Refresh your dash with power and style

Alpine's iLX-W670 multimedia receiver builds upon the functionality and deisgn to their legendary iLX-W650 radio with sonic enhancements to make things more ear-friendly. It supports wired Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ phone integration, plays well with Bluetooth® devices, and to round things out, it offers more advanced audio command than its predecessor, with a heavy emphasis on bass management for smooth low end no matter what you're listening to.

Its shallow chassis allows it to work in a wide array of dashes, and it even fits perfectly with Alpine's slender KTA-450 power pack amplifier or KTA-200M mono power pack amplifier, so you can add high-performance power without going outside of your installation comfort zone in hard-to-fit vehicles. To round things out, it offers more advanced audio command than its predecessor with a heavy emphasis on bass management, for smooth low end no matter what you're listening to.

Works with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

The iLX-W670 is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you and your passengers can enjoy messaging, mapping, tune selection, and much more from your smartphone. Both platforms work with voice commands, which you can activate by speaking a keyword or pressing the dedicated "Voice" button on the stereo's bezel. Get more info at www.apple.com/ios/carplay and www.android.com/auto.

Take charge with ease

CarPlay and Android Auto make important functions easy to control with large, familiar app icons. Other info appears on the screen in big, easy-to-read text on a clean, clutter-free background. The included external microphone lets you activate apps with voice commands, so you can make calls, compose texts, select tunes, and start navigation without taking your hands off the wheel or your eyes off the road.

Trademark Alpine audio — now with even more visual appeal

Alpine loads the iLX-W670 with a 13-band graphic EQ, 6-channel time correction, and crossovers for the front, rear, and sub channels. Three sets of 4-volt preamp outputs deliver an ultra-clean signal for adding external amps for more power. Alpine's new Sound Boost menu features expanded Bass Boost and Mid-Bass Boost controls, along with tools for directing your sub (or subs), including sub level and sub phase settings.

If you've got Alpine's eye-catching PrismaLink™ enclosed subs in your ride, the Sound Boost menu also gives you control over the lighting. You can match the five basic key illumination colors of the radio, or choose a custom color for your PrismaLink subs. It's a rainbow at your fingertips

Add satellite radio and/or a camera

The iLX-W670 is SiriusXM-ready, so you can add a satellite radio tuner and enjoy your favorite music, sports, entertainment, and more anywhere you go. If you want to connect another entertainment source, it offers a rear audio/video auxiliary input. And it offers a convenient camera input so you can get into and out of tight parking spots with ease.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

You'll need a wired connection to your parking brake to access settings and other features on this receiver. Your parking brake must be connected and set in order to view video on its screen.

Your compatible iPhone 6 or newer will need to be connected to the Alpine receiver's rear-panel USB port via the included USB extension cable and an Apple Certified cable. Apple CarPlay is specially designed for driving scenarios. You can control CarPlay from the Alpine receiver's touchscreen controls or use Siri to control to control CarPlay with just your voice. If you have iOS 12.0 or newer on your iPhone with the latest version of Google Maps or Waze, you can choose to navigate via the Google Maps or Waze application instead of Apple Maps. Google Maps and Waze do not support Siri voice control, but will have their own proprietary voice control function which has to be accessed through a touchscreen icon on the receiver.

Using CarPlay in your vehicle, you can ask Siri to close or open your garage door, turn on or off home lighting, increase or decrease the temperature of your thermostat, as well as control select functions of other Apple HomeKit enabled devices and appliances. Click here for a list of compatible Apple HomeKit products.

    Notes:

    • Bluetooth hands-free phone and wireless music streaming cannot be used while Apple CarPlay is being used with a connected iPhone.
    • Use an Apple Certified cable that is under 6' long and avoid using any extension cable other than the one supplied.

Your compatible Android smartphone must be connected to the Alpine receiver's rear-panel USB port via the included USB extension cable and your phone's USB cable, plus be paired via Bluetooth. Android Auto extends the Android platform into your car in a way that's purpose-built for driving and automatically brings you useful information and organizes it into a simple on-screen interface that is simple to use in the vehicle. It's designed to minimize distraction so you can stay focused on the road ahead. Features of Android Auto include -

