Very convenient

Before I was streaming music with my phone connected via a Dragonfly red to my amp. Now I use the wiim pro plus. It was very easy to connect and set up. It works flawlessly. I can't hear a difference in sound but that's ok, I just can say that we have been listening to music a lot more since it has arrived. Have yet to test the room correction feature.

Great way to add streaming services to my 25 year old stereo

great sound - adds warmth to my 25 year old stereo. I am really pleased as I stream pandora, youtube and podcasts. Tech support was also excellent. Prior to this I had used standard Bluetooth adapters. No comparison - this is a world of difference

Major listening upgrade.

I was using the ubiquitous $30 Bluetooth signal converter to stream off of my phone. It was decent but I knew it could be better. This WiiM Pro Plus makes for a much more musical listening experience plus it has loads of connection options to use as I upgrade my Wi-Fi. The guys at your store were very helpful, too, as always.

I normally would not post a review 1 week after i received the wiim pro plus . But this is my 2nd wiim pro plus the first one i have had for a year in my family room hooked up to a Yamaha A S 1100. this one is hooked up in my living room to a vintage receiver Lafayette LR 9090 from the year 1977. the wiim app found the new device and had it up and running in about 15 min because it had to do an update on the firmware i use good rca cables on both of them living room audio quest Dimond backs and family room is audio quest Columbias both sound real good for the money cant go wrong . I replace an auris blume pro bluetooth with the wiim no comparison in sound quality wiim pro plus beats it hands down.

Great product!

Fantastic product! Does audiophile quality streaming from any source you have access to. Setup is simple, easy to use app on your phone. Only drawback is, the product comes with a remote control but no instructions on how to use it.

Good and Easy.

Very simple to set up. Using it with an NAD 3050 and some very old Klipsch KG5.5. Ordered it on a Friday afternoon and it was at my house Saturday morning. (But I live only 30 minutes from Crutchfield HQ).

WiiM Pro Plus

Seems to work well. Volume can vary across songs but I've noticed that prior to owning this device. Quick shipping and I called Crutchfield's service department for advice on how to hook it up. They helped on the spot. Would recommend these guys. The Wiim seems like it will do the job.

Outstanding Value For The Money!

Wow!!! It took 7 seconds of listening to the first song to realize the dac in the Wiim Pro Plus is much better than in my iPhone / iPad and two Wiim Mini's. After 1.5 hours of critical listening across many musical genres, I was amazed! Connected to a Linn LK140 / Kolektor / Thiel CS2 / YouTube Music (CD quality) kit, it sounded like I just bought new speakers, if not a whole new rig! The increase in detail, both the highs and bass tightness were remarkable. Of course, the better the file mastering (especially jazz), the better the audio quality. I will also test the free Qobuz hi res trial in the coming days for fun. Note, less than 1% of Qobuz files are truly hi res .Google it. No biggie, I'm very happy with CD quality (16/44) from my YouTube Music paid subscription. Add to it, EZPZ set (especially with two other Wiim's) as well as whole audio and I'm one happy camper. It's worth every penny of the $219 + tax I paid. Many thanks to Crutchfield for the partnership, quick 2 day delivery and lifetime tech support, if ever needed. AMAZING TECH!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Wiim Pro Plus is a Winner

Im not an audio tech expert but the setup literally took less than 15 mins to include the firmware update of the Wiim app , wifi connectivity and remote pairing. Unit feels much more solid than expected and included cords were of nice quality. I quickly streamed music from Qobuz, which is conveniently offered through the Wiim app along with many other streaming services. The DAC in the Wiim Pro Plus, which is connected to the aux of my vintage Marantz receiver, sounds sublime. Note, you definitely will want to utilize the EQ on the Wiim app to really get the most out of your streaming. If you're on the fence in getting the Wiim Pro Plus, I would make the purchase with confidence. You'll be very satisfied!

WiiM Pro Plus

Ordered the WiiM amp and it connected easily worked well happy with product. Ordered the WiiM pro plus to compliment the amp but so far unable to connect Pro Plus to the WiiM Home App so product is not usable. Connects to WiFi and Bluetooth no issue just not to WiiM Home App. Spent 1 hour troubleshooting with tech on phone, issue escalated but no return call in 4 days. Will update review once resolved or replaced. High expectations but disappointed so far.

