Alpine Restyle i509-WRA-JK

Overall the system works very well and looks great. Very happy we got it. It does take a little time to learn the ins and outs of working it and connection to phone takes a little longer than the older uconnect system. Just be sure that wiring is installed correctly. Had mine professionally done but phone calls would not go through the speakers. Brought to installer and was a ten minute fix. Only other issue was included microphone does not adhere well to jeep.

This setup was clearly designed to fit the Wrangler. Easy and clear instructions to install. Plus it updated our 2015 Jeep to 2024 standards. Great update! Very happy.

I upgraded from the i407 and this is heads and tails better. The i407 screen was washed out but this is super clear. The new dash panel looks factory, wireless Apple Carplay works like a charm - no more cables, and it sounds amazing. The features and install were pretty straightforward. A couple nits - there is less clearance on the turn signal control than before with the new dash panel and the wiring diagram was a bit confusing as it relates to the rear camera hookup. It looked like a different connector and I thought it was missing at first but it is part of the main harness module you receive with the kit.

Must do upgrade for 2015 Jeep Wrangler!

Great upgrade for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler! Paired with the Alpine back up camera on this initial purchase and then about 6 months later with the Alpine speaker upgrade package including amps and subwoofer...now my Jeep Wrangler is bumping! Better sound on this system than the new system that came in my wife's 2021 High Altitude! The price will set you back (thats why I didn't do it all at once) but was definitely worth the wait! Install was straight forward as all the connections were plug and play. Got nervous when having to cut the dash but the online videos guided me thru that part and the entire install. The Alpine video is a good one to review as well as others posted on YouTube.

Overall, New Restyle was a Bust

I preordered and waited months for the release of the Alpine Restyle i509-WRA-JK stereo. I was so excited for it and the features and just knowing the quality of Alpine radios. However, I have to say after trying to work through the bugs and using the radio for a year now that I am super disappointed in the quality. The most disappointing feature is the quality of my blue tooth phone calls now. No one can hear me when they call me. I hear them fine, but they just can't hear me. The other disappointing factor is the times it will drop CarPlay or even blue tooth music connection and refuse to reconnect. Almost always have to stop and kill the engine to try to reconnect. Very frustrating when using the navigation through CarPlay. Lots of minor inconveniences with this radio that should not be happening. Play back of dash cam videos is also almost impossible to access. I do love my back up cam/rear dash feature. It is much easier to access and absolutely love the look and size of the stereo itself. It is an amazing piece and improves the aesthetics of my Jeep, just wish it worked as well as it looked. Especially for what I paid for the stereo itself and the added dash cameras. I would not buy this stereo again without witnessing major improvements and resolutions of bugs.

Alpine I509 WRA-JK

Installed this in a 2016 HardRock Rubicon Wrangler Unlimited and it looks and sounds amazing. It really does bring the sound to life in the Jeep. The fit and finish are outstanding. Alpine hit a homerun with this one. If you are on the fence about this one, do it. you won't be disappointed. It really brings the sound and the dash to life.

Outstanding System, Features, and Dispay

Had the i509-WRA-JK and the HCE-C2100RD (multi-view rear camera) installed in my 2016 JKUR. My Rubicon was the Hard Rock edition that came with the 9 speaker Alpine upgrade and came with OEM 430n radio and it sounded good. However, when I had the i509 installed WOW did it wake up those Alpine speakers and bring those to life. The audio features alone are unparalleled with the preset EQ, manual EQ adjustments, bass options, dynamic bass, sound correction, cross-over adjustments etc. Then add the big 9" bold and beautiful display that can be customized. I use the wireless car play and its great. I've had no connectivity issues, cell calls are great, and the navigation apps like WAZE and google maps work very well. The fit and finish with the included dash bezel looks like the OEM trim on the factory dash. It doesn't have that oversized floating screen that looks out of place. Alpine hit a home run with this design. The Alpine camera integrates flawlessly with this unit with its proprietary connection so there's no need to splice wires. This kit comes with all the harnesses your need including your iDatalink maestro module, antenna adapters, usb cables, and microphone. All my steering wheel controls worked like before and I even have my tire pressure and engine gauges available to view on the radio screen. It took me about an hour to go through the whole manual to program the radio to my personal settings and you can adjust the camera guidelines as well.

