Good detailed sound sometimes lacks of bass.
Modesto from Caguas, PR on 11/27/2023
It has a warm and powerful sound. Sometimes it lacks a deep bass sound so a subwoofer will compensate the issue. Overall it provides the sound that you will expect for the prize.
Pros: Good quality and sound for the prize.
Cons: Do not expect a top high end amplifier performance.

The ROTEL RB-1582 MK II Stereo Amplifier
Crutchfield customer from Jacksonville, FL on 11/15/2023
I have been buying and enjoying stereo components since the early 1970's--from lofi to hifi and on to high end. The ROTEL RB-1582 MK II replaces a pair of class D monoblocks from a respected high end company because I wanted once again to enjoy a solid Class AB stereo amplifier in my home office nearfield system. I have owned 2 ROTEL CD players and 2 amplifiers before and found them to be reliable and musically more than acceptable. Although ROTEL has been selling this amplifier model for 10 years, it's still a great product--and on sale it was irresistible. Crutchfield's shipping needs to be recognized here; the ROTEL is a heavy amp, and it came in its retail box, its shipping box, and a third outer shipping box. Nice, Crutchfield! In its break-in period, it is now hitting the 50-hour mark and while the amplifier was a bit brash and one-dimensional at the start, it is opening up and sounding nicely dynamic, less constricted, and very musical without destroying or masking fine detail and nuance. I love the power and ease with which the ROTEL plays everything from solo piano or guitar to symphony orchestras and rock bands. It's comfortable with all the forms of music I like to hear. It may well be that ROTEL will soon replace this with a newer model (considering its age and hence the sale price) but this amplifier is not to be missed. It's heavy, well-constructed and a beauty (especially in silver) and I am very pleased. Thank you, ROTEL and Crutchfield for a fine product!

Great amp, but that darn blue light
Wesley from Palmyra, VA on 11/5/2023
Great sounding amplifier, pairs very well with Rotel Pre-Amp. This sounds just as good at my 45 watt KT-88 tube amp. Don't read that as a bad thing, those amps sound great and so few solid state amps sound like tube gear. So many say Rotel is clean, neutral sounding. It also has good air, soundstage and imaging too similar, but maybe not quite as good as a tube amp. But this is not dead and soulless like many other solid state amps, and it is so much cleaner and quieter than most solid state and definitely tube amps. The magic of Rotel gear is in the pre-amps. The amps alone or driven from other gear are clean, but may lack the low end punch and toe tapping sound that you might be looking for when buying a 200 watt amp. These drive my Polk R700 speakers that dip below 4 ohm without complaint. But to be honest so do the other 80 watt amps and receivers. So many people tell me that you need a big amp with lots of head room to get full sound. I did not see improvement with this amp going from 80 to 200 Watts. Yes it will get very loud and still be very clean, but the other preamp did what most people say the amp will do. This is a great amp. I would have returned it had not been on sale, but this lets me save my tubes when watching, tv movies, or just playing music for background music. If you are upgrading and thinking Rotel, by a pre-amp first, then the amp, as there will be like more sonic improvement with a preamp. This is also why their integrated amps sound
Pros: Effortless power for soft to very, very loud, and clean, clean sound all the way. Neutral, natural sound, with good sounds stage and imaging. Sounds more like a tube amp than the soulless solid state amps I have owned. Well made, runs cool, nice looking silver/aluminum finish. Balanced and unbalance inputs
Cons: Power button has a very bright obnoxious blue led. They provide a sticker to dim it down. Red or amber, dimmer, something other than 1990's look at me it's a blue led junk. If you use 12volt trigger from pre-amp to put amp in standby mode, the darn blue led stays on and is bright! Chrome sides looks well made but out of style.

Rotel RB-1582 MkII
Crutchfield customer from Aguada, PR on 10/30/2023
I wasn't expenting much of a difference but I was so wrong...this opened up a whole new level of listening experience. Detail in music and movies improbed by a lot, soundstage sounded bigger and with "grandeur" that is hard to explain. Even at low volumes this sounded high end compared to my receiver yamaha aventage 110w receiver alone. And even with yamaha's impresive build quality i have to say this rotel takes the build quality even further, this a solid build amp and an even better sounding one.
Pros: "High end" sound, build quality.