Money Well Spent!

Works very smoothly, seems to have better sound quality than streaming Bluetooth from Spotify. Easy to set up, only using in one room so far but looking forward to adding a stereo system to a second room and linking with these.

Great device at a great price.

WiFi direct to the DAC sure beats Bluetooth to the DAC from my ipad. I'd been using the Tidal app on an ipad, Bluetoothed to a DAC which was wired to an older style Onkyo receiver which powered two pairs of Klipsch speakers including a pair of 4.5s. It worked but it was temperamental so I bought the WiiM Pro Plus to get the signal directly off the router. Now, instead of using the app, I'm using Tidal Connect and even though I've eliminated only one signal transfer, the improvement in sound quality is like the difference between walking in a fog and walking in the sun; it just sounds much cleaner. Set up was pretty straightforward even though the instructions could be better (no troubleshooting section for example).

You should take a good look and have some of your people install on of these. I have a new Comcast router with Wy-FI that I get excellent reception 400 ft away from it, I had to place the WiiM Pro Plus 60 feet from it before it received the connection. yuck!!!!

Best $200 component EVER

I'm not sure why I remained on the "streaming music fence" for so long... Perhaps I needed to hear it with my own ears. And now that I have, I can say this Wiim Pro Plus not only provides high resolution audio, when paired with Tidal streaming service (or the service of your choice), it has literally opened doors to incredible music and artists like no component purchase ever has. There is a lot of 24-bit /192 khz available, but even the 16 or 24/44.1 sounds as good or better than my favorite CDs and LPS. And you have millions of music options. Literally. Take a look at the specs on the Pro Plus DAC... pretty incredible. But, most importantly, it Sounds incredible, through the analog RCA outs (using the Wiim Pro Plus DAC) or the digital outs (using yours). And it transmits Bluetooth, in the event you have a B&W Zeppelin or the like needing a synced stream. If you're still on the fence, jump. I actually bought one for my audiophile father in law, too. I'm glad I did, because now he too, is gonna have a great Christmas and one heck of a great sounding New Year! Thanks, Crutchfield!

So far a great device, but two improvements would make it even better. 1- it seems like streaming services interact with the wiim software differently leading to confusing need to switch out of the Spotify connect app back to the wiim app to regain control of volume via the volume buttons on an android phone....for a while I thought there was something wrong with the wiim software or hardware because other streaming services (eg Pandora) did not have that problem...some mention in setup would be helpful. Second, the remote gives no visual feedback in pairing mode or use leading me to question whether it was working or my batteries were bad while trying to pair the first time. Both of these things were minor, but still frustrating during setup of a new device

As a streaming device it works fine. But pairing this device with my new Wim Amp + speakers in another room has serious limitations. Specifically, if I wire my CD player to the receiver and then out to the WiiM, the music in the room with CD player will be faster than in the other room with the WiiM Amp. Syncing doesn't solve the problem. The fix is to wire the CD player through the WiiM to the Receiver -- but that results in a noticeably weaker signal to the receiver. Also, I think I'll need to switch wiring to add a turntable to the stereo and have that play in both rooms. Bottom line: I don't think WiiM is the way to move music from a room with an old school stereo system into another room without signal latency in the second room. If the rooms are adjacent, the effect is the audio equivalent of having double vision.

Improved sound for me

Pretty straightforward to install / setup. Sounds slightly more lively than old streamer on wifi, but really shines for optical out from Technics CD player to dac. Huge difference in sounstage, detail separation, seems more musical with an airyness that wasn't there before. Recommended

Friendly app, good for some platforms, but no Apple Music

This is my first streaming device, other than phones and tablets. I got it to get better quality than using bluetooth from my phone to a bluetooth receiver. Unfortunately, it doesn't support Apple Music, but, other than that, it works well.

Wiim Pro Plus...this thing is a game changer!

