Arcam ST5 Streamer
Matthew from Athens, OH on 9/16/2024
The ST5 is Arcam's matching black and yellow highlights streamer that visually pairs with the Arcam Radia amplifiers. I have the A25 amplifier and the ST5 paired together. Once you have the components setup and a music source accessed (I use the streamer with WiFi and Qobuz as the music source) the sound that they produce through my speakers (Martin-Logan Motion 60 XTI floor standing speakers) is fantastic. This is the primary virtue of these components: super clear, superb reproduction, very low distortion, absolute silence between music tracks, along with pretty nice contemporary visual design of the components. The streamer works well, 'finds' the internet reasonably well (my WiFi signal may occasionally be weaker than ideal which causes the streamer to fail to 'find the device', which is irritating, but is not the streamer's fault) and once connected it plays music of high resolutions beautifully. BUT, the Arcam software is pretty darned bad. Music is difficult to search for, for example when albums are saved to 'favorites' they only show the album name, with no identity of the artist. Looking through many albums it is very difficult to remember who the artist is for a particular named album. If I were to purchase a streamer again I would be very tempted to go with the Cambridge Audio CXN V2 in large part because the software it uses is reported to be very good, very user friendly, and the display of information on the front screen is useful and c
Pros: Excellent music reproduction Elegant visual design

This unit is interesting. The software is incomplete. I don't know when it will be completed.
Pros: Sounds very good. Simple unit.
Cons: App and software reconstruction.

Great Sound. Easy Setup
Ian from Weymouth, MA on 1/9/2024
Great Sound. Easy Setup. A few days after using my newly delivered ARCAM ST5 I have to say I am impressed, It arrived beautifully packed, and the setup was a breeze using the ARCAM App on my iPad. It seamlessly connected to my wi-fi network with no problem. Likewise, it easily logged into my Qobuz account and I was streaming 24Bit !92Khz tracks in no time at all. I connected it to my ARCAM sA20 Amp with analog cables and the ST5s built in DAC did an excellent job, producing a warm full sound with a good sound stage with that gave good separation to the instruments, Connecting it digitally with audio coax to the ampm allowing the SA20s to interpret the sound also produced a great sound, albeit rather less warm, and a tad crisper. The internet radio functionality included in the app was fine with the presets supplied all providing good sound. The search functionality included in the app was funky and felt like something from the 1980s, it was frustrating to use on both Qobuz and Amazon music, Thea- connected to my rather large media library but had trouble navigating and seemed unable to cope with the large volume (200,00 tracks). One great feature was the ability to connect a device using the USB port. It easily handles a 246GByte thumb drive and surprisingly I was also able to attach a 4TByte Solid State drive with no problem. I also tested it with both Spotify Connect and TIDAL connect with no problem, although I discovered that many of
