Great bang-for-buck open back!
Charles from NORTON, VA on 4/30/2025
I've been a fan of Meze since we first picked 'em up a few years ago, first hearing the 99 Classics and immediately impressed with their sound and build, particularly at the price point. After a couple weeks with these 105 AERs, they don't disappoint either! They take some aspects I like from their closed-back siblings and add a bit more openness and airiness to the sound. This headphone was a fun listen for me, with a subtle V-shaped response typical of Meze. Bass quantity is tasteful, punchy, yet stays tight and snappy, while the upper end stays clean and crisp without being too forward or fatiguing. This may not be the set of cans for a full-on basshead but the voicing was well-balanced. I ran this through various DAC/amp setups, including the NEO iDSD 2, DacMagic 200M, and AudioQuest Dragonfly Cobalt to name a few, and it paired well with all as they're easy to drive, but they're also resolving and capable enough to respond to the different pairings. I also played around with some EQ settings, where it also responded well if you're the type that likes to tweak things to your tastes - I really liked boosting bass just a tad for certain tracks/styles; XBass on the Neo IDSD 2 was a nice "quick-and-easy" way to accomplish this too. And as always, Meze delivers on the comfort! Light enough for long sessions, comfortable headband without (for me, at least) any sort of pressure or hot spots, and clamping force was secure without too much pressure.
Pros: Comfortable headphones with fun tuning that doesn't need robust amplification for great sound. Good detail and staging in this price range. Overall, this one does a bit of everything well.
Cons: Perhaps not the most neutral tuning with its slight V-shaped response and maybe not quite as resolving as it's bigger siblings or some higher end cans on the market, so - like most headphones - it can all come down to your preferences and use-case.

Extremely comfortable; great sound.
Glen from Orange County, CA on 4/22/2025
I don't use headphones frequently, but when I do, I want good sound and a comfortable fit. I was considering the 109 Pro but thought I'd give the 105 Aer a try at half the price. I'm glad I did. I'm sure that there are headphones that sound even better than these, but not at this price. They have good base extension and detail. And they are extremely comfortable. I would recommend these to anyone looking for headphones this price range.

Relaxing Listen, Quality Build
Samuel from Doylestown, PA on 2/25/2025
First thing you notice about these headphones is how well built and comfortable they are - the build quality is superb. I got these hoping that they would be an alternative to my more highly detailed HiFimans and that's what they delivered - a warm and relaxed sound signature that allows for hours of undemanding listening. Everything about the sound is very good - nothing is spectacular - the highs are smooth, the bass is solid (lacking only some sub bass slam) and the mids are OK, though can reveal some graininess on certain recordings (I use these exclusively for CDs). The soundstage is decent for headphones at this price point and has some depth and layering that makes good distinctions between instruments. The only thing I didn't like was the cable - I found it too short for my needs. It's about 3-4 feet and very thin, but didn't have any harmonics issues, so it might be OK for desktop use. (I already had a 10' Hart Cable that was a perfectly fine substitute). I'm using this in my secondary setup which is based around an IFI Zen Can amp, but I think this would scale up fairly well with better gear. All in all, it's a fine headphone that just feels great to have on your head and is perfect for casual listening, where you just want to get lost in the music. PS - Don't be concerned about buying from Crutchfield's "scratch and dent" outlet. This item was the 3rd time I used that option on some gear and they were all perfect as far as I could tell.

Meze Audio does it again!
Kevin from Bakersfield, CA on 1/19/2025
The 105 AERs are a comfortable, beautifully designed pair of headphones with great midrange and a bit of extra oomph in the bass. Overall, it's a great sound. I tend to listen to a lot of techno, jazz and classical and the 105 AERs excel for that. They're easy to listen to, even over long stretches. IMO a nice headphone at this price point. These are now my daily drivers.

Well worth the price
James from Des Moines, IA on 12/29/2024
I purchased as an alternative to my Senheisers HD660S which are a great headphone but I like the bass output through these Meze Audio 105EAR for rock music. For the money they have great spaciousness and tone quality. With my streaming DAC with a ten band graphic equalizer I can control the frequencies easily. They aren't the lightest but the headband design is comfortable enough to not notice the weight. After two weeks they are sounding better each time I use them and that is on a daily basis. I've tried some units that are triple the price that were probably better but not enough to warrant paying that much more. And the Crutchfield customer service is the best of any on line retailer.
Pros: Light, comfortable and good all round sound.
Cons: They are a little bass heavy but with graphic equalizer I can cut that back a little.
