Features

Kevlar Reinforced Pulp Cone: This Alpine R-Series subwoofer has a two-piece structural parabolic Kevlar reinforced pulp cone. Kevlar adds strength and tear resistance to the woofer cone while maintaining the benefits of a pulp cone design. There is also an oversized inverted polypropylene/ceramic composite dust cap, which increases rigidity and reduces cone distortion at extreme volume levels.

HAMRS: The woofer features a High Amplitude Multi Roll Surround (HAMRS), made of Santoprene Rubber, that allows a large linear excursion and greater SPL. The HAMRS design allows extreme excursions without sacrificing valuable cone area.

Progressive Spider: The progressive spider has reinforced layer tinsel leads to ensure reliable and consistent control of the tinsel leads and eliminate any mechanical noise or interference often seen in high excursion cone designs.

Compound Radius Curve Pole Geometry: Alpine's Patented Compound Radius Curve pole geometry ensures a symmetrical magnetic field, while optimizing flux density to reduce distortion and further improve power handling and output.

Dual Voice Coils: For system flexibility, the woofer has two 4Ω voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load; when wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals are all located on one side of the woofer. The terminals will accept bare wire up to 8-gauge, pin connectors, or single banana plugs.

Jumpers: Included with the woofer are two voice coil terminal jumpers, allowing you to easily wire the voice coils in parallel (for a 2Ω load) or series (for an 8Ω load).

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box Volume: The recommended sealed box volume (gross) range is from 0.48 to 0.93 ft³ cubic feet, with 0.58 ft³ cubic feet being the ideal size.

Ported Box Volume: The recommended ported box volume range is from 0.83 to 1.38 ft³. The ideal size is 1.33 ft³ using a slot port measuring 10" (width) x 1½" (height) x 19½" (length), resulting in a tuning frequency of 37 Hz.

Customer Q&A

Q
I have a five channel amplifier. The sub output is rated 350 W x1 at 4 ohms or 550 W x1 at 2 ohms. Is this enough power to make this sub sound good or should I consider a less power-hungry sub?
terry  Aug 25, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey Terry, thanks for the question. So general rule of thumb is getting to 70% or more of a subs max output to ensure we have enough power to drive it. I can confirm your amp now will have enough power to properly push this sub and make it sound as good as it can.

Q
What amp would be best to pair with this sub? I'm not planning on running crazy power out of the sub, Just something to compliment my speakers. Also is this to much subwoofer for my application?
steven  Jun 09, 2024

Greetings Steven. Thank you for your question. Not sure what else you got going on in your system, but this is a healthy subwoofer. You want to be around 80% of the maximum RMS which is 750. Somewhere between 600-750 watts is what you want to git this. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500S2A60M/Alpine-S2-A60M.html?tp=35834 https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500R2A75M/Alpine-R2-A75M.html?tp=35834

Q
How much air space does this speaker take up inside the box?
gary  Jun 09, 2024
1 answer
A
So the physical size of the subwoofer itself should not come into play when calculating the air space volume of a box. The box needs to be measured at the recommended specs without the subwoofer, in this case, sealed box volume: 0.48-0.93 cu. ft. or ported box volume: 0.83-1.38 cu. ft. while having a top-mount depth of 5.975" so the sub can fit into the box.

Q
I know It says 750rms think it would handle 1000rms or should I get the other option and run 600 rms at 4ohm amp puts out 1000 at 2ohm and 600 at 4ohm?
kenny  Jul 03, 2022
1 answer
A
The Alpine R2-W10D4 can only handle up to 750 watts rms. We do not recommend powering subs over their rated rms. If you are using an amplifier that is outputting 1000 watts at 2 ohms, it would be better to use two of the 600 watt SVC 4 ohm subs (or DVC 2 ohm subs) that wire down to 2 ohms to prevent any damage or electrical issues.
allison  Jul 03, 2022 (Staff)
Q
Would a 2 sq ft ported box be good for this sub? I know it exceeds recommended box dimensions but have read so many people preferring the larger boxes in the last generation R series sub.
ethan  May 02, 2022
1 answer
A
Generally we don't recommend trying to make a box work that's larger in air space than the sub is rated for. If the box were too small then you could use a product like polyester stuffing around the magnet to give an impression it's in a larger box, but not the other way around.
abby  May 05, 2022 (Staff)
Q
Would the Alpine S-A60M S-Series amp be enough to power this at 2ohm 600watt? Or would it be considered underpowered as RMS for this at 2ohms is 750watt?
parth  Apr 16, 2022
1 answer
A
No. Do not get this amp thinking its going to be a full 600w rms. It feells more like 450 bc it cant even make a kicker l7 10in rumble. I got rid of this alpine amp and got a skar one for 180 and its so much better. Please get smaller subs or a bigger amp
