Always a good choice
Pros: Great subwoofer, nice and tight in the right box, with lots of power handling abilities
Cons: They could leave the flashy frame bling off, to make them fit in a tighter box.

Alpines comp R
Jonathan from Buffalo on 6/29/2022
I have 09 Silverado ext cab. Jvc.960 head unit. 4-infinity kappa door speakers on Hertz hcp4d 1160 watts and then I have 2- alpine R12s with 2.5ft ea on Kicker kx1600.1 with epicenter bass enhancement 20 farad compactor 2 batteries high output alternator and I have Rocked blocks from every where. People have stopped me and said they do comps for sundown and other but they had to let me know that they had Nothing for me and they always got to know what I have. You need to get these. I have already run kicker comp Rs cvx. And cerwina Vega vmax none has hit this hard and loud. Very good product. I am now getting 2- 15s and hopefully I don't regret it again Alpines are Top of the line. You can never go wrong with these subs
Pros: Everything
Cons: Will piss your neighbors offf and Rattle your car. Sound proff recommended.

Still one of the best!
Daniel from Coral Springs, FL on 5/13/2022
I originally ordered a pair of JL W3v3's for my new setup, and needless to say, I was very disappointed especially for the price point. Thankfully I was able to return them due to Crutchfield's AMAZING return policy and give the new Alpine Type R's a try! Night and day difference while still using the same box and amplifier as before. Rich and boomy lows while still maintaining tight and punchy mid bass. Currently running these on 1200 watts RMS in a 3.5cu ported under-seat enclosure. I highly recommend the new Type R's and I highly recommend getting them from Crutchfield!
Pros: Beefy construction, great blend of sound quality and SPL, power handling
Cons: No plans for protective grille covers according to Alpine customer service