I've added the Wiim Pro Plus to my vintage audio system to be able to stream music. Hooking it up was easy. It walks you through the steps for setup, and it's ready to go. All I can say is WOW! It's opened up a whole new avenue for me to listen to music. At the price, I was hesitant as to whether the quality of sound would be what I was used to, as my stereo system is somewhat higher end. That being said, I'm amazed. Streaming with this little box rivals the sound of vinyl records on my turntable. Another plus is that when listening in another room, I don't have to go back to the receiver to change settings. It's all controlled with my iphone. I've only had this for a week so I can't speak to longevity, but I am very happy with this purchase. As always, the folks at Crutchfield were very helpful, and shipping was fast!

I like it. A LOT. You need this in your life!

I did not know that Bluetooth is not the best quality connection for listening to music. I did not know what a DAC is. I did not know that all DACs aren't created equal. I did not know that they made boxes that would hook you up with multiple streaming services-I thought smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops were the only way to do that. So I kept my old iPhone8 to do just that. And I didn't know that all streaming services aren't created equal, either. And then purely by accident, I saw a YouTube video that raved about the previous generation of this box. And I decided, I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE! I am now hearing digital music that sounds as "natural" as my analog stuff. I'm building a FLAC library, because NOW I can tell the difference. I'm 60, and was beginning to wonder if maybe my hearing was deteriorating. IT IS NOT! I'm becoming an audiophile again, I'm very happy, and this little box is the reason why.

WiiM Pro Plus

I purchased the WiiM Pro Plus six months ago and I'm very happy with it. This was the first unit I found at this price point that provided Apple Airplay and Google Cast streaming that works with Amazon Music. I haven't used the Bluetooth, but I have a TV connected via the optical input that works well for that purpose. I also appreciate the Ethernet port for connectivity. The remote works well at a distance too, so I assume it is RF. The only shortcomings, in my opinion, are on the front panel. I'm not fond of the surface touch controls, and the input selection is identified by the color of the LED, which is small and difficult for me to interpret or remember which is which. All-in-all, it's a great unit. 5-stars to Crutchfield too for their excellent service and great website with detailed product info!

Purchased this streamer to replace streaming Tidal from my iPhone via bluetooth to my amp. I used the optical connection that came with the Pro Plus and really couldn't tell much difference. I purchased a coax cable and once I started using that I found the Pro Plus provides a richer and deeper sound than bluetooth.

Bluetooth issues detract from a nicely put together device

The device is nice but I had to return it as it seems that WiiM has some sort systemic issue with Bluetooth output. Since there are no passive speaker outputs I upgraded to a WiiM Amp.

Awesome streaming device to upgrade receiver

The WiiM Pro Plus is exactly what I needed to upgrade my 12 year old receiver with easy to use streaming for Spotify. I love my Onkyo TX-8550 receiver and the WiiM works seamlessly with it, pretty much plug and play with a minimum amount of setup. It also makes the sound of my streaming music way better than just plugging my iPhone into the USB port. So glad I got this device and highly recommend it. I did not realize what I was missing in sound quality.

Awesome sound!

Very impressed with the WiiM streamer. I have it connected to my Emotiva receiver via the fiber optic input. Really amazed at the clarity of music it produces. I debated buying one of these for a very long time and am very glad I did pull the trigger and purchase. As always, Crutchfield is my go to place for my componets!

Great sound , poor network connectivity

I bought this device primarily for the Spotify connect feature and upgraded DAC. While the devices sounds great, the Spotify connect is flaky at best. I have had to reboot and reset the device multiple times to get it work only temporarily. Will be sending this back

Not perfect but pretty good sound.

Not perfect but pretty good. Some connection issues but I really haven't had time to work through the manual. When working properly, the sound is pretty darned good so the DAC is definitely a winner at the price point. Setup was pretty easy despite the very scant setup instructions (honestly it's pretty intuitive). Tried my CD player on the optical input and was pleasantly surprised that it outperformed the CD players' on board DAC. I have tried WiFi streaming through Amazon Music and Spotify with excellent results for each service. All in all this is a nice little player that delivers very good sound at a very reasonable price point. I would have rated 5 stars except for the connection issues.

