Overview: The Nextbase 522GW Dash Cam (NBDVR522GW) offers Quad HD 1440p recording with excellent clarity. The compact dash camera features the Click&Go PRO™ magnetic car mount that makes it easy to install or remove with one hand. With a 140° viewing angle, the 522GW gives you a wide view of the road ahead. Footage is recorded onto a microSD card (not included). The 522GW offers a wireless connection to your mobile device via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, plus built-in Alexa Voice Control. The dash cam comes with the Click&Go PRO mount (with extra adhesive pad), a 13' DC power cable, and a USB cable.

Image Sensor: The 522GW is equipped with a 5.14-megapixel image sensor with a native resolution of 2616 x 1964 pixels. The camera can record QHD video (2560 x 1440) at 30 fps in daylight or night time. You can also set the camera to record at 1080p at 60 fps or 1080p at 30 fps. If desired, you can take 2560 x 1440 still photos. Lower resolutions increase total recording times on the microSD card.

Enhanced Night Vision: With Enhanced Night Vision, the camera can pick up more detail in extreme low-light conditions. Your video will be able to clearly show road signs and license plates as you travel at night.

Touch Screen: The Nextbase Dash Cam features a 3" color LCD touch screen with a resolution of 960 (W) x 480 (H) and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It features IPS (in-plane switching) technology, which offers the best viewing angles and best color. The touch-sensitive screen lets you make menu selections, activate on-screen controls, and take a screen shot by tapping the screen.

Lens: The camera has a 6-layer (6G) lens with a maximum aperture of f1.3 that is optimized for QHD recording. It has a wide 140° viewing angle, which provides a non-distorted view of the highway ahead, as well as the shoulder and road signs. A built-in Polarizing Filter helps to reduce excessive glare from direct sunlight on the windshield. The bezel on the front of the lens rotates to allow you to adjust the filter until the captured image is clear, and glare is at its minimum.

GPS: The 522GW has a built-in GPS receiver that updates your location via satellite 10 times per second (10 Hz). For better accuracy, the dash cam uses data from the U.S.-based Global Positioning System (GPS), as well as the Russian GLONASS system. This helps the camera accurately record your location, travel direction, and your speed data. With the help of Google Maps, the GPS data is embedded into the maps that you view on MyNextbase Connect and MyNextbase Player, so you can see your location on the map. The GPS data automatically sets the correct time and date on the camera. GPS data can be valuable to show your exact location, speed, and travel direction in the event of an accident. It can also be useful for young drivers to know their speed and location is being recorded.

Wireless Connectivity: The Nextbase 522GW has Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy and QuickLink Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), allowing the dash cam to automatically sync files straight to your smartphone or tablet. You can share your dash cam footage through the MyNextbase Connect app (available for iOS and Android).

Alexa Built-in: The 522GW is the world's first 1440p dash cam to offer built-in access to Amazon Alexa Voice Control. You can use Alexa to start and stop recording, ask about traffic, and other camera controls. You can also use Alexa to play music, listen to audiobooks, get caught up on the news, check the weather, get directions, find parking, control your smart home devices, and many more. Audio from Alexa comes from your smartphone, and not from the Dash Cam. If your smartphone is connected to the vehicle's stereo system, the Alexa audio will be played through the car speakers. You must have the MyNextbase Connect and Alexa apps on your phone.

MyNextbase Connect App: With the MyNextbase Connect app on your smartphone or tablet, you can automatically transfer your dash cam videos to your device. This allows you to share your footage to police, your insurance company, or your friends and family on social media. The app's Emergency SOS feature automatically alerts emergency services with your location if there is an incident. MyNextbase Connect is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch running iOS 12.1 or later, and for Android phones and tablets running version 5.1.

Audio Recording: The 522GW has a built-in microphone and speaker that records audio along with the video. During playback, you can listen to the audio through the built-in speaker. You can disable the microphone in the menu if you choose not to record audio.

