How Alpine does it

A mica-injected polypropylene woofer cone adds some serious oomph to your tunes while a soft dome tweeter ensures shrill, harsh highs are a thing of the past. With power handling up to 75 watts RMS, these Alpines will deliver impressive performance if you're adding an aftermarket amplifier to your system.

Greetings Gary, and thank you for your question. Do you need to run an amp? No. Will they sound much better if given more power from an amp? Absolutely.

A
Try it without an AMP first and see, I am using them in and 2020 Blazer with the factory radio and they do well. I think you will get better results because your FT175 has a lot more settings to play with to get the sound you want. if it doesn't quite you that AWWW YEAH feeling add in the amp of your choice. hope this helps

Q
How would no wire them to a moonson system in my Pontiac grand am 2002 it has one channel high the other is low ?
larry  Feb 29, 2020

A
The two wire connections are signal and return (or ground). Your only concern is being consistent on which wire goes to which post for all speakers. More detail; Internal to the speaker assembly, there are connections to the "high" driver driver, which may include a passive filter. Both high frequency and low go to the speaker assembly and it sorts it out so you don't need to worry about that at all. Because speakers are only sent AC signal (no DC component), as long as you get the phase correct you are good. You do this by being consistent on which wire goes to which post on the speaker for all speakers in the car. Good Luck.