Wonderful piece of equipment. I had been reluctant to get into streaming audio as I am fairly serious about sound quality. However, this allows access to virtually every album in the world with sound quality equal to a cd and I can't afford to buy that many cds!

as a 40 yr plus customer of crutchfield I always rely on CF for my audio needs due to quality of service and support as well as products. The Wiim device is not easy to understand setup and I had to get a lot of support from them. Jimmy from Wiim pro was great but getting the device to stream from alexa was disfficult and had to be checked by Jimmy. Crutchfiled support was great as always but when the product has sparse manuals to refer to then it is difficult. I am also uncertain yet whether the device improves my audio. I was going to get a DAC but Jenny (?) advised that my cambridge amp had a good one already and that a streaming device would be what I should get. I may look at others but at this point am unsure whether the Wiim is the right device for me. Also their app should be updgraded- not easy to use.

WiiM Pro Plus

Very easy setup and app is quite user friendly. Works great with Roon and vTuner stations. I've also streamed DLNA content across my network no problem via the app. As far as I can tell, the sound is transparent to the source. I had an issue I think is related to my TV (Sony A95L) and/or AVR (Yamaha RX-A1080). When it's off it still runs operations in the background and when it's busy sometimes it would cause the WiiM music to skip or repeat when hooked up via coax out. It seems to be a grounding issue because I could always make it happen if I discharged static onto the metal casing of my AVR or TV. When hooked up optically (TOSLINK) there was no issue. Not docking any stars for something that very well may be downstream or unique to my setup. I mention it just in case you run into the same issue -- you'll know the workaround.

Wiim Pro Plus

I've only had it for several days... I tried using it from a TV though optical in and RCA out. With thoughts of buying a Wiim Mini for that TV/amp/speaker set up After 45 minutes of no luck with that, I hooked it up to my main system. Set up wasn't as smooth as anticipated and initially I experienced some WiFi/Wiim drop out. I chalked that up to a heavy data usage day. (I was also opening the Wiim app on my phone and using Spotify Connect. Since that first day, all that has been needed, is to open Spotify and it connects just fine without opening the Wiim app.) After that inital frustration, it has connected every time and sounds wonderful. I hope to be able to play with it and get more familiar with the Wiim unit . Any tips on where I went wrong trying to hook it up to the TV? 4 star rating due to initial set up snafu. Probably not the units fault... It has clouded my set up perception though... Otherwise, so far so good!

Not Recommended.

This is WIIM'S second chance with me. I purchased the WIIM mini a few months ago. I tried a myriad of different connections and couldn't make it work. When the Pro Plus came out, It had RCA connections so I decided to give WIIM another chance and STILL, I could not get it running. I wish to emphasize that Crutchfield bears no responsibility here. I ordered it on 6/18 and it was here on 6/20. No problem with speed of delivery. I tried Crutchfield's tech support -- No luck there. They said they'd get one of their engineers to contact me in 48 hrs. I've decided not to wait. It's going back tomorrow. I'm done with it. This device was a headache from the time I unboxed it to the time it went back in the box. Color me disillusioned.

Time to Ditch that Pre-Amp

After reading I could ditch my older Yamaha CX-2000 pre-amp in need of a digital signal path tune-up and run all my favorite digital music directly from my phone to the Wiim Pro Plus to my Yamaha MX-2000 power amplifier, I smashed the order button. And I'm pleased with the result! I used to pore over online threads of people praising the attributes of this or that loudspeaker, but I'm here to say that stepping up the resolution of your signal input is key! The WiiM Home app has a room correction feature and some EQ stuff that helps with dialing in the sound. So far, this is money well spent.

Great, affordable audio streaming option

This unit is amazing. Am using it to stream HiRez music from Qobuz, works like a charm. Set up took a few minutes, connected to my HiFi system. I recommend you use the Line Out option instead of the available Coaxial Out or Optical Out options - seems to proved better sound fidelity (in my opinion). The WiiM app is easy to use - only needed as a remote, not as the primary source. Love it!

Roon and a great DAC!

Just been using it for a week or so, but it does everything I need, which was to be a Roon endpoint and DAC with a clean analog output to my Marantz Stereo 70S. Sounds great, and I get Roon in a place I couldn't before. It does the job beautifully!

