Alpine's DSP control app

Matrix mixing allows for summing and input/output signal management. Fully adjustable high-pass, low-pass, and bandpass filters, plus 31-band equalizers on every channel match the sound to your speakers and smooth out any hot spots or dips in the response due to your vehicle's interior. The delay feature lets you center the stereo image for your listening position. After initial setup using your PC device, all adjustments can be made automatically using the PXE-C80-88's control app run on your iPhone using its built-in mic, or with your PC using a separate measurement microphone, like Alpine's KTX-CSP1. PC users can make all the sound adjustments manually to create a more personalized soundscape.

Power under the hood

While the PXE-C80-88 can act as a stand-alone processor for use with your own aftermarket amplifiers, its built-in 8-channel amp has plenty of power to run your system. It puts out six channels of 50 watts RMS each to speakers with 4- to 2-ohm impedances — so it'll work equally well with factory and aftermarket speakers — plus two channels that can each produce 150 watts RMS at 4 ohms and 300 watts RMS at 2 ohms, to power louder mid-bass drivers and subwoofers.

Features

Overview: The Alpine PXE-C80-88 (OPTIMT8) Hi-Resolution Digital Sound Processor/Amplifier is an all-in-one solution for fine-tuning and amplifying your vehicle sound system. The processor/amplifier can be interfaced with any factory or aftermarket head unit, and includes Alpine's AntiEQ processing to eliminate factory equalization. The PXE-C80-88 offers 31-band parametric or graphic EQ on each channel, along with high- and low-pass filters, time correction, and polarity inverting. It features 8 channels of high-level input and 6 low-level preamp inputs, all assignable via a mixing matrix to any of the 8 powered or RCA outputs. Additional assignable inputs include a coaxial digital input, USB, and Bluetooth. The PXE-C80-88 can be manually configured using a Windows PC and a USB connection (cable included). Alpine's Automatic Tuning option lets you quickly configure your system using the PXE-C80-88 PC App and a setup microphone (sold separately), or using an iPhone 10 (or newer) smartphone running the OPTIM8 iOS App and the built-in microphone on your device.

Q
Does this eliminate need of PAC system if my 2019 Jeep Wrangler JLU already has the Alpine audio?
surly badger  Dec 01, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Marcus. Thank you for your question. If you are referring to the PAC system which includes an LOC and a T harness for your Wrangler, this would be a LOC, a processor, as well as an amplifier, and can take the speaker level in, but includes no T harness to get it to plug into your factory radio. You can purchase just the PAC T harness, and use it with this Alpine.

Q
Looking for an Alpine "all-in-one" amp/dsp combo to power my system. I'm concerned of the sub channel, is the 300 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms enough to power two Alpine R2 W10's? I ask, as the fuse rating is only 40 amps. It doesn't seem like with that type of fuse rating, it can push 600 watts to the subs in addition to the watts slated for the mid/highs.

Greetings Jo. Thank you for your question. Alpine Type R 10s would like to get 600-750 watts. Preferably closer to the 750, and you have two. Thats 1200-1500 watts of amp needed just for them. Alpine has 3 amps with built in DSP. none will have that kind of power for 2 Type Rs. This PXE-C80-88 also has processed preamp outs. Your going to need a second amp to run the subs.

Q
150 watts a 4 ohm at 10% THD? Is that a typo? What is the power at 1% THD?
david  Aug 21, 2023
1 answer
A
David, thank you for the catch. I reached out to the fine folks at Alpine, and yes it is a typo. Their engineers are bringing it back in for more testing, but the initial contact seems to think its more on the lines of 1% THD. We will unfortunately have to wait for an update from them.

Q
can the sub channels be be bridged to 600x1 at 2 ohm? looking at halo truck enclosures 2 8's
aaron  Jul 15, 2023
1 answer
A
You cannot bridge the subwoofer channels on the Alpine PXE-C80-88 Optim8, Aaron. You could consider using it to power your mids and hi's and for processing and power your dual 8" Alpine subwoofer box with the S2 A60M in the link below in a dual-amp setup. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500S2A60M/Alpine-S2-A60M.html

Q
If I run 2 sets of componer speakers. The subwoofers will push 300 rms each channel of all together ? Looking to run solo x. What would be my total rms for subwoofer ?
melissa a  Jul 09, 2023
1 answer
A
The output wattage listed for the two subwoofer channels is unaffected by the speakers connected to the other six channels. If you present either of the subwoofer channels with a 2-ohm impedance, either will provide 300 watts RMS power. Likewise, if you present either of the subwoofer channels with a 4-ohm impedance, either will provide 150 watts RMS power.

Hi just purchased this from crutchfield haven't installed yet but I was wondering what aftermarket microphones are compatible with this unit since Alpine said their mic won't be available for another month or so but did say aftermarket microphones will work didn't specify which?
louis  Jun 22, 2023

A
I would advise using the Alpine microphone for the very best results, Louis. If you are an iPhone user (or have access to one) you can download the OPTIM8 iOS app to take advantage of the built-in microphone for a streamlined Automatic Tunic setup for the time being until the Alpine option is available. This Alpine amp is an excellent call for pristine Hi-res listening in your ride!

I've reached out to Alpine Tech Support regarding this question. They advised that you use the iPhone tuning app, if possible, until their mic is available. Their rep shared my concern that microphones from different manufacturers have different sound characteristics, which would affect the quality of auto-tuning function of this DSP.