    • Google Assistant: The Alpine receiver enhances your Android Auto experience even more by incorporating Google Assistant using the head unit's external microphone and your car speakers for voice command and text-to-speech, which makes using Android Auto and all of its integrated applications fast, easy, and safe. You will need to press the "mic" button or say "OK Google" to activate the Google Assistant. Use the Google Assistant to make a call, send a message, reply to a message, get driving directions, listen to music, or even control select Google Assistant smarthome enabled devices.
    • Google & Waze Maps: Use Google Maps to get where you're going with on-screen maps, voice-guided navigation, live traffic information, lane guidance, and more. Select your destination by using the head unit's touchscreen or just say where you want to go through the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You can even listen to music from your Android Auto device or other connected source device while using Google Maps. If you prefer, you can switch over to a simpler version of the community-based Waze navigation app (version 4.27 or higher).
    • Phone & SMS: With Android Auto you get access to your contacts and messages through the Alpine receiver while keeping your eyes on the road. Use the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology to make a phone call, or have your text-messages read aloud to you while you concentrate on the road ahead; you can even reply to texts via voice command.
    • Music: Access your Android smartphone's music library through the Alpine receiver via YouTube Music. You'll be able to browse music like you do on your smartphone with song/artist information display and album art. You also get access to online music and radio stations from Amazon Music, Tidal, Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, SiriusXM, Slacker Radio, Tune-In, and more; as well as news, sports and talk radio apps. Audio & DSP Section

CTA-2006 Compliant: The specifications given by Alpine for the built-in amplifier comply with the CTA-2006 mobile amplifier power testing and measurement standards from the CTA (Consumer Technology Association). All manufacturers who comply with the standard can display the CTA-2006 logo on their product.

    • CTA-2006 Power Rating: 16 watts x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Max Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts Peak)

Power Pack Compatible: Add the KTP-445A Head Unit Power Pack (500KTP445A, sold separately) to deliver 45 watts x 4-channel RMS of power. The KTP-445A is compact enough to install behind the Alpine receiver. It plugs in-line with the head unit's wiring harness, so you don't even need additional wires.

PowerStack Compatible: The iLX-W670's compact and shallow chassis is optimized to mount one of Alpine's Power Pack amplifiers (sold separately) to the back of the in-dash receiver. Alpine's PowerStack design lets you add more power to your sound system, while occupying the same depth as a traditional Double-DIN (4") radio. These amplifiers are not plug-and-play, and will still require power run to your battery. They feature power/ground/remote wires, as well as line-level RCA inputs and speaker wire outputs. *You can only mount one of the Power Pack amplifiers to the back of the iLX-W670. Mounting one of these amplifiers to the back of the iLX-W670 increases the overall installation depth of the receiver to 4.605".

    • KTA-450 Amplifier: The KT-A450 (sold separately) is a 4-channel amplifier that is rated at 50 watts x 4 channels into 4-ohms. It can also be bridged to provide 100 watts x 2 channels into 4-ohms. The amp features a variable high-pass crossover (60Hz, 80Hz, 120Hz, or Off) and adjustable gain control.
    • KTA-200M Amplifier: The KTA-200M (sold separately) is a mono-subwoofer amplifier that utilizes Alpine's exclusive Dynamic Peak Power technology to produce 200 watts x 1 channel into 4- or 2-ohms. The amp features a variable low-pass crossover (60Hz, 80Hz, 120Hz, or Off) and adjustable gain control.

6ch/4V Preouts + Sub Control: The iLX-W670 has three sets of 4-volt RCA pre-outs (Front/Rear/Sub) for connection of external amplifiers. The unit's front and rear preamp output can be faded, while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. The subwoofer output level can be adjusted independently from the main volume setting (0-15); so even at low volume settings the subwoofer is still audible. The subwoofer output phase can be set to Normal (0°) or Reverse (180°).

High-Pass & Low-Pass Crossovers: The head unit is equipped with independent High Pass Crossover Filters for the front and rear speaker outputs or preamp-outputs, as well as a Low Pass Crossover Filter for the subwoofer preamp-output.

    • High Pass Filter: The Alpine head unit is equipped with a high-pass filter for its front and rear speaker outputs or preamp-outputs. You can set the unit's high-pass filter center frequency point to 25Hz, 32Hz, 40Hz, 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160Hz, 200Hz, 250Hz or Off (through).
    • Low Pass Filter: The unit's subwoofer output low-pass filter can be set to 25Hz, 32Hz, 40Hz, 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160Hz, 200Hz, 250Hz or Off (through).

Equalizer: The Alpine iLX-W670 is equipped with a variety of EQ Presets, a 3-Band EQ, and a custom 13-Band EQ to tailor the music to your listening preference. The EQ settings are applied to all sources.