Really Sweet Amplifier!
Christopher from Charlottesville, VA on 10/3/2023
Easy to use and extremely clean sound through this amplifier with any quality preamp. Used with the RCA audio connections and the sound was impressive. The 12-volt trigger in and out worked correctly. Just had to flip that little switch on the back and leave the power button on the front set to on (Blue light ring always on). If that blue light bugs you they provide a stick on black out ring to cover it up with. Overall, I loved the sound. It was warm, rich and had great detail. Our tested source was online Tidal. The audio sounded amazing through this Rotel. The speakers were a set of Klipsch Reference Premiers and the preamp output we used was from the Onkyo TX-RZ50 HTR. Word of note. When the unit powers up or comes out of 12-volt trigger standby or goes back into standby mode you will hear the internal amp relays audibly clicking. Also, there is a little red light down low in the center which comes on while the unit is powering up. When that goes out after about 10 to 12 seconds the amp is ready to play audio. Loved it!
Pros: Great Sound, easy to use. Comes with a mono cable for the 12-volt trigger.
Cons: None that I can think of.

Rotel RB-1582 MkII
Eugene from CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA on 8/25/2023
I needed some robust power to meet the needs of my Paradigm Premier 800F towers. Brought this incredibly well-designed amplifier home for a 30-day test run, and, boy, was I pleased. Prior to this year, I used mostly vintage '60s and '70s gear. The desire to modernize lead me to start over, but I don't want to lose some of that classic, quiet strength found in Class AB amplifiers. This Rotel, with its British-made capacitors and independent left and right power rectification stages checks those boxes and more. No nonsense. Just clean power and beautiful audio detail. Choice of balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs. High quality 5-way binding post outputs, as you'd expect. Every aspect of my experience using and learning about this piece was first class. Couldn't recommend this amplifier enough for demanding speakers in the 4-ohm to 8-ohm range.
Pros: buttery smooth power, classic Rotel excellence

An Incredible Upgrade
Michael from Bartlett, Tennessee on 7/28/2023
My Harmon Kardon PA 2400 finally fizzled out after almost 30 years of service. After reading reviews and reading up on current amplifier technology, I landed on the Rotel RB-1582 to power my B&W 702 s2. It is incredibly heavy and large and I was forced to remove the door in order for it to fit. I was initially concerned about the heat as the clearance was only about an inch on either side, but after running it for a couple of hours at a maximum comfortable volume, the amp was barely warm. The sound also seemed 'crisper' than both the PA 2400 as well as the Denon AVR-X3800H. Instruments and sounds were more easily discernable.
Pros: Power to spare Runs cool Clean sound
Cons: Had to use two single subwoofer RCA cables as connections are too far apart

Outstanding Amp
Albert from COVINGTON, KY on 7/1/2023
I've owned this amp for about a year now. I purchased it along with the RC 1590 MKII pre-amp. It is powering my Focal Kanta 2s very nicely. I've been a fan of Rotel ever sense I purchased one of their 5 channel amps, although I only used it for 2 channel play. which is the reason for my most recent purchases. The 5 channel was good, but I'm not spending thousands for a "good" system. I could not be happier with the precision, depth, sound strange, warmth, booming bass (when I want it) and overall feeling this amp provides. Dare I say at the risk of sounding immature. it makes me happy. I could not select better separates for my music taste (Rock, Country, Motown, Metal and a little adult contemporary). I was very pleased with Crutchfield's super fast shipping and, if needed (which I didn't), the outstanding customer services they provide. I've said this to myself in the past, but I truly believe this is the last system I'll ever need. Time will tell, but I cannot imagine being happier than i am with this pairing of excellence.
Pros: Clean, powerful, crisp and accurate
Cons: Runs a tad warm in a closed cabinet, so I leave it open when in use. Problem solved.

High Treble External-Amplifier (somwhat flat sound)
James from Brooklyn, NY on 2/27/2023
I purchased the Rotel RB-1582 Mk 2 to give more power to these Klipsch RF7-3s (wired each in parallel to a Martin Logan Dynamo 1600x subwoofer). The Rotel RB-1582 Mk 2 is a powerful amplifier (choose the better RCA stereo cable for the sound you'd prefer - coming out from the pre-amplifier to the external amplifier). It'll get a little warm depending how much bass / power / volume you put into the Rotel RB-1582 Mk 2 (and depending on the temperature of the room). (input connections aren't physically close. (I wanted to purchase Audioquest RCA stereo cables; but the left and right wire sections are binded together. I had to purchase another brand instead)
Pros: It's a powerful A-B external amplifier. Connect and play. It runs cool.
Cons: The left and right input connections aren't physically close. - (limits RCA stereo cable choices from pre-amplifier)

