going through the Mini. I realize that the Mini's DAC is not the best but it still improved the sound to my old ears. I also did a A/B test comparing the WiiM and a hard wired iPhone 15 passing the digits into a DragonFly Cobolt. Yes, I heard a slight difference in definition and clarity, but not drastic. As far as ApplePlay 2 / Apple Music, I still do not know if the iPhone is "pushing" 16bit/44.1 kHz or AAC. But even if it is utilizing AAC the sound was improved vs. the Audioengine B1. Thanks to the sales team for their help. I ordered the Mini and received it 24 hours later. Can't beat that. (A customer since 1992)

Just buy it at this price!
Dana from Concord, MA on 11/9/2023
This unit is AMAZING! It works great as a streamer and its app (At least on Android) is top notch. It's analog output is OK and it has an optical digital output which, when plugged into a better DAC sounds top notch (It is capable of 24 bit 192 kHz operation) . It can stream just about every provider you can find - you can even put in URLs. It does have an analog input, but again it's just OK. Finally, WiiM constantly updates its products and this unit recently got a 4 band parametric equalizer (Which can cost far more then this unit by itself).
Pros: Capable of true HiFi linear (CD+ quality) audio with premium music streaming providers
Cons: DAC (Analog output) is just OK. Needs an external DAC to sound its best.