    • Preset EQ: The simplest way to adjust the head unit's EQ curve is by select from one of the 7 EQ presets. You can choose from Flat, Hip-Hop/R&B, Rock, Easy Listening, Pop, Bass Boost, and Mid Bass Boost. The Custom mode allows you to manually adjust a 3-Band or 9-Band EQ.
    • 3-Band EQ: The 3-Band EQ allows you to manually adjust the Alpine receiver's Bass, Midrange, and Treble from -12 to +12 dB for a better listening experience.
    • 13-Band Graphic EQ: The advanced 13-Band Graphic EQ allows you to further fine-tune the Alpine receiver's sound. The 13-Band Graphic EQ offers 50, 80, 125, 200, 315, 500, 800, 12.5k, 2k, 3.15k, 5k, 8k, and 12.5k center frequency bands that can be adjust from -12 to +12 dB. You can up to 3 custom EQ presets.

Time Correction + Speaker Level: This unit is able to delay the audio signal to the speakers and subwoofer(s) closest to the listener with its built-in Time Correction feature. This effectively creates a perception of increased distance for those speakers. Time Correction allows the listener to be placed at an equal distance between the left and right speakers for optimum staging. You can adjust the time delay (0.0-10.0msec) of each speaker and subwoofer to the listener. You can also adjust the level of each speaker and subwoofer (Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right, and Subwoofer) from 0 to 10dB.

Beep Guide: This function will give audible feedback with varying tones depending upon the button pressed. This feature can be turned On or Off.

    Touchscreen Display + Camera Connectivity

6.75" Capacitive Touchscreen: The 6.75" capacitive touchscreen boasts a 800 x 480 resolution (1.15 million pixels) with a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. The touchscreen monitor provides a balanced picture, not over-emphasizing dark or light areas, so album art, map screens, and videos are seen with greater clarity. The capacitive touchscreen requires less pressure, responds faster, and can recognize multiple touch points simultaneously; all advantages when compared to traditional resistive touchscreen displays.

    • Background (Wallpaper): You can select between 5 presets backgrounds (wallpapers) or select a custom background (wallpaper) image from a connected USB thumbdrive.
    • Brightness (Dimmer) Control: You can adjust the brightness of the touchscreen monitor's LCD backlight for Day and Night time driving. You can manually switch between Day or Night brightness mode, or have the unit automatically adjust the brightness based on the ambient light in your vehicle.
    • Clock Display: The iLX-W670 lets you select between a 12 hour or 24 hour clock, and is displayed on each source screen. The clock can be set to turn off with the unit, or continue to display after the unit is turned off (as long as the vehicle's key is in the accessory or on position).
    • Video Lock-Out: For safety and legal reasons, the iLX-W670 features a video lock-out feature to prevent the driver from viewing a video source while the vehicle is in motion. To watch a video source, the vehicle must be stopped with the parking brake engaged and the ignition in the ACC or ON position. This also includes advanced setup menus. CarPlay & Android Auto do not require the Parking Brake to be engaged.

Touch-Sensitive Buttons: Conveniently located touch-sensitive buttons (including Power/Menu, Source, Volume Up/Down, Mute, Phone/Answer, and Voice/Mic)s are accessible along the bottom edge of the 6.75" touchscreen monitor for quick access and simple control. The touch-sensitive buttons offer variable color illumination. Choose from Blue, Red, Amber, Green, or White.

Camera Input: A composite video camera input allows for the connection of backup camera (sold separately - see Accessories Tab). The rear-view camera feature is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

    • Guidelines + Mute: The rear-view camera function also provides on-screen color-coded guidelines to assist you when backing up your vehicle into a parking space. You can also have the unit automatically mute the audio when your vehicle is backing up.
    • Auto Rearview Switching: If a rear-view camera is connected, you should also connect the unit's reverse gear wire to your vehicle's back-up lamp circuit. When properly connected, the image from the rear-view camera automatically appears on the monitor when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. Automatic video switching takes approximately 0.75 seconds. You can also manually select the camera input.

Lighting Link Control: The iLX-W670 is also compatible with Alpine PrismaLink Subwoofers; including the S2-SB8, S2-SB10, & S2-SB12 (sold separately). Through a proprietary wired connection, you'll be able to control your Alpine PrismaLink Subwoofer's LED lighting effects using the iLX-W670's touchscreen monitor. Choose from Blue, Red, Amber, Green, or White.

Steering Wheel Control Compatible: The iLX-W670 offers steering wheel control compatibility with iDatalink Maestro, Metra, and PAC SWC adapters (sold separately). The iLX-W670 may require manual SWC programming through its touchscreen menu.