Alpine Restyle i509-WRA-JK

So I purchased this and waited for my head unit to finally kick the bucket. I messed up waiting for so long for the install. I watched every video to install this. I'll say the install is relatively easy. However, I unfortunately have issues. One issue, although small and not really a huge, the blue tooth mic mount is totally different compared to the video. The one I received was a adhesive mount. Not a clip on to the head liner like in the video. The amount of money for this, you'd expect no issues with harnesses. I called Crutchfield and although the person on the other line was helpful in getting me to the right contacts, they still were not helpful when it came to troubleshooting. They pretty much said it'd be easier to just send the whole unit back but because my warranty expired, I'd have to buy a whole new unit. Yeah.... I'm not dishing out this much for a new unit. With no wire diagram available to troubleshoot and isolate, Alpine not responding to my emails and nobody available to talk to for tech support, and the company for the Maestro module only working Mon - Fri, I'm spending another $600 on the main harness and the OBDII harness since my warranty expired. If you get this, immediately install. It might even benefit you to have 2 and return the extra unit or keep it for parts but again that's a lot of money to collect dust. If all is repaired when I get the harnesses, the rating would be 5 stars. The unit is amazing.

I bought this radio as an upgrade to the X407-WRA-JK. If I had it to do over again I wouldn't. First the backup camera function on my unit worked exactly opposite of how it is supposed to, until I cut the wiring harness and provided my own reverse trigger. You shouldn't have to do that on a unit at this price. Also, even tough I have both the front and rear cameras hooked up, I don't have any of the special triggers available. The cameras I am using are HCE-C2600FD for the front, and HCE-C2100RD for the rear. Also tried HCE-TCAM1-WRA, which didn't work at all. It works with the PSS-22WRA speaker system, barely. It is noisier than X407-WRA-JK, and I can't find any good settings for the newer radio.

Like factory. Perfect. Higher quality than stock. I wish getting the screen flush was a little easier, but I can't think of a better method aside from guess and check.

Do it, you won't regret it.

Amazing. I can't believe the way this changed the sound of my jeep. Plus it looks great. Only issue I had was finding power for my back up camera. Alpine has cameras that would just plug in, but i already had another brand. By the way, get it from the 12v dash outlet. This has nothing to do with the product though. Very impressed. Steering wheel controls work perfectly.

ILX-407 to i509 = Quite the upgrade!

My 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK 2-door came with a basic radio w SXM and the optional Alpine sound upgrade. I had installed an Alpine ILX-407 using a Metra kit and the idatalink Maestro RR2 w/ CH1 harness. Note - this was NOT the ILX-407 restyle kit that Alpine still offers. At the same time I had installed the Alpine Wrangler JK RVC system as my stock Jeep did not include a rear view camera. All of that is very nice gear that worked fine for me. Even so, I really wanted to try this total restyle approach by Alpine so when Crutchfield got one of the Alpine Restyle i509-WRA-JK kits in their Outlet store I took the plunge. The hardest part was to take my saw to the stock dash bezel but you will see that it is easy to get the new center bezel to install flush and hide the area where you made cuts. Even so, I used a belt sander and smoothed up the cuts to draw them closer to the true seam where the center part projects out. Also, my Alpine camera has 4-wires running up the dash area. Older head units like the ILX-407 require that you use a simple plug-in adapter (provided with the camera kit) to provide power and ground to the camera in the rear. I had not needed to use the reverse signal wire (orange/white) in the 407's harness as the Maestro tells the head unit when you shift into reverse - thanks to that simple OBD2 harness you plug in. 509 doesn't need that adapter as the 4-wire camera cable plugs directly into a mating harness on the 509. Sound is far better!

Alpine Restyle - close, but not quite there yet.

So far looks great in the jeep and works pretty well, but I do have a complaint that is just obnoxious. I pay attention when I'm driving, so things that flicker or distract that I see in the corner of my eye cause me to look so I can react to them. Well rather than using the Day/Night sensor that the Jeep already has built in which works wonderfully, they decided to put their own sensor on the front of this. The sensor is too sensitive and there is no way to adjust it. So I'm driving along on a nice sunny day, I pass under a large tree and *flick* night mode. Then out from under the tree *flick again* back to day mode. I can set it to be either undimmed or dimmed all the time, but as anyone with a jeep can guess, the night mode is too dark to see when the jeep is open. And the light mode is almost blinding at night. For the price, this oversight is a bit disappointing since I know most much cheaper stereos don't have this issue.

Expensive, but one of the coolest upgrades for the JK. Works and integrates flawlessly. Alpine is best of the best. Gives the interior a custom look. Dont forget the initial setup process for the subwoofer rca out or it won't power on the woof woofs bump bump!!