Fun, but a hassle to hook up

As a streaming newbie, I found the Wiim manual less than useless. It tells you how to connect RCA cables (thanks!), but nothing else. After spending 45 minutes on the phone with a helpful, patient tech. support rep at Crutchfield, trying to get it hooked up to Amazon streaming music, we finally figured it out. The "Airplay" option is the key, but of course I never would have known this because the manual does not mention it. What about sound quality? I am using the Yamaha S501 amp, and the three-way Elac UB52s. I found the sound with both Amazon music and Spotify to be very clear, but far too bright. Then I tried Youtube. The music is not as detailed with Youtube, but it is warmer, and far more listenable. Vinyl fans will appreciate the softer sound, I think. I suggest trying different streaming apps to see which one sounds best with your gear. Some claim the Wiim sounds better than CD sound. With certain CD's this is the case, but overall, I would says CD's sound better. The Wiim is best viewed as an addition to, not a replacement for, CD or LP listening. It is a novelty, but an enjoyable one. Its big advantage is that you can listen to millions of songs you do not own. Wiim also has a full graphic equalizer that works well. It has a useful remote control, too. All in all, a fun toy for the money.

Excellent Product

Surprisingly good sounding DAC. Compares favorably to my external DACS. Analogue and digital inputs have all proven useful. The Wiim app is excellent. Excellent product, especially considering the price.

The Wiim Pro Plus from Crutchfield arrived quickly and on time. As usual, Crutchfield was superb in their handling of the order from start to delivery. I installed the Wiim via the provided Optical cable (they also provide RCA cables), and the Wiim app. It all went smoothly. I kept the expectation level low because I didn't want to be disappointed due to all the excellent reviews of this product. It's running through a Marantz SR6015 via completely rebuilt 24 year old RCA 3 way floor speakers. Using the Pure Direct sound mode on the Marantz, the difference in sound using streamed music from Pandora and Quobuz, was absolutely astounding. Listening to Tony Bennett, then Frank Sinatra was a whole new experience. The deep rich sounds of horns and keyboards was so smooth and sweet. Then I tried some Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, and again, the sound was phenomenal. Last, I tried some Jamey Johnson (In Color), WOW! The drums and his vocals came to life. The key word I keep feeling from this device, is SMOOTH! The edginess sometimes known with digital music listening, is completely gone. I highly recommend the product.

Can't beat it for powered speakers

This little item solved my problems. Let me clarify, it does precisely what I set out to accomplish. I still more issues than a magazine rack, but that is a story for another day. Anyway, I have a pair of Klipsch The Sevens and a Klipsch subwoofer which already sounded very good. Not being an audiophile, I figured that is what they sound like. But after learning from online forums that Bluetooth compresses the signal, I wanted to see to see if there would be a discernable improvement by using a cable in lieu of Bluetooth from my tablet - without a massive investment. I called Crutchfield and spoke with Noel, who provided top-shelf advice while keeping my budget in mind. I can't say enough about the level of professionalism. Now, the signal goes directly from a strong WiFi signal to RCA cables to the speakers. When coupled with the premium DAC in the WiiM Pro Plus, the improvement is remarkable!

Great relatively inexpensive streaming solution. I stream my digital library via Room and sometimes iTunes and it works perfectly. I was really impressed that it switched seamlessly between the two apps. Setup was easy through the app. It took longer to update the firmware than to complete the actual setup. All of my digital files are local so I can't comment on web streaming integration, but it sure looks like it covers all the heavy hitters. Internal DAC measured well on audio testing sites, so you'll be getting good performance for the price. There are many use cases for streaming so decide what you need in a streamer and how it will be connected to your audio system. If this one fits your needs and downstream equipment, I'm sure you'll be happy with the Wiim Pro Plus. And it won't break the bank.

Great Product

This thing really opens up the sound quality. You can't beat it for the price. It sounds better if not similar to other streamers for double the price. The Wiim app is very user friendly. If you get one out of the Scratch and Dent or Open box stock, just make sure to go through all of the settings or do a factory reset before listening because it saves EQ settings and uses them as a default setting.

Awesome piece of gear. Period. The joy level per dollar is through the roof. Wiim has something special going on here. With Sparkos in my ZA3's and the Wiim with the upgraded DAC, the music just absolutely sings.

