Features
Overview: The DS18 G8400.4D is a 4-channel full-range amplifier that's part of DS18's GEN-X series car amplifiers. The compact amplifer is bridgeable, so it can also be wired as 3-channel or 2-channel. A heavy-duty aluminum heat-sink chassis helps keep the Class D amplifier circuitry cool and stable during high-output use.
RMS Power Output:
- 700W x 4 @ 4-ohms
- 1000W x 4 @ 2-ohms
- 1700W x 2 @ 4-ohms bridged
Gain: Two rotary gain controls (Ch.1/2 & 3/4) let you run low-level signals ranging from 250 mV up to 6 V.
Crossover: Two crossovers are provided (Ch. 1/2 & 3/4), each with the following options:
- Crossover Selector: A 3-position crossover switch lets you choose LPF, Full, or HPF. The low-pass and high-pass crossovers both have a 12 dB per octave slope.
- HPF: A rotary dial lets you set the high-pass filter cutoff point from 50-2000 Hz.
- LPF: A rotary dial lets you set the low-pass filter cutoff point from 50-2000 Hz.
Power/Protect LED: A single LED will illuminate Green when the amp is powered on and will change to Red if the amplifier goes into protect mode. The Protect circuit can guard against Over-Heating, Over/Under Voltage, Short-Circuit, and DC Output.
Clip LED: A Clip LED will light to let you know the input signal (Gain) has reached the distortion point and will need to be lowered.
Power Terminals: The power, ground, and remote inputs use set-screw terminals; power and ground terminals will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire (recommended), while the remote turn-on terminal can accept wire up to 12-gauge (18-gauge is usually sufficient). The set screws are tightened/loosened using a Philips-head screwdriver (not included).
Fuses: The DS18 G8400.4D does not include any fuses and will require a 240-amp fuse (sold separately) placed in-line on the power wire within 18" of the positive battery terminal.
Speaker Outputs: Four speaker outputs are provided on set-screw terminals accommodating wire up to 12-gauge.
RCA Inputs: Four RCA jacks built into the amp chassis provide the low-level signal inputs.
Note: The DS18 G8400.4D does not include high-level (speaker-level) inputs. If connecting the amplifier to a factory radio, a speaker wire-to-RCA adapter will be required and is sold separately (see Accessories).
Mounting: The DS18 G8400.4D amplifier features four mounting tabs built into the chassis ends that can be secured using the supplied mounting hardware.