A Powerful, Clean, Open Sound (and never has to even breathe hard)
Gary from MURRIETA, CA on 2/26/2023
My Monitor Audio speakers, powered subwoofer, ROTEL monster Power Amp [1582 MKII] and Cambridge Network player have all come from Crutchfield and they perform superbly together, making up so much of the gutsy part of my excellent system. I'm a senior age guy who decided last year to assemble a 'value-centered' 2-channel audiophile system in my retirement, after about 40 years away from this great hobby. Now whenever I get a new "itch" for something, I always check Crutchfield first!
Pros: Transparent, effortless and clean, uncolored big-time power. Delightful, and even cozies up the room a little bit more during the winter season. :)
Cons: [nothing at all worth mentioning]

High-powered amp for 2 channel stereo
Bobby from Franklin, MA on 12/12/2022
Purchased this unit along with the Rotel preamplifier to replace my Denon AVR 3805 putting out 120 watts per channel at 8 ohms. This unit puts out 200 watts at both 8 and 4 ohms. Powering B&W 702 S2 tower speakers that I was able to get at 40% off since the new model just came out. The speakers run at 4 ohms and need high power based on reviews. Connected with Audioquest Rocket 33 cables. Playing CDs and Bluesound Node for streaming connected through optical cables to the preamp. XLR cables for a balanced connection between the amp and preamp. Have only been running the system for a few days but the sound is incredible! Hearing things I've never heard before with music I've listened to for years. For example, the brushes Ringo plays in when I'm 64 from Sgt. Peppers steamed at 96K. Is it the amp, preamp, speakers, cables - the answer is yes. If you want high fidelity go big or go home! You need quality across the system. This amp is high quality. It's heavy, about 40 pounds, and looks great. Bought in black to match the system. A red light comes on in the front grill when 1st powered up and then disappears when ready to crank up. Yes the blue light around the power button is bright but it matches the light on the preamp and on the Node that sits on top of the preamp. Sounds great at low or high volume but who buys a 200 watt amp for quiet listening. Speaker connections in the back are the best. Biwired the speakers with ease. Recommend. Peace, love & music!
Pros: Powers 4 ohms tower speakers and fills the room with sound at 50% volume. Highs, midrange and lows all present with 3 way speakers. Looks and sounds great especially when paired with the Rotel RC-1572 MKII preamp. Speaker connections in the back for 2 pairs of speakers are the best I've ever used. Solid for banana plugs. Runs for hours without getting hot or triggering any safety switches. Plugged into a surge protector with the preamp plugged into a single wall outlet for adequate power.
Cons: None so far except the price but learned if you want high quality equipment you have to pay high prices

Worth the splurge
Nathan from Hampshire, TN on 11/2/2022
Initially, I was going to splurge and get a single Rotel 1582. After a ton of conversations with multiple experts, I decided it was worth an even bigger splurge to buy two of them so I could bi-amp my two MartinLogan Motion 60XTi. I honestly don't think I would've been as pleased with the sound system investment had I not bi-amped the towers. Now, the issue is that I want a third Rotel amp to power my center channel.
Pros: Beautiful, sleek amp, quality power with quality components
Cons: Pricey

Brian from CHULA VISTA, CA on 10/30/2022
Added this to my RB 1552 MKII because I've enjoyed the sound and I needed more power for my front towers. I've gotten what I expected, warm-to-no coloring from the amp, but with more juice to provide power 'top end'. I really like the simple but attractive exteriors on both.

Cons: Can't think of any.

awesome amplifier
Kelly from Pensacola, FL on 10/17/2022
I bought the Rotel amp. because I grew up with Rock and Roll concerts and the love of loud music. The 250 watts of power drive my Klipsch Reference 7 speakers the way they were designed to be driven. What I didn't expect was the impressive clean sound, without distortion. My large room is now filled with sounds that were muddled (at higher volume) before adding the amp. to my Denon X4700H.Using the pre-amp output from my rcvr now gives additional power to my six other Klipsch speakers in my setup. I do have a fan to keep the amp. cool although I'm not sure it's needed. It rarely gets warm to the touch and only after 15 to 20 minutes.
Pros: Pure sound at high volume with no distortion.
Cons: none

This amp sound is wonderful, incredible running flat. Robust power supply and over engineered output modules. As with their pre-amps their use of high quality capacitors and other components in the audio path is what makes Rotel products stand out.