    Q
Can you listen to the radio and have CarPlay running at the same time?
    greg  Feb 20, 2024
    1 answer
    A
You can, Greg. With the Alpine iLX-W670 radio you can use Carplay for your navigation and listen to the AM/FM radio as your source. If you choose a Carplay audio source, it will play that source instead of the AM/FM input.

    Q
I am replacing the stock radio in a 2016 Chevy Silverado. It has an auxiliary usb plug in the console. Will this radio work with that plug or is it necessary to use a cable out the back?
    rjmenke  Feb 08, 2024
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Roy. Thank you for your question. The factory USB port on 2015-2018 Silverado's will be lost. Unfortunately we do not have an adapter to retain that on these vehicles.

    Q
Can I put this particular radio in a semi?
    jalen  Feb 06, 2024
    1 answer
    A
If your big rig can fit a Double DIN (roughly 4"x7" radio cutout) the Alpine iLX-W670 is an option, Jalen. Many 18-wheelers will use a single-DIN sized radio like the Alpine UTE-73BT in the link below, make sure to confirm what size radio you have currently installed before purchasing. We do not offer any big-rig specific installation interfaces or dash kits, so using the same size radio as you have in place now is crucial. We are here to help anytime! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500UTE73BT/Alpine-UTE-73BT.html

    Q
I recently purchased a 2014 Subaru Impreza 2.0i Sport Premium. Can I have this installed by a shop using the PAC SWI-CP2 Steering Wheel Control Adapter and PAC SWI-ADAPT Steering Wheel Control Input Adapter combination for steering wheel functionality?
    adam  Jan 29, 2024
    1 answer
    A
We do not list the SWI-CP2 as a compatible option for this radio and your vehicle, Adam. The link below pairs the radio and install gear using the Metra ASWC-1 steering wheel control module and compatible installation accessories. https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rXYEc222/cart/EmailCart.aspx?emKey=3305971

    Q
Will sirius xm Traffic + Travel Link subscription work with iLX-W670, or does the unit need to have built-in navigation?
    david  Jan 20, 2024
    1 answer
    A
Greetings David. Thats an excellent question. Its not the Alpine, or any aftermarket satellite ready stereo, but the extra hardware needed to get satellite radio into these stereos. A third-party tuner is needed for satellite radio which also includes traffic. At this time, there is no mention of travel link supported even if the aftermarket stereo had built in navigation. Anything is possible with a future update. The best place to inquire is the manufacture to see if there is an update. Audiovox manufactures the hardware to Sirius/XM. Their number is 800-645-4994. hope they have a better answer.

    caleb  Jan 01, 2024
    1 answer
    A
The Alpine iLX-W670 is not compatible with the RUX-HO2 remote knob, Caleb. The RUX-H02 wireless remote knob is compatible with the following Alpine Halo head units only - iLX-F509, iLX-F511, iLX-507, i509-WRA-JK and i509-WRA-JL.

    Q
Is this compatible with the factory backup camera in the 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport?
    patrick  Dec 19, 2023
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Patrick. Thank you for your question. Most aftermarket stereos Crutchfield carries are, but you also need the correct vehicle specific wire adapters as well. The wiring adapter we carry for the 2018 Civic will keep, the factory camera.

    Q
Are the plugs backwards compatible with the ILX-W650? If you have an ILX-W650 can you simply unplug it and plug in the ILX-W670 without having to rewire your car?
    andrew  Dec 19, 2023
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Andrew. Thank you for your question. The main 16 pin harness' are the same pin for pin. The preout/camera harness is the one we cannot verify if it is the same, but even if not, its just RCA connections anyway.

    Q
I read that the iLX-W670 allows you to add a custom background from a USB. Would the custom wallpaper stay if I removed the USB after setting it to the custom wallpaper? I would like to be able to have the custom background and still have access to apple car play.
    luke  Nov 24, 2023
    1 answer
    A
The USB drive does need to stay connected, Luke. If you need to connect a USB drive while using Carplay, consider installing the Alpine iLX-507 in the link below that has both USB and wireless Carplay features. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500ILX507/Alpine-iLX-507.html

My car has a SiriusXM antenna with a FAKRA connector. What type of adapter do I need to use this receiver?
    trevor  Nov 05, 2023
    1 answer
    A
Based on this information, it's likely that the iDatalink SAT2 would be the correct choice. However, our advisors are happy to check compatibility. You will also need an SXV300 tuner for the job. Here's a link to the SAT2 for reference: www.crutchfield.com/p_794ANTSAT2/item.html