G-Sensor: The Nextbase 522GW dash cam is equipped with a built-in G-Sensor, an accelerometer that measures the amount of force applied during an impact. If you're involved in an accident while driving, the G-Sensor will cause the current recording to be protected and moved to a folder that can't be overwritten. The sensitivity can be adjusted in the menu. The G-Sensor is also active when your vehicle is parked, and the Intelligent Parking Mode (see below) is activated.

microSD Card: The 522GW records videos and photos onto a microSD card (sold separately) up to 256 GB. microSD cards from 64 GB to 128 GB are recommended. The cards should have a minimum Class 10 rating (48 MB/s) and a UHS Speed Rating of U3. In the menu, you can set the length of the individual recorded video files to 1 minute (default), 2 minutes, or 3 minutes. Video records to the card until it reaches its maximum recording capacity, then records over the oldest unsaved footage (Loop Recording). Recording capacity, based on default settings, is as follows:

Dual Files: The Dash Cam gives you the option to record and save two videos: one high quality and one low quality. The smaller file size of the low quality video is easier and faster to transfer and edit within the app. The high quality video can be used to view in more detail. With Dual Files enabled, the inserted memory card will fill up quicker.

Intelligent Parking Mode: The Nextbase 522GW protects your vehicle even if you're not driving. While your car is parked, the Intelligent Parking Mode records any bump or physical movement on your vehicle. When you turn off the ignition (and Intelligent Parking Mode enabled), the 522GW automatically switches into Parking Mode, and increases the sensitivity of the G Force Sensor. If your car is bumped, the Dash Cam will automatically switch on, record for 30 seconds, and shut down.

Click&Go PRO™ Mount: Nextbase's exclusive Click&Go PRO car mount makes the dash cam easy to install and remove. The mount securely attaches to your windshield via the 3M VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive. The mount features strong neodymium magnets that hold the camera tightly while making the power connection through its 5-pin connector. The power cable attaches to the Click&Go PRO mount instead of the camera, so you can easily remove the camera when you want.

Optional Add-on Cameras: The 522GW is compatible with optional Nextbase rear-view and rear window cameras. The Rear View Camera, Cabin View Camera, and Night Vision Cabin View Camera can be plugged directly into the Mini-HDMI Rear Cam Input on the side of the Dash Camera. The Rear View Camera has a telephoto lens that allows you to view and record out of the rear of your vehicle. The Cabin View Camera has a wide-angle lens for recording and viewing the interior of your vehicle. The Night Vision Cabin View Camera adds infrared LEDs that help record clearer nighttime video in the cabin of your vehicle. The optional Rear Window Camera mounts to the rear window and records video of the road behind you as you travel. It comes with a 21' (6.5 meter) cable that runs from the rear window to the front and plugs into the Rear Cam Input of the 522GW. When optional cameras are connected and activated, the camera will record separate files from the main dash camera and the connected rear camera. Based on the front camera's resolution settings, the rear camera's resolution will be set to either 1080p @ 30 fps, or 720p @ 30 fps.

Viewing Video: You can view recorded videos on the camera itself through the built-in 3" screen. You can also connect the camera to your computer via the included USB cable, or use an SD card reader. MyNextbase Player software can be downloaded to your PC (Windows 10) or Mac (OS X 10.9). Recorded videos can be uploaded and stored to MyNextbase Cloud for sharing on social media. While connected to your computer (and the Internet), you can update the firmware of your 522GW dash cam through MyNextbase Player. With the Mini-HDMI output, you can connect the dash cam to an HDMI-equipped TV to view the videos on your camera.

Power Requirements: The 522GW Dash Cam comes with a 13' (4 meter) power cable with a 12-24 VDC ("cigarette lighter") plug. The power adapter has an output of 5V / 1.5A, and plugs into the Click&Go PRO mount via a Mini-B USB connector. It does NOT plug directly into the USB port on the camera. The cable can be routed from your DC power port to the top of the windshield using the included Cable Tidy tool. For a more permanent wiring solution, an optional Nextbase Hardwire Kit is available.

Rechargeable Battery: The Dash Cam has a built-in 3.7V 280mAh Lithium-Polymer rechargeable battery. The battery should be fully charged for 2 hours prior to initial use. A fully charged battery provides approximately 15 minutes of battery power when vehicle power is lost, or the unit is unplugged from power. The battery is not intended to be an alternative power source to replace the supplied car adapter.

Auto Power Off: When you turn the vehicle's engine off, the power port typically turns off as well. The camera will continue recording for a short time after power is lost. You can set the Auto Power Off feature to continue recording for 10 seconds (default), 1 minute, or 2 minutes.