Wiim Pro Plus Rocks!

I have been avoiding getting into the streaming game thinking that nothing can sound as good as my beloved CD collection. Boy was I wrong and more importantly, very pleasantly surprised by the quality of sound from this rather unassuming device. I have a modest system with a Cambridge Audio CXA 60 amp and Elac Debut 6.2 tower speakers and Elac sub. I was shocked at the clarity and better separation of instruments regardless of music style. Wiim has far exceeded my expectations and I am so thankful that I finally gave in to give streaming a chance.

I ordered the WiiM Pro Plus based on numerous positive reviews. I am discerning when it comes to how the sound is presented, so I had low expectations for this device. I was very pleasantly surprised! Setup was easy through Wifi and I was able to stream YouTube Music via Airplay on my I-phone. I use YouTube Music out of convenience and I expected the sound quality to be about 80% of what a standard Redbook quality CD puts out. Boy was I wrong! Not only is the sound quality very acceptable, The WiiM is fun to listen to. The built-in EQ on the WiiM app is fun to play with and really makes a difference. I find myself wanting to stream more than playing CD's, and I did not expect this from a bargain device like the WiiM. The DAC chip, AKM4493, is well regarded, sufficiently dynamic with a touch of warmth. I may not even connect the WiiM to an external DAC. Current system: Rogue Audio Pharaoh II integrated amp w/Dark upgrades, Rotel CD14 MKII cd player, Audioquest PowerQuest 707, Mission 770 speakers.

Great way to affordably add digital music to your vintage receiver

This affordable but powerful streaming box is the perfect solution to add modern digital music sources to your vintage receiver. It's small, easy to set up and use, and sounds great. The Wiim app is how this unit is controlled, and it's intuitive and simple to use. It comes with 20 music services available (as of April 2024), most of which I hid on the main screen because they're of no use to me. I do use the free versions of Amazon Music & SoundCloud, and enjoy many of the free radio stations on vTuner, so there's three services which will get some rotation from me. It does NOT have SiriusXM integrated which is one of the reasons I bought this particular item (and which was incorrectly listed in the Crutchfield product specifications), so that was a disappointment. The Bluetooth works great though so I'm able to play a variety of other sources from my iPhone without any issue. I didn't have any luck with ApplePlay but the Bluetooth meets my needs there. I also appreciate the small size so it was easy to tuck this away (it's not much to look at otherwise). Overall I'm happy with this purchase.

Ridiculous value. Excellent D/A, UI is easy to use. Easy to setup. Love the EQ options/ Their roadmap looks amazing (more EQ, room equalization etc). Can't speak to the A/D inputs Mostly using with Amazon Music HD/UltraHD.

Excellent streamer and bang for the buck!

This is an amazing, easy to use Streamer. Setup was quick and easy and it connects to my amp instantly and starts playing music. The DAC is nice, but I use the better DAC in my amplifier and use this primarily as a streamer. Worth every penny!

Arrived safely, came with all the wires I needed, it was easy to set up and I am now enjoying hi quality music through tidal. No wires and no loss in quality. I highly recommend this if you are serious about music listening. Plus I'll add a few more to sync up my music listening throughout the house.

Love this thing

I own a 600-album digital music library, mostly my CDs ripped to ALAC, AIFF, WAV, etc. I had been looking for an easy way to bring this to my stereo system without having to use my computer to send the files to my AVR. Enter the Wiim Pro Plus. Hooking it up to my system was very easy, and so was the setup. It recognized my DNLA server without issue. Spotify, which I rarely use, works fine too through its Spotify Connect functionality. The Wiim shows up in the Spotify app among the list of AirPlay devices. I opted for the "Plus" model for the (supposedly) better DAC. Let me make clear that I don't A/B test or measure my equipment. But boy, this thing swings. High-res music sounds brilliant through my new Marantz Model 50 paired with just OK speakers (for now). My single gripe is that I would have liked some more customization options in the app, like a row of custom icons up top which would allow me to navigate straight to the right server folder with one tap. This is not enough for me to dock this device a star, though. The value proposition here is truly excellent. You'll be hard-pressed to find a streamer/DAC of similar quality for even double the money. Moreover, it's not like its output is leaving me wanting for better sound. A true audiophile may find their beef with the Wiim Pro Plus (to be clear, I don't intend to mock audiophiles here!), but if you're an average listener with a medium-grade system like me you really cannot go wrong with this one. Highly recommended.