Does what an amplifier is supposed to do, amplify the signal to drive your speakers while imposing no sound of its own. It is as good as any amplifier out there. A bargain.

Cons: No indicator for standby mode.

Rotel RB-1582 MkII
Michael from NY on 3/3/2022
Solid amp with great sound on my KEF R7's. Compared this to a NAD C298. NAD had slightly more of everything, but I wasn't a huge fan of more for the top end. Using an Onkyo A9150 as a pre (great amp with excellent DAC for the price). Upgraded to the Rotel from a recapped vintage Onkyo M-504 which sounded great but had a couple of age related issues!
Pros: Sound, Bass, Connectivity, Power

Everything You Need, Nothing You Don't
Stephen from Brooklyn, NY on 2/17/2022
After never realizing the potential of my less-than-efficient 4 ohm Polk LSi9 speakers, I settled on this amplifier which undoubtedly has the power beyond doubt to energize these or any other speakers I may want to move up to in the future. I've learned that specifications of amplifiers are sometimes misleading--there are less expensive or similarly priced amplifiers or receivers that have on paper just as much "power" and are 4 ohm "capable", but in reality do not have the transformers nor the capacitors to properly power my speakers. The difference is astounding, the separation vastly improved and the bass is substantial yet accurate to the point where even considering the need for a sub woofer is out of the question. I appreciate the "common sense" approach that Rotel seems to have used in designing this unit. For example, other manufacturers claim that physical rigidity of their amplifiers are critical to their sound quality and add, in the case of Yamaha, steel plates to the the underside of their most expensive units. Rotel simply added a 5th leg in the dead center of the base to eliminate any chance of the chassis "flexing". The unit is still very heavy, but that's due to the powerful capacitors which are more akin to a car battery than those in lesser amps. The inclusion of what appear to be solid metal chrome bars at front corners for protection as well as aesthetics is remarkable. I am very pleased.
Pros: Enough power beyond doubt for almost any speakers. Reasonable price.
Cons: Super bright power indicator, although the humble little sticker supplied to dim it reinforces my belief that this is a no non-sense, cost efficient company that spends its money (or our money) on things that matter.

Rotel RB-1582 MkII
Crutchfield customer from Montpelier, VT on 12/21/2021
The amplifier is working as expected. It replaced a ~20 year old Rotel amp. There is not much difference in the sound, with the new one possibly being a bit clearer and with a little more "air" under it. The bass seems a bit better defined. I am driving Thiel CS6 speakers, and the combination is very transparent and even across the frequency spectrum. It is a pleasure to listen to. I considered a number of amps when making the purchase, but this one appeared to be my best choice in the $5k and under category. The Parasound has better specs, but it was literally too heavy for me to carry into the house.
Pros: Sound, price
Cons: None

I have this linked to zone 2 of a Rotel 1562 AV Receiver. It drives a pair of B&W CM10 speakers. The power is so clean I can push the speakers to amazing levels with out any apparent drop in accuracy. Of course I don't do this often. In the norm, I get warm, accurate room filling power, no drama. Build is excellent @nd hook up was a breeze. Buy with confidence.

Jeremy Clarkson is a believer in "more power". I am too. Having a lot of power allows an amp to control speakers with a vise-like grip, and this amp delivers. There's no color and no nuance - just authority as it drives speakers (Monitor Audio Silver 500's, in my case) with the signal it's fed.
Pros: Power. Well built.
Cons: The blue light around the power button...

Sweet amp!
Javier from Everett, WA on 4/2/2021
Have had only for a day so far. This was replacing a Cambridge Azur851W that was returned because of terrible overheating in matter of minutes. It looked amazing but seemed very shoddy build. I thought the sound was great, as that was also a 200w per channel stereo amp, with roughly the same size and weight as this Rotel. The CA amp was getting up to 111f. I say this because the Rotel amp here has been on all day at moderately high volumes and the max was 80f on a hi res track. Not only that, the sound is incredible! It actually has more depth and balance that's noticably different! I have more confidence with this one.
Pros: Nice finish, easy setup, stays cool!!!
Cons: Maybe a bit heavy if that bothers you
