SMD Series Amplifiers: DS18's SMD Series amplifiers were engineered in collaboration with Steve Meade Designs and built for high-performance audio. They're constructed using premium Korean electrical components and high-end OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper) internal wiring, and feature premium Tiffany-style RCA input connectors, all providing the cleanest audio path from input to output. Designed to provide maximum power output while maintaining stellar sound quality, SMD amplifiers feature reverse-mounted circuit boards, dual internal cooling fans, and massive heat sinks for optimum cooling and efficiency.

RMS Power Output: The DS18 SMD-500.4AB Class-AB amplifier can provide the following output power:

• 300W x 4 @ 4-ohms
• 500W x 4 @ 2-ohms
• 1000W x 2 @ 4-ohms bridged

Controls: All of the SMD-500.4AB controls are located on one end of the amplifier. Two sets of controls are provided for Channels 1/2 & 3/4, each with the following options:

• Crossover Selector: A 3-position crossover switch lets you choose LPF, Full, or HPF. The low-pass and high-pass crossovers both have a 12 dB per octave slope.
• Xover: A rotary dial lets you set the high- or low-pass filter cutoff point from 50-2000 Hz.
• Gain: A rotary gain control lets you run low-level signals ranging from 200 mV up to 6 V.
• Bass Boost: A rotary dial lets you select a Bass Boost frequency between 30-60 Hz; a second dial lets you add 0-9 dB of boost to the selected frequency.
• Phase: A rotary dial lets you adjust the output signal phase between 0° and 180°.
• Input Mode (2Ch/4Ch): A single 2-way switch determines if all four RCA inputs will be used or if only the front inputs will be providing signals for all four channels.

LED Indicators: 

• Power: Illuminates Green when the amp is powered on and operating nominally.
• Protect: Illuminates Red if the amplifier goes into protect mode. The Protect circuit can guard against Over-Heating, Over/Under Voltage, Short-Circuit, and DC Output.
• Clip (x2): Two clip indicators (Ch. 1/2 & 3/4) will illuminate Yellow if the input signal (Gain) has reached the distortion point and will need to be lowered.

Note: Power and Protect LEDs are provided on both the input side of the amp chassis and on the top panel. The two Clip indicators are located on the top panel.

Voltmeter & RGB Lighting: The DS18 SMD-500.4AB features a translucent Acrylic top cover that lets you see the internal amplifier components. An internally-mounted VM-1 voltmeter can display the current input voltage in real-time, with a range of 10.1 to 15.8 volts in 0.3 V increments. RGB Lighting inside the amplifier lets you personalize your install with multi-color LED lighting that can be accessed via the included wireless remote control. 12 Static colors can be selected, and up to 366 color Modes can be selected manually or rotated through using Auto mode. The remote control also provides controls for Brightness, Speed, and On/Off.

Remote Level Control: An included remote level control lets you adjust the output level of Channels 3/4 from the driver's seat. The remote level control features Clip and Power/Protection LED indicators for added convenience. A 16' remote level control cable, terminated in RJ-12 connectors, is included.

Dual Cooling Fans: The SMD-500.4AB features dual internal cooling fans mounted on the top panel for maximum air flow through the chassis.

Power Terminals: The power, ground, and remote inputs use set-screw terminals; power and ground terminals will accommodate up to 1/0-gauge wire (recommended), while the remote turn-on terminal can accept wire up to 8-gauge (18-gauge is usually sufficient). The set screws are tightened/loosened using a Philips-head screwdriver (not included).

Fuses: The DS18 SMD-500.4AB does not include any fuses and will require a 200-amp fuse (sold separately) placed in-line on the power wire within 18" of the positive battery terminal.

Speaker Outputs: Four pairs of set-screw terminals, accommodating wire up to 8-gauge, are provided for the four speaker output channels. Bridging terminals are indicated on the amplifier chassis.

RCA Inputs: Four high-quality Tiffany-style RCA jacks built into the amp chassis are provided for low-level signal inputs. Input signals can range from 200 mV to 6 V.

Mounting: The DS18 SMD-500.4AB amplifier features four mounting tabs built into the chassis ends that can be secured using the supplied mounting hardware.