Absolutely useful for high fidelity audio through streaming services.

"I bought the Wiim Pro Plus for an A/V Onkyo TX-NR6050 receiver with Klipsch speakers and it worked phenomenally well. I bought the Wiim for high fidelity music purposes since the receiver offers me Spotify,TIDAL,Deezer,TuneIn,Pandora, and Amazon Music,but I don't use any of those in their native form on the device. Also, the DAC chip that the receiver has is not specified, but it must be a cheap one and it doesn't have as much power as the WIIM PRO PLUS. I only have an Amazon MusicHD subscription, but on the receiver, the application is very archaic and does not offer the maximum audio resolution that you can listen to from Amazon Music HD, nor in the others, nor in the native Chromecast, nor by Bluetooth, except Tidal since in the others it does not offer the maximum audio quality. I never tried Tidal because it is expensive although they will soon lower the prices. When I connected the Wiim Pro Plus to my receiver, it gave a lot of life to high fidelity audio and volume power that I had not heard before in a simple cable that converts RCA connectors to 3.5mm and then put it on my smartphone, Laptop or Chromebook that has a 3.5mm connector. I am not an audiophile but I like music to sound super good to my ears. The WiiM is easy to connect and configure through your phone or tablet. The Wiim application is very very very good and has many options for your favorite streaming platform.I don't think I will return this because I loved it and that was my experience and I hope it.

The WiiM Pro Plus will take your music to the next level

The upgrade I didn't know I needed. I have a Marantz SR6014 and have used it for streaming my Tidal music service. I thought it sounded great. I did notice airplay 2 on my receiver wasn't the best. This WiiM Pro Plus blew me away! The internal DAC revealed sounds in my music that I didn't know I was missing. Gone are the clicks or pops between tracks and switching songs. And AirPlay 2 streaming is significantly better and smoother. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase!

Use case - 1976 receiver meets 2024

Looking to feed 2024 into your classic receiver? This should work well for you, but some tips may help. Receiver is a 1976 Pioneer SX-750 bought new with paper route money. AUX jacks via RCA cable are used for input. No remote devices or other rooms to serve - just the receiver. The WiiM Pro Plus works great in this case. Been using it for two weeks. Some tips: Don't power the WiiM via the receiver's un-grounded (two-prong) power outlets. Fingertip static charges (via the receiver chassis or anything connected to it including the RCA plugs at the WiiM end) repeatedly knocked the WiiM into a daze or to the canvas. Moved the WiiM's power and solved the problem. Stick to using the receiver's power outlets for the turntable or the lava lamp or whatever and move on. Don't locate the WiiM on or under the receiver. Network connection quality and stability improved when moved away from the receiver. Get a dedicated device for WiiM setup and controller. Used the iPhone initially, but the WiiM lost its mind with separation anxiety and needed a reboot whenever the iPhone left the room. An old Android tablet and that problem is solved. My network is an ASUS mesh so YMMV but be advised. The Line Out Level (voltage to the RCA jacks) is adjustable in the app. Default is 2V. The 500 mV setting works on this receiver without apparent overload/distortion. For reference, the AUX input sensitivity of this receiver is 150 mV.

I think the WiiM Pro is one of the easiest setups to complete for a streamer. The app is direct and user friendly. Connecting to Wi-Fi was a painless connection process, very straight forward. Syncing the unit's remote control was a matter of putting in the batteries and a button press, and it was done. It has a very friendly interface thru the Wiim Pro app, already has several music services entered for convenience. The calibration is very quick and easy to complete. In my stereo setup it took maybe 30 seconds to complete. The sound quality was amazing through the analog connections better than i expected. There is several preset EQ options as well as a parametric EQ for finer adjustments. In addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, you can use coaxial cable, analog cable, or optical cables between the WiiM and your system. The only downside i see is there was no 3.5mm connection, so if you need that then you may also need Item #: 00735RCA.

I couldn't be happier with this purchase! I'm using it to stream Amazon HD Music into my older Sony stereo and the sound quality is excellent. Much better than the little Bluetooth adapter I tried last year. The WiiM app is easy to use and the preset EQ setting are great. I set the EQ to Rock and it sounds perfectly tuned.

WiiM Pro Plus

I wanted to be able to stream music from my NAS to my vintage Nakamichi TA-2A receiver, so I purchased this. It was suggested to me by someone on a Facebook group. Online reviews were all great. I have found it to be perfect for my needs. I have it connecting wirelessly to my NAS through the router (NAS>router>Wiim>receiver). I have an old iPhone 6S dedicated as the controller so I can also see album art. I have not yet fiddled with the equalizer but it sounds better than my prior hookup (NAS>router>Firestick>VLC player>TV>audio out to receiver). The phone app is easy to use and connecting from the NAS to my ears is speedy enough, but not instantaneous. I have not used the remote control that is provided since I am using the old iPhone. The Wiim Pro Plus itself is bland looking but has a little heft to it. It's not as sexy as some other units but they are priced into the stratosphere compared to the Wiim. It's possible a more expensive unit could sound "better" but I wouldn't be able to tell the difference without a side-by-side comparison. Packaging of the unit by the manufacturer and Crutchfield packaging is great. I purchased this from Crutchfield since I have had good experience with them before, the price was the same as other sites and shipping was free. Most importantly though, I knew that if I had a problem, someone at Crutchfield would know how to help whereas if I had ordered from some big south American river, I would have been on my own!

Spotify thru my AudioEngine A5+ desk speakers sounded pretty good but using this with my stereo system is a giant step up in quality. Inadequate (for me) set-up instructions but that's almost always the case.

Great Value, Thoughtful Design, Creative Sound

After many years of purchasing DACS and streamers, some very expensive and temperamental; the WiiM Pro Plus seems to have found the secret to pleasing sound, very thoughtful and easy APP. ( easy to do just about anything you need to do) and a great EQ. Very pleased with this purchase a great $ value. My listening revolves around an extensive jazz collection mostly ripped Mosiac recordings, with some classical. Using Roon and Apple air play. Also a Sony HAP Z1 ES. The WiiM handles everything with aplomb. While I still use my Arualic Lightning DLS, it started to lose its way when switching between sources. (A sign that its age is showing and that its end is near. seen this all before.) my hardware consists of all PS AUDIO Tube components along with Magnepan and Focal speakers.

Wiim Pro Plus- great upgrade from Chromecast Audio

I really like this streamer. I'm coming from years of Chromecast Audio use so this is quite the upgrade. I like that my tv can utilize the wiim dac via the optical input. The only thing I can think of that would improve the experience is a faster way to change inputs. There are settings for the wiim to detect whether I'm streaming via tidal or playing something on my tv- it's just real slow. If there was a way to switch inputs quickly (with the buttons) on the actual device that would be very helpful. Maybe there could be a way to program the presets to quickly change inputs?

Great device!

This is a great streaming device. Easy to set up and use. The app is top notch and selecting the device via Airplay is convenient and easy. The sound is great but I have to say I could not tell much of a difference from my Audioengine Bluetooth receiver that I used previously on the same sound system. Definitely recommend over Bluetooth adapters.

Great addition to HI FI system

Great addition to my Rotel and Martin Logan audio system. I am streaming hi res audio through Tidal and it's amazing. I am hearing details in songs I listen to on a regular basis I have never heard before. Only downside is the WiiM might make my Rotel CD player obsolete

Excellent value streamer

This streamer was a pleasant surprise. I'm impressed with how full featured it is at this price. Very clean design and look, and the included remote is a nice addition though a little redundant given the free app. My only complaint is the 12 volt trigger is a2.5mm mini jack while most others are 3.5; this non-standard jack is easy to miss when buying a cable to connect to it. Overall, an excellent value

Spotty at best and horrible daily updates. Not worth even 20 bucks IMHO, even using the app so many disconnections. I bought an amp and two pro plus. All of them not for me, but that doesn't mean it's not for anyone else. Just can't meet my needy self :)
